Ralsei's Salon

Just a cute little Ralsei and Frisk friendship oneshot inspired by the word "Hands." For some reason the idea of hair cutting and brushing makes me feel so soft inside and I wanted to write it with two of my three favorite Undertale/Deltarune dorks. Set sometime after Hopes, Dreams, And DELTARUNE, Book Two: Cyber World.

The idea of Frisk, Ralsei, and Susie just living a domestic life in the Dark World together makes me melt. I so much hope the Dark World doesn't disappear after the last chapter...

...

Frisk frowned as she looked at herself in Ralsei's bathroom mirror. Her hair was getting longer and shaggy again, her uneven locks frizzing all over the place while her ragged bangs fell into her eyes, partially obstructing her vision. She couldn't have that, especially since it would give her a potentially dangerous disadvantage in battles.

She stepped out of the bathroom. "Hey, Rals?" she called out to her friend, who was standing over his cooking cauldron, stirring it. "Do you have some scissors I can borrow?"

"Sure!" he answered cheerfully. The chocolate cake he was making popped out of the cauldron and he caught it. "What type do you need?"

Frisk shrugged. "Any type that works for cutting hair. I need to fix my bird's nest." She ruffled her messy locks for emphasis.

"Need some help? I know it's gotta be hard to see the back of your head. I can cut your hair for you. Just tell me what you like." Ralsei offered with a smile.

Frisk shook her head. "I can get it. I've done this for years. I don't want to bother you." she admitted.

"Frisk, you never bother me! And I'm happy to help. Plus, we used to fix each other's hair all the time when we were kids, remember?" Ralsei asked. Frisk smiled softly as memories flashed through her head of them brushing each other's hair and fur and putting ribbons on each other.

"I remember," she told him with a smile, then giggled as another memory hit. "Though the only time we got into the scissors, I gave you a bald spot and you gave me a partial mohawk."

Ralsei chuckled sheepishly. "Trust me, I'm WAY better with scissors now than I was when I was five. And if I mess up, I'll pay for you to get it fixed professionally."

"I trust you," Frisk reassured him with a smile. He grinned back and set the cake down on the counter before grabbing the scissors and one of the kitchen chairs and heading back to the bathroom with her.

"Welcome to Ralsei's Salon!" he introduced grandly, just as he always had when they were kids, as they entered the bathroom. He set the chair in front of the sink. "We offer the full hair care experience; a shampoo, condition, and trim for the low, low price of at least one hug!"

Frisk giggled and hugged him before sitting down. He had her lean back and then started the water, letting it run to the perfect temperature before rinsing her hair. He then grabbed the shampoo from the tub, and the sweet smell of strawberries filled the air as he put some on his hands. She then felt him rub the shampoo into her hair, his long fingers and blunt claws deliciously massaging her scalp, and she sighed happily and melted into the touch, her eyes closing.

After a few minutes, the massage stopped, and she very nearly made a sound of disappointment before the warm water came back, rinsing the shampoo away. Once her hair was fully rinsed clean of the shampoo, he squirted a small amount of conditioner on his hands, tenderly rubbing it into the tips of her hair before massaging her scalp once again. He then rinsed it out, those all too skilled fingers tenderly combing through her hair. Frisk sighed contentedly once again, putty in Ralsei's hands.

He then wrapped a towel around her hair before having her sit up, rubbing her hair until it was merely damp rather than soaking wet. He ran a comb through her hair, making her melt even more as memories of herself and Ralsei doing this very thing as five year olds came to her mind. Once finished, he draped a large towel over her shoulders and chest to protect her neck and clothes from getting hair all over them, then reached for the scissors.

He cut her hair with utmost care, trimming away the split ends and uneven patches left by Frisk's lackadaisical hacking away at her own hair in the past, brushing it carefully as he did so. Frisk's eyes closed as she leaned slightly into his touch, feeling so loved and cared for. She had never had a real haircut before. She couldn't afford to get one and she never remembered her parents doing it as a child, nor would she now trust them with scissors near her head. Ralsei was a different story though. She trusted Ralsei with not only her life but everything else.

She was so comfortable she nearly drifted to sleep, only roused when Ralsei turned on the hair dryer, blowing away and brushing out the residual dampness.

"All finished, Frisk!" Ralsei said cheerfully, taking the towel off her shoulders and using the hair dryer to blow any loose hair away. "How's it look?"

Frisk got up and turned to look in the mirror, running her fingers through her now soft, evenly trimmed locks in awe. All the ragged bits, the split ends, the years of neglect and mistreatment to her hair had been snipped away. It looked beautiful.

She felt beautiful.

Tears coming to her eyes, she hugged Ralsei tightly. "It's perfect. Thank you so much, Ralsei. I love it."

He hugged back happily. "You're welcome, Frisk. I'll do your hair for you anytime you want."

...

When they exited the bathroom and headed back to the kitchen, they found Susie, Lancer, and Tina sitting at the table, happily chatting away over slices of Ralsei's cake. They looked up and smiled sheepishly with chocolate covered faces when they noticed Frisk and Ralsei.

"Hey guys. Don't worry. I saved a couple of slices for you, even though you two were gone for forever," Susie assured them with a toothy grin. She then noticed Frisk's hair. looking it over appreciatively. "Hey, you got that mop of yours cut! Looks pretty good."

"Thanks! Ralsei did it," Frisk told her, looking at Ralsei proudly.

"Heh, not bad work, Goat Boy," Susie grinned. "I just might have to have you cut my hair too." Though her tone was teasing, Frisk noticed the slight bit of longing in her voice.

Ralsei obviously did too. "I'd be happy to, Susie." he said sincerely with his usual adorable smile.

Little Tina's eyes shone. "Can you do mine too? Please!"

Ralsei smiled. "Of course."

"Ooh! Me too!" Lancer chimed in.

Susie laughed. "Lancer, do you even HAVE hair?"

"No, but I'll find a cool spell and grow it!"

Frisk chuckled, taking Ralsei's hand in hers. "Looks like Ralsei's Salon is turning into a full time gig. Need an assistant?"

Ralsei smiled and squeezed her hand. "Definitely."
