Chapter ONE - Dancing Weasel or the Weasel Faced Man….

Jamie King ran up against the corner and slammed into it hard. He took a deep breath and squeezed his gun tighter. He looked over towards his left and saw Dyer and two other agents securing the left side of the building. They nodded to Jamie and he nodded back. He was their backup in this case but he wanted to make a good impression. This was really his first solo mission without his partner…and little sister. He had done a few milk runs and interviews, but helping Dyer and Jacobs with this case was Jamie's first chance at proving that he wasn't just Jennifer Stetson's brother. Or the son of the great Scarecrow and Mrs. King.

Jamie learned during his training for the Bureau that there is terrorism everywhere. He never really thought about things like that when he was just a photographer. Gone were the days when his mother and step dad fought the bad guys….they knew who the enemy was. It was more than likely the KGB. Other times it was someone who just was just too greedy and tried to sell secrets. Jamie slowly learned that there are secrets everywhere and people will do anything to get them. Having the famous Scarecrow and Mrs. King as his parents gave him an edge that most agents could never imagine. He was especially interested in the case that had him smushed up against a wall in the outskirts of Alexandria. Dyer and his partner Jacobs had stumbled upon an extremist group being extremely vocal on social media. Dyer just knew that it was going to be a big score and he was feeling very overconfident. Jamie didn't want to bust Dyers bubble, but he felt that nothing was going to come out of the bust. He had seen groups post stuff out on social media and then drop off into obscurity. That didn't stop Jamie from wanting to be a part of it. He was so glad that his sister and partner, Jennifer, was off on her honeymoon.

Dyer and Jacobs went around the other side of the building. Jamie knew what was coming. It was time to put his training into action. He heard something behind him and he turned around. He didn't see anything and went to turn back around. He suddenly felt something stick him in the leg and he immediately went to rub it. He fell to the ground and tried shaking his head which made the dizziness worse. He saw a figure in the background and he heard shots all around the alley. Jamie couldn't move and his head fell back to rest on the ground. Everything went black and Jamie slipped into unconsciousness.

**********Around the same time Jamie was involved in a Bureau bust, Phillip King was at his shop working late. The racing season was over for the most part and Phillip was just hanging out at the shop. He loved racing and he wanted to get a jump on the next season. He finished in the top ten and he was determined to get in the top five. He looked at his watch and sighed. He didn't realize how late it was. He promised his daughter, Abby, that they would have a movie night. She was starting middle school soon and he knew that she was nervous about it. He smiled to himself as he thought about his little girl heading to middle school. He stood up and cleaned off his desk. He shut the light off in his office and walked towards the door. He heard something in the bay of the shop and looked around. He didn't see anything and shook his head. He suddenly felt something hit his leg and he fell to the floor. He immediately became dizzy and he tried to stand up as a shadowy figure walked towards him. Everything went black and Phillip slipped into unconsciousness.

************Jennifer Stetson Smyth walked out to the patio of her hotel room. It was overlooking the beach and the morning sun was starting to peek through. She sat down in one of the lounge chairs and sighed. Her thoughts traveled to her wedding and honeymoon. She was married. She loved Matthew Smyth with everything she had. She sipped her coffee and glanced at her wedding set on her left hand. She smiled to herself as she looked back at the bed and watched her husband of six days sleeping peacefully. Her free hand slowly migrated towards her stomach and she patted it gently. She was going to be a mother. Suddenly she felt something pinch her shoulder and she instinctively reached up to rub it. She immediately felt dizzy and she dropped her coffee mug. She saw a shadow walking towards her and then everything went black and Jennifer slipped into unconsciousness.

************The following morning Lee Stetson watched the horses grazing in the field across from his house. He smiled as he sipped his coffee. He was thinking that he should pack a picnic basket and take Amanda out for a ride. They hadn't had a chance to be alone since Jennifer's wedding. He felt her presence before her hands wrapped around his waist from behind.

"Good Morning Mrs. Stetson. Did you sleep well?"

Amanda kissed his shoulder. "I did…once I got to sleep. What are you doing up so early? You haven't gotten up this early in a long time, Scarecrow."

