Anais tried and failed to hold back tears. She'd never meant for things to go this far, she gotten far too carried away, taken things way too far, and now Gumball hated her.

Nicole turned to her furious and began shouting. "What on earth was that about!? What did you do to him!?"

"I-I-I..."

She tried to respond but she couldn't form any words.

"Well!?"

Darwin took pity and answered for her. "She blackmailed Gumball into agreeing to a bet where if he lost the game, which he did, he has to not go on the camping trip and watch Daisy the Donkey with her every day instead."

"She did what!? Anais...how could you? You know how much that trip meant to him, why would you do something like that to him!? How could do something so mean to him!?"

"I...I'm sorry..."She managed to get out quietly.

"I'm not the one you need to apologise to! You go and apologise to Gumball and call off the bet, right now!"

"I..."

"NOW!"

"O-okay.."She sniffed.

She slowly got up and went to the stairs.

She could barely go up the steps, having to force herself to do so.

As she went up she felt worse and worse.

She had a knot in her stomach, she had never felt so guilt stricken and regretful before.

She'd never wanted to hurt him like this, never. She'd only meant to make him feel bad for what he'd said, she hadn't wanted to genuinely upset him and it hurt, it hurt so much seeing him so upset because of something that she had done to him.

What if...what if he really meant what he said...what if he really does hate me..what if he never...never forgives me...

Tears managed to escape and roll down her face as she sniffed.

How could I have pushed things so far? H-h-how could I have been so cruel?

She finally reached their room, shaking heavily as she knocked on the bedroom door.

"G-G-Gum...ball?" Her voice croaked quietly, barely able to speak due to the weight of the guilt.

She waited and got no response.

"Gu-Gu-Gumb-ball, p-please." She cried out slightly louder.

She waited and still got no response.

She mustered up all the strength she had and opened the door.

She went in and to her horror Gumball was nowhere to be seen.

"G-Gumball!?GUMBALL!?" Her eyes widened.

She frantically looked around, checking in the closet, under the bed covers, on her bed and under the bed but he was nowhere.

Oh no...oh no, no, no, no.

She began to panic, thinking he had ran away because of her.

She was about to leave and run downstairs to tell Nicole when she heard a sob.

She looked around trying to see where it came from and saw that the window was open.

She ran over and looked outside and sure enough there was Gumball sitting on the roof crying.

She slowly climbed out and joined him.

"G-G-Gumb-ball?" She called out quietly as she shook.

He didn't respond, not even acknowedging that she was there.

"Gu-Gumball please..."

She went to touch his shoulder when he suddenely turned around and hissed at her aggressively.

Her arm shot back and she covered her mouth with her paws as her eyes widened.

He had never hissed at her before, never. She must have hurt him even worse that she thought...

"I'm s-s-s-sorry." She said quietly.

"You don't meant hat. You're just saying it."

"I-I-I do, I s-swear, r-really Ido. I got c-carried away, I wasn't t-thinking about what I was doing and I took things too far and I'm s-s-so sorry!"

Tears began streaming down her face.

"Why!? Why would you do that to me!? What could have possibly possessed you to do something like that?!" He snapped.

She began to cry. "W-when you were showing all those p-photos to Mom, it p-put me in a bad mood. You and Darwin...talking about how many g-great friends you have, all the stuff you d-do with them I...I felt lonely a-and left out a-and j-jealous."

"T-then when you were talking about going on the camping trip, it r-reminded me I was going to be alone for two weeks, and it just made me feel even w-worse."

"W-when you made those c-comments about me, about...about doing the chores and being easy to look after and laughing about it I s-snapped and lashed out and t-took out my frustrations on you by deciding to teach you a lesson a-and make you miss out and feel left out, see how y-you would l-like it."

She began to cry even harder, unable to stop the tears. He slowly turned to look at her.

"I'm s-s-so sor-ry-y-y! Of course you don't have to miss out on the trip, of course you don't! I was never gonna make you go through with it, never, I s-swear! I just wanted you to think I was, to make you think you were gonna get left out! I could n-never have made you actually miss it, never, ever! I could never do something so mean! I never meant for things to go so far! Never! I just got c-completely carried away, I s-swear! I-It was only suppossed to be a small p-prank to make you f-feel bad, that's all. I n-never meant to go as far as I did with, honestly I didn't! I-I-I..."

She couldn't hold back her tears anymore and began to full on sob as she hugged Gumball, which he didn't stop her from doing, and cried into his sweater.

"I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M SO, SO SORRY! I'D DO A-ANYTHING TO TAKE IT BACK, ANYTHING I SWEAR! PLEASE YOUH-HA-HAVE TO FORGIVE ME, YOUHAVE TO,PLEASE!"

Gumball's ears lowered as he watched, his heart broken seeing her so worked up and upset.

"I LOVE YOU SO M-M-MUCH AND I NEVER MEANT TO H-HURT YOU! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! I DIDN'T M-MEAN IT, I SWEAR, I SWEAR! I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY, I'M S-S-SO SORRY!"

She let out a little whimper and sniffed, looking up at him."I'm s-scared I'm gonna l-lose you...I don't...I don't w-want to lose y-y-you...p-please..."

