Supergirl Annual
"Ladies and Gentlemen you are watching The Brock Report as I have an exclusive interview with none other than Kara Danvers of Cat Co. First of all Ms. Danvers, welcome to the show." introduced Eddie.
Peter Parker quickly enters the room, nearly stumbling over as he was trying to fix his clothes to cover his suit not knowing his mask was sticking out of his pocket.
Kara looks over at her friend while also noticing this as she sends subtle signals that his mask was hanging out.
"Thank you for having me on." she said while patting her pockets.
"Let's talk about National City. Supergirl. Do you think she truly stands for something said City should believe in?" Eddie asked.
"Look I'm not biased and I'm surely not paying for this, you know, out of pocket to the point that it's all hanging out like it's a big secret or anything"
Peter then realized this as he quickly tucks his mask away as he grabs his camera.
"Supergirl is a symbol of hope in the darkest of times. A beacon for peace. Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow." Explained Kara.
"Now, your cousin Clark Kent. He's also a journalist for The Daily Planet correct?" Asked Eddie.
"Correct" she said.
"Seems investigative journalism runs in the family." said Eddie.
"Well, we both just love the hunt for the truth. Especially when heroes are constantly under scrutiny by the media for simply doing their job. Kinda like Spider-Man with your publisher The Daily Bugle." Explained Kara.
"Mr. Jameson has his beliefs on Spider-Man and is simply getting to the bottom of his true intentions." Explained Eddie.
Peter gave the okay gesture towards Eddie discretely knowing firsthand Spider-Man is a great hero but they both also value their jobs.
"I know you're just doing whatever Jameson tells you Mr. Brock and I know you probably have your take on the matter, but just remember if not for the brave men and women who put on the suit, who risk their lives for the innocent, if they don't do the job, who will? "Asked Kara.
"A very true and thought provoking question Ms. Danvers. This has been The Brock Report. Thank you all for watching. Good night." said Eddie giving his outro.
"AAAAAND CLEAR!" shouts a Bugle camera man.
"Hey Kara!" Said Peter as the two exchanged a hug.
"This is my friend Eddie Brock. Originally from another universe that got merged into ours" Explained Peter.
"And for the record, I know first hand what...Spider-Man does for New York and for the world." said Eddie with a hush.
"Yeah we just...really need this job" said Peter.
Kara smiled at the two ruffling Peter's hair.
"I'm gonna head out and help the guys pack up the equipment, boss should probably have something for you later." Explained Eddie taking his leave.
"So. Ice-cream?" Asked Kara.
Kara walks with two ice cream cones in hand from the vendor after paying.
"So, Barry gave me the deets. Especially with what's been bothering you." said Kara.
"Isn't that really cold?" Asked Peter as he sees Kara holding the cones with no napkin to keep her hands warm.
"Pssh. I'm Supergirl! Nothing phases me remember?" she answered.
"Right." Peter adds.
"Now. Back to the topic at hand. Sleepless nights. More Multiversal Spider-Mans. And Spider-Woman. Kang..." said Kara.
"It just seems it's all about to go down. And soon." Explained Peter.
"Hey. Nothing is gonna happen to you or anyone else you care about. I know how much you lost the past few months. I know that it's taken a toll on you. I can see it." said Kara.
"I've just been thinking about what Kang said. About making an event greater sacrifice. Kara...I think I'm going to die." said Peter.
"Hey, hey. No you're not. No one is gonna die. Not on my watch anyway." Kara assured.
Peter only looked down at his ice cream. Letting out a sigh of worry.
"Wait. Is that what has been troubling you? All these months?" Asked Kara.
"Not just that. Goblin I...I was this close to killing him. I wanting to hurt him for killing Aunt May. When MJ was falling, he stopped my from saving her. All I can hear is his laugh. That cackle. A pure madman. Like part of me feels unfinished." Explained Peter.
"What do you mean unfinished?" Asked Kara.
"I beat him. But I didn't get rid of him" he answered.
"You did what was right. You cured him and sent him home to his universe. That alone should be enough." Explained Kara.
"Now it feels like I'm supposed to save the whole multiverse or something with this Battleworld coming. Alone" said Peter.
"You're not. You won't be. C'mon now. Where's that chippy, quippy, wisecracking Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man we all know and love?" Asked Kara.
"Just hasn't been the case these days." Explained Peter.
"You'll get your Mojo back." Kara assured with a smile as she puts her arm around him for a side hug.
"I hope so Kara. I really hope so." he said.
