Hello, everybody! Jack of Knaves here with a new Pokèmon Legends: Arceus fic! Admittedly, this concept has been one that's been in my head for a while, and now, it's finally time to put it into production! Well, that's pretty much all on my end. Let's begin!
Prologue
Never One of You
Obsidian Fieldlands-Time Unknown Due To Red Sky
Rei limped up to a rock and sat down beside it, leaning his head back and closing his eyes as rain poured down on him. Everything that had happened today was… a bit much. It had started when his girlfriend, Akari, had woken him up the morning after he had quelled Lord Avalugg's fury. When Rei had emerged from his quarters to find that the Space-Time Rift that had been in the skies above Mount Coronet had grown massive, and the sky had been bathed in crimson. Shortly after, Rei, Akari, Professor Laventon, the leader of the Pearl Clan, Irida, and the leader of the Diamond Clan, Adaman, had all been called to Commander Kamado's office.
A surge of anger coursed through Rei as he recalled what had happened next. Kamado had rounded on him, demanding to know if all of his efforts to quell the frenzied Noble Pokèmon had all been a ruse to gain the trust of the people of Jubilife Village. The commander had been so intimidating that Rei couldn't even muster any words to counter him. Then, there was what Kamado had said next.
"I must ask you to leave. You are no longer welcome on the Galaxy Team," the Commander had said. "Consider yourself banished from this village until you can explain why these calamities keep befalling our good people."
And with that, Rei had been promptly led out of Jubilife Village, with only the six Pokèmon he'd had on him, whatever items Rei had in his satchel, and Captain Cyllene's instructions to not die alone out in the wilderness. Any hopes Rei had had of being taken in by either the Diamond Clan or the Pearl Clan were quickly dashed, as Kamado had all but threatened to go to war with the Clans if they so much as lifted a finger to help him.
Although it was an empty threat in Rei's opinion, as he was certain that if such a thing did happen, the Clans would have the advantage due to having been in Hisui a lot longer than the Galaxy Team, but Rei had confidence that if Kamado was stupid enough to declare war on the Clans, the Clans would more than likely combine forces and overrun the Galaxy Team, a fight that Rei would be more than happy to take part in… on the side of the Clans, of course. However, Kamado's threat still proved to be enough to cow the Clans into not helping Rei, as much as they claimed they wanted to help him.
Truly, Rei had nothing and no one left to turn to… nothing except the six Pokèmon attached to his belt, which as far as he was concerned, were the only beings apart from Professor Laventon, the first real friend Rei had ever made in Hisui, and Akari, who was Rei's girlfriend, in all of Hisui that he could say with the utmost certainty would never dream of turning their back on him and leave him to die like everyone else had that day. This, Rei felt, was especially true for Jin, his Oshawott-now Hisuian Samurott-his first partner that he had gotten from the Professor.
As he sat in the rain, Rei let out a hearty chuckle. As much as Kamado's words dug into Rei like a knife, the more he thought about them, the more they also made him want to laugh. Our good people, Kamado had said. After everything Rei had accomplished since he had been yanked from his bed by Arceus and dumped off here, he wasn't truly a part of the village. Even after he and his Pokèmon partners had quelled all the Noble Pokèmon's frenzies, exponentially accelerated the Survey Corps' Pokèdex Research single-handed, and helped out damn near half the village with their Pokèmon-related problems, after all that… still he was an outsider to be distrusted and regarded with suspicion.
What a fool Rei had been to think otherwise…
If he were honest, a part of Rei wanted to just toss his Arc Phone off a cliff and just go Primeape-shit on the Hisui Region, Jubilife Village in particular… if Kamado wanted him to be the bad guy, then why not be the bad guy, and crush Jubilife Village beneath his heel, and perhaps even the Clans as well if they tried to get in his way. He certainly had more than enough Pokèmon to make a decent army…
Rei shook his head. No, going on the warpath like that would just make his situation worse… besides, even with his skill being leagues above those in the Security Corps by comparison, even he couldn't just single-handedly tear his way through the whole damn Galaxy Team. Plus, that might end up proving Kamado right.
All the same, why in the Hell should he help the people who had turned their backs on him when he needed them most, especially after he and his Pokèmon had shed their blood, sweat, and tears for their sake? No, it was all too clear to Rei that this was how the people of the Hisui Region had chosen to make their bed. Now, as far as he was concerned, they could lie in it.
Although… Rei felt bad for choosing to leave Akari behind… perhaps he could convince her to join him out here and they could start their own clan of sorts… the Platinum Clan had a certain ring to it.
All the same, Arceus wouldn't have sent Rei here if he didn't hold the key to fixing things… and it was only a matter of time before the Clans and the Galaxy Team figured that out too… he needed to make sure that they couldn't find him when that happened, considering the fact that he was essentially severing all ties with them.
Fortunately… Rei thought as he placed his hand on the Ultra Ball that held Merlon, his Alpha Alakazam. I have a Pokèmon who can help with that.
And that's a bingo! If you liked what you saw here, then be sure to fave, follow review, and join us next time as we check in on the Galaxy Team's side of things! See you then!
