The stormy grey clouds of The Upside Down were actually quite beautiful when you took a moment to look. The way they swirled around and sent a sharp crackle through the air distracted Eddie from the many holes poked into his body. Each one screamed with pain like the Demobats had when they swarmed around him.
It was worth it though, he had avenged Chrissy and kept Dustin alive. Speaking of which, Dustin's fuzzy outline came into his view. The kid was scrambling towards him yelling "Eddie, Eddie!"
Coiley curls fell onto Eddie's face as Dustin leaned over him. His milky brown eyes watered and his hands shook. Dustin being in more shock than him brought a smile and a giggle to Eddie's mouth. There was one last thing he needed to know though.
"I didn't run away this time, right?"
Dustin choked on a small smile, "no, you didn't run."
"Eddie slipped one of the many rings from his fingers and placed it in Dustin's palm saying,
"Your gonna have to look after them for me."
"I promise," Dustin sniffled and started to strain his words.
Eddie said, "I love you man."
This brought Dustin to tears and to whisper the words, "I love you too."
As Dustin's tears stung his face Eddie accepted his fate and let the kid hold him. He was ready to die.
Eddie Munson woke up to happy clouds that were as fluffy as cotton candy. This must have been heaven because Chrissy Cunningham the Queen of Hawkins was standing right in front of him glowing like an angel. She wore a black velvet dress with a deep v-neck and spaghetti straps. It went all the way to her ankles and had a high slit on the right leg. Clinging to her delicate curves perfectly.
Super gorgeous dress aside, her eyes were blue instead of the rolled-back white they were last time. He never thought that he would get to see them like that ever again. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that her eye makeup was a deep smoky eye and her lips were painted an enticing red colour. Instead of sneakers, her feet were in little black strappy heels. She had turned into such a black swan and Eddie didn't know if he should be concerned or impressed.
So Eddie sprang up and hugged her. Wrapping his arms completely around her tiny frame he held her tight and close to his chest. She was alive and he sure as hell was never letting her go again. Creamy vanilla wafted off of her and invaded his nostrils. There really wasn't a thing that was terrible about Chrissy Cunningham.
This did not last long however because she shoved him off. Taking a few steps back she took some slow breaths.
"You Idiot," Screamed Chrissy.
He was shocked to say the least. Eddie took a step towards her and she backed away five more steps.
"First of all boundaries and second you made a terrible mistake, Munson."
She said his last name like it was venom on her tongue. Like it burned her flesh and left bubbly scars.
"Excuse me?" He crossed his arms rubbing at the scratchy material of his Jean jacket.
"I was not worth dying over Doofus."
Eddies reacted to her words by just looking at her, not warm like in the forest or scared when she was possessed but with nothing. Emotionless.
"You could have had a life, they were going to clear your name. You could have graduated and become a musician or heck gotten paid to DM. For once in your life things were looking up and you just threw it all away."
"Chrissy," god Eddie thought she was beautiful even with bright red ears and a mouth that never stopped moving. Chrissy started repeatedly rubbing her thumbs against each other. Since her nails were manicured in a pointed almond shape it was only about time till she caught her skin with a pointy nail. So Eddie took a few steps closer and went to place a hand on hers to stop them fidgeting.
She swatted his hand away, "No you listen Eddie, I died because I had nothing to live for. I was miserable every step of my life while you were happy for once," she huffed, "You had friends that you cracked jokes with and kids that looked up to you. They all protected and cared about you like you were family. The misunderstood edgy kid but still family," Chrissy jabbed a finger at him, "Isn't that all you have ever wanted?"
"Not at all sweetheart."
"Oh really, cause you looked damn happy."
"I wasn't Fucking happy Chrissy," Eddie raised his voice and did a frustrated hand gesture.
She stepped into his personal space, her head coming up to his chest so she had to look up to say, "Liar."
"You Fucking ran Eddie," her fist made light contact with his chest.
"You hid from the world," she hit him twice using each fist one time.
"You let me haunt you out of everything that was good damn it," Chrissy landed another three hits on his pectoral muscles.
"Why the hell did you have to be the hero for once," she just kept on going, hit hit hit.
Until the next time she went to punch him, he caught her fists before she could reach his chest.
"My life was Fucking miserable without you."
Eddie squeezed her fists, the cool metal of his rings was smooth and cold against her burning skin. Their eyes met for a moment, icy blue melting into warm chocolate brown. Both their breathing slowed and they started to lean in together. Just as their noses were about to touch Chrissy broke away stumbling backwards over her heels and onto the ground.
Sitting up and wiping cloud dust off of the lap of her black dress Chrissy shook her head, "You don't mean that."
"Yes I do," Eddie offered his hand to her.
Chrissy narrowed her eyes and slowly stood up with a wobble. Her lips pursed into a tight pout, "We only spoke two times."
"So," Eddie rolled his eyes and copied her pout.
"Well, we were strangers alive and dead," remarked Chrissy, "so there is no possible way I mattered that much."
"Chrissy do you remember that day in the woods?" asked Eddie in a soft almost hushed tone.
She fell silent refusing to meet his gaze, "Just let it go," she grumbled.
"You are the only person to ever understand my chaos."
"But I don't," she turned away from him.
"Do you realize that this is the reason why you'll go down in history as my wickedly evil murderer?" her face scrunched up and tears welled up in her eyes, "Do you want that legacy, Eddie?"
"No, God No." Eddie shrieked like a demobat.
"But would little miss pom poms just let me explain?" He marched right over to her, his footsteps heavy but fast. Placing a hand gently on her shoulder he turned her to face him.
Chrissy snarled in Eddie's face, "No because you are not Making Sense."
"Oh I'll make sense," he laughed wickedly.
He bent down, bracing a hand on her cheek. Letting out an exasperated breath Eddie crushed his lips into Chrissy's. His sheer strength forced Chrissy to tilt her head back which gave him the opportunity to snake his hands down to her waist. Retaliating she brought her hands up into his curly mane and pulled. It was not a soft sweet first kiss but of pure anger and passion because Eddie slipped his tongue into Chrissy's mouth and she matched his move by pushing her tongue harshly into his. Everything from her lips to her waist felt soft against him while his hands and body were calloused and hard to her. She should have pushed him off and he should have respected her personal space yet neither of them could pull away.
