It's been two days since Will moved away from Hawkins, and he still hasn't heard from Mike. El has heard from Mike, of course: she's on the phone with him now, in her room, just like she was for hours last night. "Hey, Will," she calls when he passes her on his way to the kitchen, "Mike says hi—" and Will could just strangle them, if he wanted to start something, but he doesn't.

Within the aftermath of a dangerously toxic relationship, Cassandra Grant moves in with her mom's younger brother, Bob. When arriving in Hawkins, she hopes to blend in with the crowd, perfectly content to being a ghost. She doesn't get that wish after her boss gets murdered, which she suspects ties in with the disappearance of the boy she used to babysit.

On the way to Hawkins, Jonathan and El have a talk.

"It was a really, like reeeeaaaally good campaign, my dude," Argyle said, smiling. The younger Byers seemed genuinely pleased with this. He smiled even wider than he did, but then his gaze shifted to his older brother. "You didn't like it?" Jonathan's heart trembled.
