Hi guys! I hope you all liked the appearance of Shadow. Now that he and Eggman have met Shion, this story will definitely be interesting. As you know, Shadow can sense chaos energy in Shion, which is possible Sir Lancelot has it without knowing. In order to make sure he can control it well; Shadow offers to train him in exchange for residency in Sonic's shack. Let's see how the others will react to it. Enjoy!
Everyone looked at Shadow in disbelief, as if he had a second head. Even Sonic gazed at him in shock, while Shion is busy sucking on his thumb. They all stared at him in astonishment for a few minutes, until Shadow was tired of their staring and snarled at them.
"If you buffoons are done looking at me, then you know what I meant!"
Sonic frowned, holding Shion protectively in his arms. "I doubt my baby has chaos energy. It's not possible!"
"Sonic's right! I even did a scan on them every month right until Shion was born! There was no detection of any foreign energy within him!" Tails proclaimed.
"We're not falling for your trick, punk!" Amy glared at Shadow.
"I think I'm ready to punch you!" Knuckles got up from his seat.
"Save the beating for me! I want him to feel my pain!" Sticks snarled while holding her staff in a threatening manner.
Scoffing at their weak threats, Shadow looked back at Sonic. "I'm not lying. I can sense who or what has chaos energy, and your pup obviously has it."
"I need more than your words to know if you're lying or not," Sonic said.
"Figures you wouldn't believe me in the first place," Shadow brought his arms out. "Hand your baby over to me."
"And why would I do that?"
"To give you proof that my words aren't lies. Like I said before, I'm a villain not a monster. I don't hurt the innocent."
Sonic looked at Shion, who was busy sucking on his thumb while gazing at him with his innocent green eyes. It's true Shadow wouldn't dare hurt a small child, but the stuff he did in the past still lingers in Sonic's mind. He said he'll show everyone proof that Shion has chaos energy like Shadow, and if he's right, then Shadow will be the one training Shion to control his chaos energy.
However, his instincts are telling him to keep his baby safe from harm. He's not sure if what Shadow says is true, but the safety of his shooting star comes first. His friends are here in the room, and they will make sure no harm comes to Shion. Shadow does not want to fight against a protective parent, aunts, and uncles.
Standing up from his seat, he looked at Shadow with a critical look, and carefully handed Shion over to Shadow. Making sure Shadow is holding Shion properly, he folded his arms and glared at him. "Don't make me regret this. One wrong move, and you're toast."
Shadow smirked, and then looked down at Shion, who was snuggled against Shadow's chest fur. Shadow touched Shion's hand, closing his eyes as he felt his chaos energy surrounding him. A green aura appeared around his frame, stunning Team Sonic as they felt the atmosphere getting heavy. Then, a light green aura surrounded Shion, who was happily giggling as green sparks appeared from his body.
Soon, the auras faded away and the sparks no longer appeared on Shion. Shadow opened his eyes, lightly smirking as he gazed down at Shion. "I was right. He too wields the same energy as me."
Sonic gaped at him in shock, as did the rest of the team. His own baby can wield chaos energy like Shadow, and how come sparks appeared on his body? Is that from the chaos energy Shadow mentioned? Why was it not detected by Tails whenever he gets a check-up by him?
Shadow glanced at Tails. "The only reason you couldn't pick up the chaos energy is because it's hard to detect with simple technology. You need advanced technology with a sample of chaos energy in order to detect it in people or objects."
Tails put on a thinking pose. "You kind of made a good point there. So does that mean-
"I won't give you a sample of mine, nor can you get it from the baby."
Sonic frowned, placing his hands on his hips. "His name is Shion, Shadow. Now please give me back my baby."
"Not yet, hedgehog. You haven't given me your answer."
"May I ask why you want to stay here? Don't you have a home of your own?"
"My cave can't count after Eggman discovered it."
"So you want to avoid Eggman?"
"You're half right. I also want to see how well your pup can wield chaos energy at this age."
Shion cooed while grabbing Shadow's finger, studying his hand including his white chest fur. Shadow smirked softly at Shion, and Sonic swore he saw a hint of a smile stretching Shadow's lips. Though it was hard to tell since he was mostly smirking. But not only that, he had never seen Shadow act like that towards a baby. It's like he's seeing an imposter impersonating Shadow who is trying to trick him. Either way, he still can't believe what he's seeing in front of him is real.
But without the smirk and with an actual smile, it's almost like Sir Lancelot is actually here with Sonic, holding his pup in his arms while cooing at him. Sonic wished Lance is able to know he's a father, and he gave Shion his father's name as his middle name. If only there was a way for Lancelot to see his pup and hold him in real life.
