Cody and Lucy's Legacy
Following the mission to Stella, and the destruction of the Dragon Cry, Cody and Lucy were now back in Fiore's capital city of Corvus, as they now walked back to her home.
"Whoa, after that whole ordeal in Stella, I'm just glad to be back in Corvus," he sighed.
"If you like it so much, why don't you move here?" asked the celestial mage.
"I don't know, I'd probably miss everyone else if I did, Lucy. Anyway, What's the deal with Natsu's connection to you? I heard you weep for him, which brought him back to life," replied Cody.
"Well, he is a good friend, but even still he's actually happy that you're my boyfriend, Cody. But still, if I actually did see that he was truly slain, I doubt I'd truly forgive myself. Of course, his visits would often get annoying, and he and Happy would make a huge mess of the place, despite the fact that I'd have to clean it up. But still, he's actually a good person," explained Lucy.
She turned back and smiled at the Son of Xehanort.
"Well, I'm probably making a bigger deal out of it than it is. Anyway, I'll make us dinner, just for both of us," she admitted.
"Right, lead the way, Lucy," chuckled Cody.
At last they came to her apartment, and the landlady was surprised to meet Cody, after Lucy explained that he was her boyfriend. She did let him in, but he did suggest that she put up a sign reading 'No Trespassing' on the front door, so that nobody would even barge in without permission, much to Natsu's annoyance, until Yang clonked him on the head with her cybernetic arm.
"YOW!" he screamed, and ran off back to the guild hall.
Yang followed him, but not before turning back and looking back at Lucy's apartment.
"Take care of him, Lucy," she said, then walked off, as her eyes slowly turned crimson, and her aura got stronger.
"Wow, I'm actually liking your place already, Lucy. But, I don't know how you'd manage to keep it in order," admitted Cody.
"The room and the furniture cost around 4 million jewels. Anyway, make yourself at home," replied Lucy, and she walked off.
Cody nodded, but decided to take a careful look around, while also being careful not to make a mess. The price that Lucy mentioned was indeed a lot of money, which he was unsure of earning, so that he could buy himself a home of his own. Finally, Lucy stepped out in a different set of clothes, which were more casual.
"Are you gonna change out of your dad's clothes or what?" she asked.
"Oh, yeah. I'll change into different clothes in the restroom, if you're okay with it," replied Cody.
Lucy giggled.
"Of course I am, Silly. In fact, I did take this time to shower and freshen up for you," said the celestial mage.
She soon set to work on making a meal for them, with a couple of suggestions from him of course. Lucy wanted to turn the ingredients they got into a stew. Cody was amazed, despite having seen Koshi be a master chef in the Goddess' Dormitory in Seikan University with Sora.
"To be honest, I've taken cooking lessons from Asuna, and I've actually been mastering my craft, slowly but surely. Kirito didn't mind us becoming friends, seeing as he kept himself silent as a tomb," explained Lucy.
That was when she began thinking of some side dishes to go with the meal, which Cody agreed to. Finally, when she finished, it was time to eat. After dinner, they sat at the table, drinking tea.
"It's been almost too long, and this is the first time I've agreed to share a meal with you, a Keyblade Master of Team SKYYYLAARC. I'm so happy I got the biggest reward of my life," sighed Lucy.
"Yeah, me too," replied Cody.
"I'm surprised. Sometimes, I don't know, I get this feeling that we're actually starting to be like a married couple. Have you ever felt like that?" she wondered.
"Yeah, even though there are other girls I love. In fact, there are times when I start to worry that I might be the center of attention for many girls everywhere. It's sort of like with Fluttershy, Destiny, Lunar, Frey, Ikaruga, Yomi, and several others, but we still treat each other like family, regardless of our differences," explained the Son of Xehanort.
"I noticed that you almost turned into Berserker during your final clash with Animus, but you fought back against him and attained your Divine Equestrian form, while Sora turned into his angelic Divine Harmony Form. I guess you two are right about how Fairy Tail is like a family. Anyway, I wish to be with you always. I mean, I really want to meet your family. I have to," Lucy said.
"I'm happy to hear that. And when I introduce Fluttershy, she'll be happy to meet you too, and the same for the others I love. I'm still trying hard to be better than my father," replied Cody.
"I know, but you're a good person. Asuna told me about how many guys looked at her with some twisted pleasure. But even still, you're different from them," she explained.
"Yeah, but I shouldn't push it too far, Lucy. That'd probably lead to you giving me the boot, just like with Natsu and Happy when they barge in without your permission," he sighed, then turned and looked out the window. Maybe I am the biggest idiot of all boys in Earth Land," Cody said wearily, as he turned and looked out the window.
"But I know you're not, Cody. I was actually surprised when you carried me in your arms, and I was also happy when you showed me how beautiful the night sky was in Stella before we fought Zash and Animus. I know how you've always had a bad rep because you have Xehanort's blood in your veins. But, ever since Eclair passed away, it was almost like her spirit was telling me to stay by your side, and I was in awe at how you stood up to my father, Jude Heartfilia, because he often reminded Sora of Weiss' father. Even still, you should never say that you'll end up alone, because of your blood link to your father, but there's no way I'd think of abandoning you. Also, I really like it when you say I'm like an angel," Lucy replied quietly.
