The Next Day
"Huh? Huh? Did I fall asleep?" Hayami said when she found that she had just woken in her bed. "Fuck. I did fall asleep. That explains it."
She took a look at her clothes. She was still in her Demon Slayer uniform with her sword sheathed securely in her white belt. "I didn't even get a chance to change my clothes," she said. "I must've been so tired that I happened to pass out." She took a moment to clutch her uniform. "Makes sense. I did work pretty damn hard yesterday."
Hayami got out of bed and made it accordingly. She was smart enough to not forget the easy, routine things that everyone had to do. After breakfast it was time to go and practice the last three forms. So they made their way to the woods to make that happen.
* * *"Icy Eye Ability," Hayami thought aloud. "Is that something within me or do I need to learn it?" She searched the book for the Tenth Form once again and realized that it was something that she had inside of her, but it took training to perfect it to a normal Demon Slayer level.
Hayami focused on her spirit, allowing just enough of its power to flow into her eyes to activate the Icy Eye Ability. She opened her eyes and could instantly aim at the top of the tree and get a precise hit at that.
"Tenth Form: Frostbite Clash!" she called out. Instantly, the tree froze to death.
Hayami grinned, jumping up and down in excitement. "The tree died! The tree fucking died! It worked, it worked, it worked! It fucking worked! This is so awesome!"
"Should we tell her to mind her language?" Tanjiro said. "A ten-year-old should not be using any swear words."
Zenitsu brushed it off. "It's fine," he said. "She's excited that it worked. That's the only thing we should be concerned about."
Tanjiro smiled. "You're right. That is all we should worry about."
Hayami crouched down with her hands on her knees. "Should we take a break for lunch?"
"I thought you'd never ask!" Tanjiro said. He eyed Nezuko, who nodded.
He smiled. "Hayami, you like onigiri, right?"
Hayami smiled, playfully nudging Tanjiro. "How could you forget?" she said. "Especially when you make them."
Tanjiro chuckled. "I'm a bit rusty, so I'll let Nezuko take care of it this time," he said.
"Don't say that! We all could pitch in and help!" Hayami said.
"I-I don't know how to cook," Zenitsu said. "I always thought if I married a pretty girl, she'd do it for me. And now I'm married to both a pretty girl and a handsome boy. I don't regret my decision. I've got the best of both worlds and damn, am I loving every fucking second of it."
"You could learn," Tanjiro said.
Zenitsu was fear stricken. "And burn my hand on everything I touch!? Burn myself on anything regardless of what the hell I do!?" He rocked himself back and forth while crying. "N-no thanks."
"If it makes you feel any better, you burned my heart," Tanjiro said.
"I burned your heart!? See? I knew I wasn't qualified!" Zenitsu cried. "You do that. I mean, Nezuko-chan's doing it, right? Let her do that. That's what I originally signed up for anyway."
"You didn't sign up for fucking anything!" Tanjiro cried. He sighed. "Sorry. I didn't mean to…"
"You're good," Zenitsu said. "It's all… good." He leaned on Tanjiro's shoulder. "Tanjiro, hold me!"
Tanjiro looked at Zenitsu. "Hold you? Like what?" he said. Tanjiro blushed. "Oh. I get it. Come here."
He sat down and allowed Zenitsu to rest his head in his arms, making Tanjiro's face turn into a tomato. Tanjiro then proceeded to wrap his arms around Zenitsu.
"You don't know how much I love the both of you," Zenitsu said.
Tanjiro rubbed Zenitsu's back affectionately. "I know," he whispered. "I love you too. And so does my sister."
Nezuko emerged with a plate of onigiri - small rice balls with a patch of seaweed attached to the middle. After she sat down, the polygamous family dug in.
