[SUMMARY] AU: Two orphans, two pariahs. They were children who grew up ostracized by their own people, for some reason unknown to them. They had nothing and no one, until they became each other's everything. She saved him, and his drive to protect came to life. He stood by her side, and her dream of change bloomed. Hand in hand, they would face anything. Together, they would shake the World.
AN: This first chapter is more like a Prologue. Here I attempted to make sense of The Narutoverse's Timeline while changing it enough to fit my story in. It will cover from Hagoromo's death until the year of Naruto's birth and there is no "narrative", as it is basically a list of events of The Elemental Nations' history. You will notice that I twisted some canon facts. I.e, I merged the Second and Third Shinobi World War into a single one. Keep in mind that I didn't do a thorough research, so I might have screwed a few things up. I also kept some details off of it because I didn't want to give you any spoilers. All I can say for now is that there will be no Indra/Asura Transmigration and I changed Hagoromo and Hamura legacies a bit. But everything will be revealed at the right time. The story will effectively begin in Chapter II. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
TOGETHER
CHAPTER I
Void Era (VE)
There is almost none evidence of what happened during The Void Era or how humanity and its culture came to be in the Elemental Nations. The death of Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo defined the end of The Void Era.
Feudalization Era (FE)
Year 1 of FE began when Hagoromo died and his sons, Indra and Asura, began to fight each other. During this time, the economic power and lands began to concentrate in the hands of few. Fiefs began to appear and Daimyōs were raised to power. At the same time, Chakra-wielding Clans grew in numbers and strength. Around the 4th century of the FE the Elemental Nations adopted their first writing system, which finally allowed information to be properly registered. At 1001 FE, a Chakra-wielding Clan was hired for the first time by a Daimyō, who used them to his advantage against a rival Daimyō. The event marked the beginning of a new Era.
Warring Era (WE)
During The Warring Era many Chakra-wielding Clans gained prestige, but the most feared and powerful of them were The Senju, The Uchiha, The Uzumaki and The Hyūga. While Senju and Uchiha were enemies for as long as it was remembered, the other two were mostly neutral towards each other. But it was also a fact that the Senju and Uzumaki were mostly friendly with each other, while the same was true with the Uchiha and Hyūga.
The Warring Era lasted for two hundred years and its closure was defined by the truce between Senju and Uchiha, who revolted against and dethroned several Daimyōs. They united numerous small countries into one, creating Hi no Kuni and establishing a Military Dictatorship. Unfortunately, the Senju Clan lost most of their members during the conquest and Uchiha Izuna, brother of the Uchiha leader, Uchiha Madara, died as well. The Warring Era ended at the end of its 201th year. The year followed by it was marked by the founding of Hi no Kuni's capital, Konohagakure no Sato, at the beginning of the first year of the Shinobi Era.
Shinobi Era (SE)
Following the example of the Senju and Uchiha, the clans around the Elemental Nations revolted against their Daimyōs and founded their own countries and Hidden Villages. By 5 of SE, all Five Great Nations were free from the Daimyōs and the Five Great Kages reigned and many powerful Clans had joined Konoha, including the Hyūga Clan. The Uzumaki opted to isolate themselves on an island surrounded by whirlpools and founded their own village; Uzushiogakure no Sato.
At 11 SE Uzushio sent two Uzumaki to Konoha, in order to establish an alliance. They were Uzumaki Mito and Uzumaki Hiroshi.
At 12 SE Mito and Hiroshi married and had a son called Uzumaki Yoshio. In the same year, Senju Hashirama, First Hokage of Konoha, married Senju Masako and had a daughter called Senju Katsumi. Uchiha Madara married Uchiha Yoko and had a son called Uchiha Kagami.
Still, many small conflicts happened around the World for territory claiming reasons. Madara, Hashirama's second in command, acted on his own will several times and started many of said conflicts. Madara believed that Konoha should dominate all other Nations in order to achieve true peace.
At 17 SE Madara went so far to demand Iwa's subservience by attacking Mū and his apprentice Ōnoki, who was 12 at the occasion, inside their own country.
At 18 SE Madara left Konoha after constant disagreements with Hashirama. Madara tried to convince the other Uchiha to join him but they refused, even his wife.
During year 19 SE Madara launched multiple unsuccessful attacks against Konoha. At 20 SE Madara and Hashirama battled for the last time and their might was so great that it reshaped the land, creating the Valley of the End. Madara, who had the Kyūbi under his control, was defeated and Uzumaki Mito sealed the Kyūbi into herself.
At 21 SE Suna managed to capture the Ichibi and Hashirama set off on a journey to seal away the other Beasts.
At 22 SE Hashirama captured all the remaining Beasts, except the Nanabi. Before Hashirama could seal the Seven-Tails, Takigakure Shinobi intercepted him. Kakuzu fought Hashirama while other members of his village sealed the Beast. Kakuzu almost died but managed to survive and complete his mission.
At 23 SE Hashirama met with the Five Great Kage and offered them the Beasts he captured, not including the Kyūbi, in exchange for money, which he would use to improve Konoha. The First Kazekage, Reto, refused and, instead, demanded a portion of Hi no Kuni's fertile lands and 30% of Konoha's share of the Bijū's trading with the other Nations.
