Twitter Prompt: When Chloe goes to break up the party at LUX, Ella tags along with her, eventually joining Linda and the Goddess as they watch Lucifer and Chloe dance together. After Chloe saves LUX and Lucifer asks her out to dinner, she mentions their not-date to Ella, who immediately starts talking about how Lucifer looked at her that night and how obvious it is how he feels about her.

This time Chloe is the one to freak out and Lucifer is stood up at the restaurant.

Chloe catches wind of the report about Lux's 'illegal' operation (most likely initiated by Eleanor Bloom) that she drops everything and volunteers to accompany the unis to the said club. The boos they receive when they walk down those stairs weren't enough to deter the boys in blue.

Lucifer's face falls when they do not even take a second look at the excessive amount of bribe money he has on his hands. Or perhaps it was due to a certain detective that the usually proud owner takes a step back as if doused with cold water.

"Detective, you're with them?"

She doesn't answer, but she addresses the unis, tells them she'll handle it from here, and makes them leave.

"Lucifer, what were you thinking?"

The club owner looks at her like he'd been sorely reprimanded until she tells him, "Turn the music back on, this place is dead."

That shit-eating grin on his face when he instructs the DJ to do as she asks makes her smile as well.

"Detective, does this mean you're on my side now?"

"Lucifer, this is your home. I'm always on your side."

She sees the relief on his face at her reassurance; then, not a moment too soon, he drags her to the dance floor even though she insists she doesn't want to dance.

The Goddess watches the scene unfold before her, confused as to why that blonde intervened yet again. Before she could dwell on it, she gets distracted by a very bubbly, very all-sunshine-and-rainbows character who's chatting up the doctor. Doctor Linda doesn't hesitate to introduce them, and in the same Ella fashion, the Goddess is enveloped in a bone-crushing hug.

"Aaw, those two are sooooo sweet. Anyway, I need a refill of pina colada. Can I get you guys anything?"

"I'm good," Linda says, and the Goddess just throws the forensic scientist a look of disdain as if that would discourage the latter.

"He really does love this place, doesn't he?"

"Hmm, this place."

God's ex-wife takes a second look and finally sees what the doctor sees.

"Lucifer's right; you're quite insightful, Doctor."

For once in his eternal life, Lucifer is somewhat left speechless at the gesture. He never even asked her for any favors, yet she helped without hesitation. So he goes,

"Right, well, let me at least buy you dinner tonight to celebrate. I know this amazing steak house, and the chef's an absolute artist in the kitchen. I mean, he's also a generate gambler and owes me a favor," He blurts out almost in one go while the Detective listens attentively. "Otherwise, you'll just go home and eat one of those poisonous sandwiches you get from the vending machine at work."

Chloe's lips turn up at the mention of 'poisonous' sandwiches. She doesn't really understand his hate for such, but to each his own.

"Come on, Detective. Friends help each other out."

The Detective nods, and she leaves Lux with a massive smile on her face, very much excited about the invitation.

Chloe drops by the precinct to pick up some files from Ella (truthfully, she could have done that the next day but hello, workaholic!) and casually mentions the prior events.

"Oh my God! Finally!"

"What do you mean?"

"The guy's head over heels for you, Decker. It doesn't take a genius at all. I mean, did you even notice the way he looked at you when you were dancing together?"

"You were there?"

"Yep! It could have been a tribe night, but I didn't want to interrupt. You two were all heart eyes and stuff, sooo cute! Can't wait to see them deckerstar babies."

"Deckerstar?" And babies? What?

"Your ship name and I'm the captain. Decker- Morningstar equals Deckerstar. I'm sure Lucifer wouldn't oppose it. In any case, I'm so happy for you both."

"I — it's not a date."

"Uh-huh. Sure."

"It's really not."

"Okay, Decker. Now, skedaddle!" The analyst says in a fake British tone as she leads the Detective to the door.

Well, shit. Does she need this right now? But Lucifer's her friend, and it's not a date. Or is it? And if it is, what then?

It bothered Chloe so much since she arrived back at her apartment that she failed to notice it was already dark outside. There had been several messages and calls from Lucifer, which she also missed because she was so engrossed at the thought of what would happen to this not-date.

She's about to call him back when she receives his last message.

10:00 PM

LM: I'm headed back to Lux, Detective. See you in the morning.

She reads the string of messages before the most recent one and mutters under her breath.

Fucccckkkk.

7:00 PM

LM: I'm here, Detective.

7:30 PM

LM: I take it you got stuck in a horrible gridlock? No matter. I shall wait for you.

7:45 PM
LM: I hope you don't mind, but I've ordered their specials for both of us. It's ready to be served when you get here.

8:30 PM

LM: Detective? Are you alright?

9:00 PM

LM: Detective?

How will she explain to Lucifer that she chickened out at the last minute? Jesus! Why didn't she call him and tell him she couldn't make it instead?

It's eight thirty, but no Detective in sight, and this got Lucifer worried. He calls her number, but she doesn't pick up, and he thinks perhaps she's been called to a crime scene. Although she would have called him.

So, the devil calls in a favor and has them check the location of the Detective's cruiser.

Well, she could have taken an uber.

He thinks and waits.

And waits.

A few women tried to vie for his attention, but he ignored them, his eyes almost glued to his phone, waiting for something.

By then, it's already so late, and even though he hates to admit it, it does appear that the Detective had stood him up.

He's not exactly sure how he feels about that.

Morning comes, and Chloe is already dreading the day because she has to relive the events that led to her father's death in the courtroom. Yet she's hopeful that her father will get the justice he deserves this time.

A knock on the door shakes her out of her reverie and reveals her very enthusiastic partner, who lets himself in to greet her and her mother.

"Lucifer, what are you doing here? I mean, first, I want to apologize about — "

"Sshhh!" Lucifer puts his index finger over Chloe's mouth, which annoyed the latter so much she wants to slap him, but she's still feeling guilty about leaving him high and dry and — "I heard from Sir Dou– I mean, Daniel that the trial is today. Consider me your emotional jock to help you through this difficult time." He continues without letting her speak.

"Oh, what a sweet man," Penelope exclaims, and the Detective couldn't help but roll her eyes. Although, yes, she could at least admit to herself that it is indeed sweet of him to be by her side.

Chloe swears she'll make it up to her partner once this trial ends, no matter the outcome. However, she is pretty sure this time should be a landslide win. That is until they heard about Boris being decapitated.

In the end, Perry Smith is acquitted and cleared of the charges. It's a hard pill to swallow, especially for Chloe and her mom, but there was nothing else that they could do.

Even though it wasn't her desired outcome, it proved something else entirely; Lucifer trusts her as much as she trusts him. That, and she really, really, likes him.

So the Detective invites Lucifer over to the apartment on short notice. He shows up a few minutes later with burgers and fries in hand, and they eat in considerable silence until she's apologizing again for that night.

"It's alright, Detective. Is there anything else you need?"

"No. I have everything I need at the moment." Chloe reaches out for his hands.

"Detective, what you said in the courtroom…."

"Was the truth."

They stared at each other for a split second, and either isn't sure who made a move first, but when their lips touched, it felt like everything was right in the world again.

Author's Note:
Managed to *strangle* (lmao) a few words from my muse to write for this prompt. I hope I did it justice. Still with a massive writer's block tho. Ughh.