He turned around to face her and wrapped his free arm around her. He gave her a soft lingering kiss. He beamed at her with his dimples showing proudly. He sighed thinking that he was the luckiest man in the world having Amanda King as his wife all of these years. Her brown eyes glistened with love as the sun peeked through the clouds to start the day. He loved her with everything he had. He leaned in and kissed her again softly. When they broke apart Lee whispered in her ear "What do you say we pack a basket and go riding all day. Just you and me? I think we can find some trouble to get into."

Amanda laughed and kissed him again. "The last time you said that we ended up pregnant with Jennifer! I have been getting in trouble with you Lee Stetson for over forty years."

Lee beamed at her with his eyebrows wiggling. "Well, it was fun wasn't it?"

Amanda wriggled out of his embrace and put her hands on her hip. She gave him the look he fell in love with first. "Lee Stetson! When was bullets flying over our heads and being chased by bad guys ever fun?"

Lee put his coffee mug down and pulled her into his arms. He leaned down and kissed her passionately. God how I love this woman! He thought to himself. "Well, Mrs. Stetson, I never said that part was fun. The bullets and the bad guys. I am just remembering…in my old age. We had some good times."

"Sweetheart, I think it's time to really get out of the business. It's time to move forward and let the kids take over. We did our part. I don't want anything to happen to you. Look, I know that Jamie has been asking you for advice and keeping you in the loop with this Beamon thing. I have been your partner long enough. I know that you still love the chase….you have missed it while we were raising Jennifer. But sweetheart….I don't want to lose you. Something about this whole thing last year still has me on edge. Remember what Beamon said when Jamie went to talk to him. It wasn't over. Who else did he have on his payroll? Are we going to have to look into all of the people we put away to see if they have some sort of vendetta against us?"

Before Lee could answer her, Lee's cell phone started ringing. At the same time Amanda's cell started ringing in the house. Amanda went to answer hers and Lee picked his phone up from the table.

"Stetson."

"Scarecrow, it's Sam. We have a problem. A big problem. Jamie was a part of a mission last night and he was kidnapped. Dyer and Jacobs found Jamie's gun and there was a card left by it. It just had a picture of a weasel on it. Do you know what that means?"

Lee clenched his jaw and started to breathe heavily. " Sam, that could mean a couple of things. Where the hell is my son? Amanda and I will be there within the hour." He hung up the phone and went into the house. Amanda was standing there holding her phone to her chest. Lee walked over to her and put his arms around her waist.

" Manda, what's wrong?"

Amanda looked at her husband with tears forming in her eyes. "That was Stacy. Phillip never came home last night. The shop was ransacked and Phillips' car keys were lying on the floor and a card was next to them."

Lee hugged her tightly. "Let me guess…there was a weasel on it."

Amanda looked up at him. "Yes. What does that mean? Lee…what's going on?"

Lee's cell phone started going off again and Lee answered. "Stetson….whoa…Matthew. What's wrong? Where's Princess?" Amanda's eyes grew bigger as she listened to Lee's voice get louder and louder. Tears were falling from her eyes as she stared at her husband.

Matthew Smyth was on the other end and he was trying to calm down so he could talk to his father in law.

"Dad…someone took Jennifer. I woke up to find her coffee mug laying on the ground outside our patio and there was a card…." he stopped and took a deep breath.

"It had a weasel on it, didn't it?"

"Dad…what is going on? Where is Jennifer?"

" I don't know, son. But all the kids are missing…Jennifer, Jamie and Phillip. You better pack up and head home. Come here to our house. Amanda and I are heading to the Bureau. This isn't over, Matty. I am so sorry. We'll see you soon."

Lee threw his cell phone on the couch and rushed over to Amanda. He took her in his arms and held her as she cried.

"All of the kids? Oh My GOSH….Lee! What are we going to do? Who would DO this to us?"

Lee held her tighter and tried to calm her fears. Comforting his wife was more important than letting his own fear for their children take him over.

" I don't know Amanda. But I promise you. I will find out and kill the son of a bitch."