She continued to sob, harder than she ever had before, unable to stop herself, completely guilt stricken and distraught. She kept repeating that she was sorry and that she didn't mean it, over and over and over. She hated herself, she hated herself for hurting her brother, for messing with his emotions in such a spiteful way. She never meant to be so cruel, she never meant to take things so far, she never meant to-

Suddenely, to her surprise, she felt Gumball pick her up before wrapping his arms around her and hugging her tightly and rubbing her back.

"Hey, hey, shhhhh, shhhhh, shhhhhh, it's okay, it's alright." She heard him telling her softly.

She slowly opened her eyes and looked up at hin confused, tears still streaming down her face.

"Calm down, calm down, it's okay, it's alright."

She stopped sobbing but continued to sniff and cry.

"W-w-what?"

"It's okay, I forgive you, I accept your apology."

"Y-y-you do?" She sniffed.

"I do." He smiled reassuringly.

She calmed down slightly after hearing this.

"I'm really sorry about what I said to you before I stormed off. I didn't mean any of it. Of course you deserve friends, of course I want you to be happy."

"I-It's okay, I know you didn't mean it. Besides, I d-deserved it for doing something so h-hurtful to you, a-a-and...a-and..."

Tears started to fall down her face again as she tried to hold them back.

"Hey, hey, don't start crying again, it's okay. I've calmed down now. I'm not mad anymore. I understand, I understand that you were just mad and lashed out and got carried away and it was prank gone too far, I understand, really I do, I've been there."

She sniffed and started cried into his shoulder again.

"I'm s-sorry!"

"It's okay, it's okay, really. I can tell how upset you are, I know you're really genuinely sorry and I forgive you, completely." He stroked her head.

"H-how? How can you forgive me so easily? After what I just did?"

He wiped the tears from eyes."Because, me and Darwin have done the same thing before. We had a whole prank war with Dad and took things way too far, ended up stranding him in the ocean. We thought it was funny until he got back and we realised how much we'd upset him. We felt so guilty, we'd never meant for things to go that far."

She nodded, having felt exactly the same.

"So, I know how you feel,to some degree at least, and I couldn't stand to see you so upset. I know you would never, ever genuinely want to hurt me like that, and, no matter what, I still love you, so, so much."

Anais smiled weakly before hugging him."Thank you!"

"You're welcome."

She thought for a moment."I-If...If you want, I'll do my end of...of the bet. I-I...I deserve it."

"No, no, no, you don't need to do that. Like I told Darwin I was only joking about you doing the chores. I never actually wanted or expected for you to do them. It'd be unfair for you to do all of that work whilst me and Darwin were out having fun."

"Are you sure?" She sniffed.

He nodded. "Positive. Oh, and...what I said about looking after you, I...I didn't mean that in any mean or insulting way, I...I didn't mean to upset you."

"It's okay. I was just in a bad mood and your comments got to me, I know you weren't trying to be rude."

He thought for a moment and lowered his ears.

"I'm...I'm sorry if...if at the dinner table it felt like me and Darwin were...mocking you or...or making fun of you for not having any friends. I...we would never want it to come across that way. We'd...we'd never want to put you down or make you feel like we were laughing at you or disappointed in you for not having any friends. We know how hard you try, we know how much it means to you and we're so proud of you for not giving up and I know that one day all that effort and determination will be worth it. You just have to keep trying. I believe in you."

She teared up. "Thank you. I won't let you down, I promise. I'll keep on trying."

He smiled and wiped her tears.v"That's all I ask."

"So...are we good now?"Anais asked.

"Yeah, we're good. Just remind me to never make a joke about you again, hey?" He winked.

She giggled. "It's okay, I promise, I won't do anything like that to you again."

"I freaking hope not!" He joked.

She laughed before embracing him lovingly.

"Again, I'm...I'm really sorry for everything."

He chuckled."It's okay, really, you can stop apolgising!"

"Okay, okay, I'll stop." She smiled.

He noticed she was still shaking and sniffing.

"You're still pretty shaken up, huh?" He asked soflty.

She nodded slowly, tears still threatening to fall.

He thought for a moment.

"Alright then... how about we go watch some Daisy the Donkey to help you calm down?" He placed his paw on her shoulder.

She hesitated before smiling."Yeah...that'd be nice."

He put her back down and helped her climb back inside before closing the window.

A while later Nicole poked her head into the bedroom to check on them.

She heard Daisy playing from Gumball's laptop.

"Well, sounds like you two have made up!" She smiled.

Neither of them responded.

"Gumball? Anais?" She raised her eyebrow.

Again they didn't respond.

She quietly opened the door and walked around the bed.

She broke into a huge grin as she found they'd fallen asleep together, Anais cuddled up next to Gumball, as he had his arm around her protectively.

"Awwww. I guess that answers my question..."

She carefully closed the laptop and put it away.

She took Anais' quilt from her bed and put it over them before she gave them both a kiss on the forehead.

She noticed he was purring and smiled. "I knew he couldn't stay mad at you for long. He loves you too much for that."

She watched a little longer before she went and left the room, turning the lights as she did.