Although the negotiations went relatively well, the other Kages saw Hashirama's offer as power flexing, increasing tensions. Still, Konoha flourished with the money it got from the sale of the Bijū. Fearing the Uzumaki and Hashirama's ability to easily subdue their newly acquired Bijū, the remaining Four Great Nations formed an alliance to neutralize them.
At 28 SE Iwa, Kumo and Kiri invaded Uzushiogakure no Sato with full force, while Suna delayed the reinforcements that Konoha sent, but purposefully let the Shinobi platoon led by Hashirama to go through. That particular platoon was composed of Hashirama, Tobirama, Uzumaki Hiroshi and almost all of the remaining Senju Clan.
The Battle of Uzu ended with the destruction of the Uzumaki Clan, save for a few that managed to escape, who didn't manage to reach Konoha, for various unknown reasons. Hashirama and Hiroshi lost their lives, but took the First Raikage(Ē), The First Mizukage(Byakuren) and The First Tsuchikage(Ishikawa) with them. Except for Tobirama, and the very few that fought Suna or stayed in Konoha, the Senju Clan was also destroyed. During the battle, Tobirama managed to rescue, and bring to Konoha, Uzumaki Sachiko, who was 16-years-old. Sachiko was granddaughter of Uzumaki Ashina, the leader of the Uzumaki and Uzushio.
Enraged by the outcome of the battle, Tobirama blamed Suna's interference for it and ordered the assassination of the First Kazekage. Upon his brother's death, Tobirama became The Second Hokage and tried to honor Hashirama's dream of peace (AN: If you ignore the assassination of Reto, of course). At 29 SE Tobirama created Konoha's Shinobi Academy and, at 30 SE, the Chūnin Exams.
The First Shinobi World War
Still bitter about the loss of their Kages and thousands of their Shinobi at The Battle of Uzu, at 31 SE Iwa, Kiri and Kumo declared war at Konoha. Despite having the same motives, Suna lacked the resources and opted to stay out of the War. In the same year Tobirama created Konoha's Military Police Force and gave its command for the Uchiha Clan. The ANBU was also formed in the same year.
Still in 31 SE, Uchiha Kagami married Uchiha Michiko and had a son called Uchiha Setsuna (who would later father Uchiha Shisui at 55 SE). All Five Nations were severely weakened after The Battle of Uzu, so The War didn't last long.
In 34 SE Kumo proposed an armistice to Konoha, claiming that they could no longer afford War. Tobirama, with an escort team, went to Kumo personally to sign the armistice. There, the Kinkaku and Ginkaku Brothers attempted to assassinate him and The Second Raikage(Ē), claiming that they didn't want peace.
Tobirama and his team managed to escape, but the Hokage sensed a whole platoon of Shinobi chasing them. Among the Shinobi he sensed, not only the Kin-Gin Brothers but also, The Second Raikage, The Second Mizukage(Hōzuki Gengetsu) and The Second Tsuchikage(Mū).
Quickly realizing that the armistice proposal was a ploy to kill him, Tobirama said to his team that one should stay behind to serve as a decoy for the others to escape. As Sarutobi Hiruzen volunteered, Tobirama named him his successor and stayed behind. Tobirama died that day, but took all of his enemies with him.
After the event, the Five Nations agreed that neither could afford War any longer and an armistice was finally signed, which lasted for 20 years.
Right after the end of the War, Hiruzen took three clanless orphans as his students; Orochimaru, Jiraiya and Tsunade. While Jiraiya and Orochimaru never met their parents, Tsunade lost hers in the War and had to raise her younger brother, Nawaki, by herself.
At 42 SE Uzumaki Sachiko and Uzumaki Yoshio married and had a daughter called Uzumaki Kushina. Senju Katsumi married Senju Kazuo and had a son called Senju Minato. Uchiha Kagami and Uchiha Michiko had children again; twin daughters called Uchiha Mikoto and Uchiha Miyoko.
At 43 SE Nawaki, who was 12-years-old, died during a mission.
At 51 SE Uzumaki Kushina, who was 9-years-old, became the new Jinchūriki of the Kyūbi. Her grandmother, Uzumaki Mito, died after the transfer.
The First War devastated The Elemental Nations, both geographically and economically, though some Nations recovered better than others. The most affected by the backlash of the War were Suna and Iwa, since they had few fertile lands.
At 52 SE the Second Kazekage, Shamon, was assassinated. Suna blamed Konoha, but no one ever knew the true culprit (AN: I bet it was Danzō). Still, Suna launched an attack to Konoha's borders in "retaliation". The Suna Shinobi were led by Sasori's parents, who were killed by Hatake Sakumo at the occasion. Both Sasori and his grandmother, Chiyo, began to hate the man for it.
Around 53 SE Suna and Iwa began to launch aggressive attacks against Konoha borders, seeking to claim its lands. In the same year Kumo tried to kidnap Kushina, but failed thanks to Senju Minato.
