Sighing a young girl of the age of fifteen walked up the steps of her new school. Her older sister had told her she was going to enjoy herself here at Hogwarts, however, she already doubted the possibility.
'I hope she's right about this...' She thought to herself, not noticing that at the top of the staircase was Professor McGonagall.
Waiting upon the staircase I noticed a young girl walk up the steps. She had pale fair skin, Snow hair up in a bun with two thin strands in the front, and what I can only assume to be bright green eyes due to the eye-patch that was covering her left eye. Once she was in front of me I noticed she had five piercings on her right ear and four on the left. Looking up she caught my eye with hers before quickly looking back to the ground.
"Lucille Snow I presume?"
"Y-yes ma'am." She barely said above a light whisper
"Follow me than Ms. Snow."
Quickly she did as she was told as Fletcher took her single bag inside. Upon opening the Grand Halls's doors all of the students silenced themselves, turning slightly I noticed how she had gotten closer and had grown even paler than what she had already been if possible. I lead her to the head table as Albus Dumbledor, the headmaster, rose from his seat with a large smile causing all of the students to turn to him.
"I am very pleased to finally meet you, Ms. Snow." He gently said
Glancing at the girl I watched as she gave a small nod as Albus chuckled.
"No need to be scared or shy my dear."
Glancing up he fully looked at the other students in the room.
"Students and staff, even though it is close to the Holidays, I am pleased to announce a new student joining us here at Hogwarts!"
As Albus spoke the students turned and whispered amongst themselves. Picking up the Sorting Hat I noticed Fletchers' cat, Ms. Norris, rub against the girl's leg while purring. Surprised I turned to the others to see all of their surprised expressions, including Severus and Fletchers.
Turning back to the girl I watched as she kneeled down with a soft smile on her lips as she ran her fingers gently threw Ms. Norris's fur. Hearing a throat clear we both turned to see Albus's amused expression.
"Professor McGonagall, please, proceed."
"Of course Headmaster."
Having her sit down I held back a gasp as Ms. Norris jumped into the young girls lap. Hearing Albus chuckle I turned a sharp glare towards him ceasing his chuckles. I carefully placed the hat upon her head and took a step back.
Trembling due to everybody staring at her, Lucille let out a surprised yelp as the Sorting Hat began to speak.
"Hm, Lucille Snow, I never expected to see you here of all places. Where to place you, where to place you."
"What? What do you mean by 'place' me?"
Glancing downwards the Sorting Hat used one of its flaps to smack her upside the head.
"Don't ask stupid questions girl."
"Damn... Sorry... Grumpy much?" She quietly muttered under her breath
"Now then, your mischievous, however your smart and loyal. And you're past... It seems to be dark, very dark..."
Taking in how the Sorting Hat was taking an unusual amount of time to decide they all turned to the headmaster in confusion, only to be surprised when the Sorting Hat shouted.
"Hufflepuff!"
Hearing loud cheering Lucille turned to the table causing most of it. Once the Hat was off of her head she made her way over and sat down next to one of the boys that kindly scooted over so she could sit. Once she was seated Dumbledor spoke once more.
"Now that that is over, let's begin dinner, shall we?"
Watching as the food appeared in amazement Lucille felt a sudden tap on her shoulder. Turning to the culprit she noticed the boy that had moved over, he had brown short hair with brown eyes that were staring at her.
"Hello there, I'm Cedric Diggery, your name is Lucille, right?" He kindly/curiously asked
Tilting her head slightly Lucille grew confused. Why was he being kind to her? Going ot answer the doors were thrown open to reveal a giant man with black shoulder-length hair and beard as he made his way threw the tables.
"Evening Headmaster, sorry I'm late, I was just-"
Glancing threw the corner of his eye Hagrid froze as he spotted Lucille, causing everybody to grow confused other than Dumbledore as he gave an amused smile at the scene in front of him.
"Well, I'll be! If it 'aint little Lucille Snow! I haven't/ 'aint seen you in a long while." He said with a large grin
Turning to the waving girl they all turned back towards Dumbledore as he stood and cleared his throat.
"It's quite alright Hagrid, and I understand your excitement to see Ms. Snow once again, but why don't you wait until after dinner to speak?" Dumbledore suggested with a knowing smile
"Besides, your 'niece' just got here herself."
"Oh, alright then Headmaster sir."
Making his way over and sitting down Hagrid jokingly winked at Lucille causing her to shake her head and smile in amusement. Not noticing that a few students were curiously staring at her as were a few teachers.
"Hagrid, you never mentioned that you had a niece." McGonagall curiously stated
Chuckling nervously Hagrid turned his gaze towards Lucille as she was being asked a bunch of questions by her house.
"Well, she 'aint, at least not by blood that is."
"Then how-" Madam Pomfrey began to ask only to be interrupted
I knew her family, her parents were really nice. At least the misses was."
"Was?" Severus inquired as he took a sip from his goblet
"Their... Well dead now. She has one living relative left though, an older sister. She actually came here as well."
"Oh? Who was it?"
"Indeed the last name doesn't sound too familiar."
"They have different last names, as for who... I'd rather not say." He softly spoke up carefully.
Curious they all turned to find Ernie Macmillan bragging to her about being a pure-blood and attempting to get her to say what she was only to be stopped as Hannah Abbott elbowed him in his side causing the other to laugh.
"So then, how did her family die?" Flitwick curiously asked
Coughing into his goblet Hagrid attempted to avoid eye contact.
"Well, uh... Do you recall the last family he killed... Before the Potters?" He nervously asked
"Indeed, what of them?" McGonagall asked
"They are them..." He softly said in response
"That makes no sense. How could they, she, still be alive then?" Severus asked in disbelief
"It's true! Her older sister was only a toddler at the time, but she ran with baby Lucille in her arms and hide in the forest until I found them soon after."
"Oh, dear..."
"Poor thing, and what of her eye?"
Clearing his throat nervously Hagrid scratched at his cheek.
"I'm not entirely sure about that myself. All I am aware of is that something happened while her sister was here at the time and that she now has to wear it at all times."
"Oh my."
"Funny thing though..."
"What is Hagrid?" Dumbledore inquired finally
"Sometimes, I can see their mother more in her, than her sister..."
Hearing this they all watched as the girl listened as her housemates bickered amongst themselves.
Starring at the new student curiously from across the room at a different table six students grew more curious by the second.
"You do know that it's rude to stare, right?" A girl with fluffy brown hair and eyes stated more than asked.
"Hermione is right, knock it off, guys." Another girl with ginger hair and blue eyes scolded.
"Oh, we're just looking-"
"Yeah, there's no harm in it-"
"Ginny." Two identical boys said
"Their right guys, we should stop now." A boy with short messy brown hair, blue eyes, and a lightning bolt scar stated in agreement.
"Oh alright, Harry. Fred, George, that includes you two."
"Oh, push off Ron." The two said in sync as they turned.
"But, aren't you curious about her as well?"
"That eye-patch does make you curious."
"As well as how pale she appears to be-"
Gasping the two turned to each with large grins.
"Maybe she's a vampire!" They whispered excitedly
"Rolling their eyes at the two antics, the others turned back to each other
"It does make you wonder though." Ginny stated
"Wonder what?" Ron asked in confusion
"What happened to her eyes," Hermione answered
"And why she appears to be so frightened." Ginny asked
Over at a different table, a boy with blond platinum hair with blue, grey eyes sneered at the new girl.
"How disgusting." Was the only thing he had said