Rubbing his eyes to prevent himself from crying, Sonic looked back at Shadow. "As long as this isn't a trick to attack me and my friends, then you're welcome to stay here with me and help Shion control his chaos energy."
He held his hand out to the side when the others stood up to protest. "Don't make me regret my decision, Shadow. If I see a small scratch on my shooting star, then you'll be dealing with an angry parent."
Shadow's smirk widened, as he handed Shion back to Sonic. "You have my word, Faker."
"First rule, do not call me faker. Call me by my real name," Sonic held one finger up.
"Whatever you say, Sonic," Shadow chuckled, and teleported out of thin air.
Tails looked around. "He's gone?"
"Hah! He got scared of us and ran off like a chicken!" Knuckles laughed.
"Or he'll come back to destroy us! He's obviously planning something evil!" Sticks exclaimed in agony.
Amy looked at Sonic with a concerned expression. "Sonic, are you sure it's a good idea for Shadow to stay with you? This could be an evil plan that can hurt you and Shion."
"I have no choice, Amy," Sonic sighed, sadly looking at Shion. "You saw Shadow emitting chaos energy, and Shion had it as well. The only way for Shion to control it is Shadow teaching him." He looked at her. "You also heard him. He's a villain, not a monster. Didn't you see him gazing at Shion with a fond expression? He has a soft spot for children."
"Well, I still don't trust him," she folded her arms over her chest. "I think you should stay with one of us so he'll know he isn't welcome here."
"I can't do that, Amy. I told him he can stay here, and his only home is a cave. Plus, Shion seems to like him."
"He has no idea Shadow is one of our worst enemies!"
"Who I'm pretty sure is an evil alien who wants to enslave us!" Sticks waved her hands frantically.
"Amy has a point. What if it's all a trap?" Tails pointed out. "We'll need to take precautions."
"Ooh! Ooh! I want to set the traps! Pick me!" Knuckles waved his hand in the air frantically.
"We'll be fine, guys. I'll give you a call if Shadow is up to something. I have my communicator," Sonic showed them his communicator attached to his right wrist.
Amy sighs. "Alright, but he'll have to fix what he broke in this shack." She pointed to the damaged wall. "Along with cleaning the outside since he ruined our picnic."
It was evening time when Shadow suddenly teleported in Sonic's shack. Luckily, Sonic had just finished feeding Shion his milk, and is now burping him. Gently patting his back while walking around, he looked over and saw a huge sack near Shadow's feet. "Had to get stuff from your cave?"
Shadow scoffed, folding his arms over his chest. "None of your concern, hedgehog."
"Let me guess, you didn't sleep well?"
"I slept fine, thank you very much."
"Whatever," Sonic continued to pat Shion's back, and soon heard a loud burp from him. "Good job, sweetheart."
Shion happily cooed, as Sonic wiped his mouth with a towel. Making sure he doesn't need another burping, Sonic placed Shion in his bassinet and turned on the mobile. "Get some sleep, shooting star. I gotta make dinner for myself and for Mr. Grumpy Pants."
"I'm right here, Sonic," Shadow growled.
"Take a nap, Shadow. You obviously need some sleep," Sonic went to his kitchen, getting the ingredients out from the fridge to cook dinner. "I'll make some chicken and rice with veggies for dinner. You okay with that?"
Hearing no answer, Sonic figured he already took his nap and started prepping the food. Thankful for the rice cooker Amy gifted him at the baby shower she threw for him, Sonic used it to prepare the rice as he worked on cleaning the chicken, seasoning, and cutting it. He washed his veggies, cut it, and placed them on the side so he can cook them on the same pan.
He hummed a small tune as he placed the chicken on the hot pan with oil, hearing it sizzle as he flipped each side with a pair of tongs. He could hear the mobile playing a song for Shion, which was 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. Sonic hummed along to it, as he continued to cook the food.
He almost forgot Shadow is here, but he didn't care if the humming would bother him. This is Sonic's home, and Shadow will have to get use to the humming since Shion loves listening to his voice. And who knows? It could lull Shadow to sleep if he had any problems sleeping.
Once the chicken is finished, he cooked the veggies next to mix in the sauce and seasoning. He heard a ding from the rice cooker, indicating the rice is now done. Getting the plates out and turning off the stove, he placed the rice on two plates, then placed the chicken and veggies on top of the rice. The scent of a home-cooked meal made Sonic's stomach grumble, as he placed the dirty dishes in the sink.
Cleaning his hands, he placed a spoon in each plate, picked them up, and brought them over to his dining table. "Food is ready!"
He went back to the kitchen and opened the fridge, getting a pitcher of grape juice out. Pouring the juice in two cups until they were nearly full, he placed the pitcher back in the fridge, picked up the cups, and brought them over to the table for each plate. He glanced up to see if Shadow is coming, and was surprised to find him hovering near the bassinet, looking directly at Shion.
