Kara, the twins, and Sapphire all rushed back to their house.
Kara rang the doorbell like crazy as she and her brothers called for Qui-Gon. But, they got no answer.
"Maybe he's asleep." Sapphire said.
That was when Kara remembered something, and she did the security check, which opened the front door, allowing herself and her brothers to enter the lab.
Kara ran to her father's room and quietly peeked inside, but found the bed was empty. The twins checked Obi-Wan's room and found it was empty too. And no one was in the lab either. Even R2 was gone.
"He must have gone to the station to pick us up and then went out when he realized we weren't there." said Anakin.
Kara got one of the landline phones and tried calling her father. There was static.
"Daddy?" Kara called. "Daddy, can you hear me?"
"Kara... are you... the twins?" Qui-Gon's voice came, but so much static came between his sentences.
"Hello? Can you hear me?" Kara called again.
"I'll try to boost the signal." Carmine said, and he and Anakin got right to it, but there was too much static, and the call was cut off.
"Daddy?!" Kara exclaimed.
Tears came to Kara's eyes. She had no idea where her father was or if he was okay. He could've been injured or dying, and she would've been unable to help him.
The twins were worried too.
"What if something awful happened?" Carmine worried, tears coming to his eyes.
"This is all our fault." Anakin cried. "If we'd just gone to school in the first place... Daddy would be here."
The kids all started crying as they feared they'd perhaps lost their family forever.
Sometime during the night, a familiar sparkling blue light shined in the lab, and before the three children appeared Shmi the Blue Fairy.
"Children...why are you crying?" asked Shmi.
Kara looked up and gasped. An actual fairy in her house!
"Huh? Who are you?" Kara asked.
The twins looked up and saw the fairy.
"She's the fairy." Anakin said, wiping his tears away.
"What are you doing here?" Carmine asked.
"Ani, Carmine, why didn't you go to school?" asked the fairy.
The twins' programming told them not to lie, as did their free will and judgement. And Sapphire too.
"Tell the truth." Sapphire said.
"We were going to school until we met somebody." Anakin said.
"Met somebody?" said Shmi.
"Yeah, a couple of Weequays." Carmine said.
"One was in a red coat, and they took us to a circus. To be performers."
"But then someone threw stuff at Kara, and our attack modes were activated!"
"Preigo the ringmaster was going to have us reprogrammed, but we all escaped and Dad was gonna bring us home on a shuttle, but then we ran into the same Weequays, who gave us tickets to Pleasure Island."
"And it all turned out to be a trick to turn naughty kids into donkeys and sell them. We almost turned into donkeys too, but we escaped and got the other kids out."
"Kara and Sapphire both tried to warn us, but we didn't listen. And now, our father is gone!"
"Can you bring him back?" Kara asked the fairy hopefully.
"Only you and your brothers can do that." Shmi answered. "However, I can show you where he is."
Shmi waved her wand and showed the children a vision of Qui-Gon on a ship with Obi-Wan and R2. They had apparently began tracking the kids on the GPS trackers they were given, when something when wrong with the ship, and they crash-landed on the planet Mon Cala, where their ship was swallowed by an enormous whale by the name of Monstro.
Monstro was extremely dangerous. He was known as the Whale of Whales. And it was probably obvious one of the main reasons people feared him was that he could literally swallow an entire ship in one gulp.
"Daddy!" Kara exclaimed.
"Not to worry, Kara." Shmi said. "Your father and the others are alive. But you must save them."
"But how?" Kara asked. "We don't have a ship that goes underwater."
"Well, I can provide something that will come in handy." Shmi said. "But this is the last time I can help you."
Shmi waved her wand and gave each of the children a magical pearl necklace.
"These pearls will allow each of you to transform into merfolk, and you shall be able to communicate with any and all creatures of the sea. With hope and the right amount of courage, you will be able to rescue your family."
As the fairy disappeared, the kids looked at each other. They wiped their tears away as they all adopted the same determined look on their faces.
Kara got out what credits she could find and got herself and her brothers on the next flight to Mon Cala, and as soon as their ride was above the water...
"Let's go save Dad!" Anakin declared.
"Cannonball!" Carmine exclaimed, jumping into the water first, the others following suite.
The kids held their breath until their pearls glowed, and they each found their legs magically being replaced by tails.
"We're coming, Daddy." Kara said. "We just gotta find that whale."
And so, the three kids began swimming deep into the ocean to search for the whale that swallowed their father.
The children called for their father, but got no answer.
So, the children asked any sea creatures, and even some Mon Cala and Quarren they came across. But... everyone they asked got scared and swam away the second they heard the name 'Monstro.'
Luckily, the twins still had their trackers working, so they decided to see if they could trace their father's ship.
"Any sign of them?" Kara asked.
The twins concentrated some more. The density of the ocean made it a little difficult to get a good signal (and probably the fact that the ship was inside a whale), but they managed to figure out which way to go.
"Follow those fish!" the twins exclaimed, swimming in the direction of a school of fish.