"True, but I won't lose myself to darkness. I used to think that I could never have true friends, until I met Yugi Muto and his grandfather Solomon. Of course, I was kind of an impulsive kid, and I'd always get in trouble without thinking of the consequences. I always believed that everyone would get in my way, but I was not thinking straight at all. Sometimes I was always a little too much like Kirito. Unwilling to accept help from anyone, always striking off on my own, and even helping people out when they needed it most, despite being a bit of a lone wolf. But, after meeting you, I found that I could do a lot of things, and you even taught me how to be more appreciative of the people around me, because they know that despite being Xehanort's kid, I still want to do better than what he did," he explained.
By the next morning, after going on another mission to deal with some necromancers that wanted to raise deceased family members to wreak havoc, Cody and Lucy were now back in the apartment, after Gray and Yumi bound Natsu in a block of ice so that he'd be taken to Erza to perform janitorial duty for being too rowdy.
"Hey, Lucy, I was wondering if you think that the clothes my father had are a little too much for you," he said.
"Actually, I think you look great in them. They suit you well," replied Lucy.
Cody sighed in defeat, and slumped onto the couch.
"That's what Frey once told me," groaned the Son of Xehanort.
"I guess I do remind you of her a bit," she admitted.
"No, this is a good time to tell you. Before getting these clothes, I was helping Luigi with some friends of mine clear his mansion of ghosts, which Asuna dislikes immensely," replied Cody.
"I kind of feel a bit sorry for her," sighed Lucy.
But she grew serious for some reason.
"Hey, Cody, I just wanted to know, why do you hate your father, and being treated as evil?" she asked.
Cody glanced at her.
"I mean, it's not like you want anyone to say you're the spawn of a monster who tried to have everyone killed. You do care about people," added the celestial mage.
"It was a long time ago. After I was born, my father once lived in a place called Scala Ad Caelum. During the world tour, he met my mother, Fiona, and they had me after they married. It was small, but even still we were a happy family, until one day he left us behind when I was still an infant. My mother took care of me as best she could, but sadly she was diagnosed with a fatal illness. The doctors told me that she had contracted it after she brought me into this world, and then she passed away when I was just two years old. After being taken in by Yugi and his grandfather, they gave me the name Ulrich Grayson to cover up my true identity. As the apprentice to the King of Games, I learned about kindness, friendship, Duel Monsters, and many more things. I watched him, being with Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Tea Gardner, Duke Devlin, and Bakura, but sometimes Seto Kaiba would start trash talking us, as well as said that I was just a wimp for being Yugi's apprentice, which forced him to protect me, and he'd defeat him in a duel, so as to protect my honor. But one day, Ydoc and Hyena appeared, and with Sora and Chris, it was a duel to save the universe from total destruction. After the Pharaoh told Sora about my real identity, because I inherited the power to wield the Keyblade from my father, and that I was indeed his son. Hence why my full name is Cody Xehanort, the son of the Keyblade Master who tried to destroy everything, after becoming a god," he explained.
Despite hearing his sad story, Lucy slowly stood up, then gently sat down beside Cody and placed her hands on his cheeks after making him face her.
"I'd never leave you, got it? I don't hate you, because you're an honest person, Cody," she said, and gently rested his head against her chest.
The sound of her heart beating in his ear made him feel at ease.
Then, that night, close to midnight, Lucy was asleep in bed, as Cody sat up on his bed, dressed in his night clothes. He still believed that she was an angel, and gently tapped her cheek with his finger.
"Hey, what are you smiling about?" he asked.
"I was just having a dream about my future with you. It was beautiful. In the dream I had, the two of us lived together in a quiet little cottage, in the countryside of Fiore, and our children would call forth the celestial spirits and wield Keyblades of their own. We would both be very happy, knowing that our legacy would go on. I'd really love that," explained Lucy.
"It's a beautiful future. I'd like that too," replied Cody.
"I knew you'd say that. That's why, I just– I'd hate to live in a world without you by my side is all. I know my parents aren't with me, but my destiny is my own. That's exactly what you all taught me," she said.
Lucy slowly sat up, keeping the blanket near her shoulders.
"Also, Cody, I was thinking, maybe we could take some time away from Fairy Tail for a while," continued the celestial mage.
Cody was confused.
"I'm worried. I feel like if either of us came face to face with the revived Ydoc, something bad's gonna happen to everyone, and that would compromise our friends' morality," finished Lucy.
"That's not gonna happen. Although, I'm worried too. When we tell Makarov what you said, I'd like to introduce you to everyone. My family, as well as Sora's. There's a place that's home to a lot of our friends, and it has many houses that we can live in. We can all live together, and then…" Cody explained.
"And then, what?" Lucy asked.
"Then, we'd live like a family," Cody answered firmly.
Lucy was appalled, but then her eyes slowly began to well up with tears, even as she thought long and hard about it. Finally, after a brief couple of seconds, she had her answer.
"Okay," she said, and the two of them shared a passionate kiss with each other.