Rushing over, Sonic looked inside the bassinet and sighed in relief, seeing Shion is asleep. He then glanced at Shadow. "He'll wake up again in a few hours. Right now, we can eat before the food gets cold."
Shadow's eyes flickered at Sonic, and then back to Shion. "Since when can you cook?"
"Ever since I learned I was gonna be a parent. Amy made me take those cooking classes so I can make something else besides chili dogs."
"And you agreed to those lessons?"
"I had to. While Shion is still young, he can't eat solid foods until he gets bigger. So for now, he drinks milk until he is ready to try new foods once he gets older. Plus, I gotta get my strength back in case Eggbutt tries to attack the village."
"Eggman is a fool. He's not a real villain."
"Try telling him that," Sonic shrugged. "But anyways, let's eat before the food gets cold. Shion won't wake up since his mobile is helping him sleep."
Shadow looked at Shion for another minute, and then sighed as he followed Sonic to the dinner table. They sat down at their spots, and started to eat. Dinner was silent, but Sonic could tell Shadow is enjoying the food. He was even surprised that the food looked great, and was certain Shadow just gave him a compliment.
"I'm surprised it wasn't poisoned. Luckily, nothing can kill me."
Pretending he didn't hear the last sentence, Sonic focused on his meal as he continued to eat. As they finished, Sonic asked Shadow if he wanted seconds, but he shook his head and stated he was full as he got up and left the table, muttering a thank you as he went to the couch and sat on it, folding his arms and crossing his legs while closing his eyes.
Sonic smiled a little, glad Shadow is being a good houseguest as he took the dirty dishes and placed them in the sink. He started washing them while glancing over at Shadow, who looked like he was brooding on the couch. Sonic wasn't sure if he was sleeping or taking a nap, but as long as Shadow is on his best behavior with no fighting involved, then his shack will be peaceful.
He opened his eyes when he heard crying coming from the bassinet. Checking the clock, it was already past midnight. Letting out a huge yawn, he tried to sit up but something was preventing him. He looked down to see a pair of arms wrapped around his waist, and he looked behind him to see who it was.
Shadow was sleeping on his side facing Sonic, and he was the one holding Sonic. Sonic would've wondered why Shadow is in his bed, but decided to wait since his baby is crying. Carefully unwrapping Shadow's arms off his waist, he got up and went over to the bassinet, scooping up Shion in his arms and softly shushing him.
"Don't cry, my shooting star. Tell me what's wrong."
Shion still cried, and Sonic checked to see if his diaper needed a change. His diaper isn't dirty, so he listened to his stomach. A growling noise was heard, and Sonic realized he was hungry again. Sitting on the bed, he held Shion close to him as his baby latched on and drank his milk. It's a good thing Shadow is sleeping so he wouldn't see this. It'll be awkward if he learned his rival can breastfeed.
Gently patting Shion's back as he drank his mama's milk, Sonic softly sang to him as he held him close.
When the last eagle flies
Over the last crumbling mountain
And the last lion roars
At the last dusty fountain
In the shadows of all the forests
Though she may be old and worn
They will stare unbelieving
At the last unicorn
Shion continued to drink his milk, feeling warm and safe in his mama's arms. He loved hearing his mama sing, knowing his mama will always be there for him. Though he does wonder if his papa can also sing like mama? If not, then his soft chest fur is a good place to sleep on.
When the first breath of winter
Through the flowers is icing
And you look to the north
And the pale moon is rising
And it seems like all is dying
And would leave the world to mourn
In the distance hear the laughter
Of the last unicorn
Shion finished his milk, and Sonic gently placed him near his shoulder as he patted his back. Hearing a burp, Shion yawned cutely as he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Sonic slowly and carefully placed Shion in his bassinet, tucked him in with a blanket, and kissed his cheek as he hears his baby snoring. Smiling at the cute sight, Sonic yawned and laid back down on the bed.
He closed his eyes and soon fell asleep, softly snoring. He didn't realize that Shadow had been awakened by Shion's crying, and witnessed Sonic tending to his pup. He had no idea his rival can sing, and his voice sounded really nice. Who knew Sonic the Hedgehog is a nurturing mother to his pup. It almost brought a smile to Shadow's face.
As he laid back down on the bed and watched his rival sleep, a question mark appeared in his mind. Why was it that song almost sounded familiar to him? Where had he heard it before? He decided to think about it another time as he closed his eyes, hoping to get some peaceful sleep. He also did not hugged Sonic. Sonic was the one hugging him.
Hope you all liked it! In case you're wondering what Sonic sang, it's called The Last Unicorn by Groove Coverage. You definitely need to listen to it. It's amazing! Review and comment, please!