The Second Shinobi World War
At 54 SE Konoha had no option but to declare War against Kumo, Iwa and Suna, though the confrontations with Kumo were mild in the first years of the War. Unfortunately, Ame became the battlefield between Konoha, Iwa and Suna. Hanzō, leader of Ame, entered the fight and faced all three Nations at some point, but fought Konoha the most. At one of the greatest massacres suffered by Konoha's forces, Hanzō dubbed Tsunade, Jiraiya and Orochimaru the Legendary Sannin. Hanzō's power was so great that, eventually, the other three Nations began to avoid Ame to fight each other.
At 55 SE, Tsunade lost her lover Katō Dan in the War. Despite her growing disliking for the War and her own village, Tsunade was fundamental to Konoha's success, as she managed to counter every poison made by Chiyo, trained numerous Shinobi, in the battlefield, in Iryō Ninjutsu and convinced Hiruzen to integrate at least one Iryō-nin into every three-man team.
During all of it Tsunade created her Byakugō Seal and took Uchiha Miyoko, Hyūga Hizashi and Katō Shizune, Dan's niece, as her own students. In the same year, Jiraiya found and trained three orphans, named Yahiko, Konan and Nagato (Nagato was Uzumaki, but Jiraiya never learned that) at Ame until 56 SE, when he returned to Konoha and took Senju Minato, Uzumaki Kushina and Uchiha Mikoto as his students.
At 57 SE Kumo began to launch more aggressive campaigns and Kiri joined the War, hoping to capitalize on Konoha's precarious situation. Until then, Konoha was the only one which never sent children Genin into the battlefield, but the multiple fronts they were engaging forced Hiruzen to do so, in order to keep up with the other Nations. At 59 SE Minato took Uchiha Obito, Nohara Rin and Hatake Kakashi as his students.
Due to its lack of resources, Suna couldn't afford to fight Konoha for much longer. So, at 62 SE, Konoha and Suna signed an armistice, which made Suna withdraw from the War. Fearing the possibility of an alliance between Konoha and Suna, Iwa and Kumo tried to ally themselves with each other. The negotiations were interrupted by someone who tried to assassinate both the Third Raikage(Ē) and Third Tsuchikage(Ōnoki). Both survived and the assassin escaped, but both Kages assumed that they were deceived, leading to Iwa and Kumo to fight each other (AN: Smells like Danzō again, but no one ever managed to discover who was the assassin or who sent them).
At 63 SE Sasori assassinated the Third Kazekage, enraged for the Kage signing an armistice with the ones who killed his parents, before leaving his village. Rasa rose as the Fourth Kazekage and kept Suna away from the War.
In the same year Tsunade and Shizune left Konoha. Tsunade was already traumatized by the death of her parents, Nawaki and Dan, and the constant exposure to the gores of War made her develop hemophobia. Team Minato was tasked to destroy Kannabi Bridge, which led to the supposed death of Uchiha Obito. Maito Dai sacrificed himself to save his troops from Kiri Shinobi. Opening the 8 Gates, Dai killed six of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist before succumbing.
At 64 SE Orochimaru took on a Genin team, which Mitarashi Anko was part of. Nohara Rin was kidnaped by Kiri and made the Jinchūriki of the Sanbi. In order to stop Kiri's plan of releasing the Sanbi inside Konoha, Rin asked Kakashi for him to kill her. Obito witnessed the event, which made him unlock the Mangekyō Sharingan and kill the Kiri Shinobi who were chasing Rin.
The Third Mizukage led one last push against Konoha but they were defeated and the Mizukage was killed by Uchiha Fugaku. Karatachi Yagura, who would become the Sanbi Jinchūriki years later, rose as the Fourth Mizukage and withdrew Kiri from the War. Minato and Kushina faced Kirā Bī and Ē (Future Fourth Raikage) in battle and won, sparing their lives.
At 65 SE Danzō manipulated Hanzō to confront the first iteration of the Akatsuki, making Yahiko sacrifice himself. Shortly after, Tobi took control of the Akatsuki by manipulating Nagato. The Third Raikage battled ten thousand Iwa Shinobi for three days and nights and died after it. His son assumed the Kage position. After his father death, and his own defeat against Minato, Ē withdrew Kumo from the war.
After so much destruction The Five Nations agreed into an armistice, but Iwa was reluctant to sign it. In a last effort, The Third Tsuchikagu sent one hundred of its strongest Jōnin, including his wife and son, to strike Konoha but they were killed in seconds by Minato. Iwa finally agreed to sign the treaty.
The Second Shinobi War ended but there was a faction within Konoha, led by Danzō, who wanted War to continue and claimed that Hiruzen was weak for not seeking indemnity from the other Nations. To avoid War from starting again, Hiruzen stepped down and named Minato the Fourth Hokage. Both Orochimaru and Fugaku thought that they deserved the job more than Minato and became bitter against the village. Minato summoned a Kage Summit and convinced the others to increase the Genin Graduation age to 14-years-old, due the severe loss of children during the War. By the end of the War, Minato and Kushina were the last known alive Senju and Uzumaki, respectively.
At 66 SE the pair that would forever change the Elemental Nations were born; Naruto and Hinata.
