caught - a jara oneshot

"We really should be getting back J," Mara breathed out as Jerome pressed soft kisses along her neck. "I don't want us to get caught."

She hadn't meant for this to happen. They'd only gone back to the house to get Jerome's french homework, not for them to start snogging on his bed.

"We're not going to get caught," Jerome assured her. "Victor's has a meeting with Mr Sweet, Trudy's gone grocery shopping and everyone else is back at the school."

"Any of them could come back at any moment."

"Come on Jaffray, live a little," he teased.

Mara studied him for a moment. His cheeks flushed, his lips moulded into a smirk and his eyes gazing at her in a way that makes her belly squirm in the best way. His eyes so full of mischief, love and a touch of desire. He made her feel wanted and it was utterly intoxicating.

"What?" He asked, his smirk turning into a confused smile.

She decides to throw caution (and the rules) to the wind and brings their lips together. Jerome lets out an appreciative hmph and rests his hands on her hips. She begins to overthink what she's doing, like where she should put her hands and if she should move her head a certain way. It all leaves her brain the second his tongue slips past her lips and instinct instantly takes over.

Her hands push into his hair and he groans, causing the fire at the bottom of her belly to ignite. She moves her weight forward, intending for him to lay on his back. She doesn't take into account how tall he is because he accidentally bangs his head on the headboard.

"Ow!"

"I'm so sorry J, I didn't mean to."

Jerome began to laugh and Mara couldn't help the giggle that escaped past her lips.

"It's alright Jaffray."

She shifted her weight off him so he could awkwardly shimmy himself down the bed so his head was on the pillow and once he seemed comfortable, Mara adjusted herself so she was straddling him, her skirt riding up as she did it.

For a second Mara couldn't believe she was doing this. She'd never been one for rule breaking and they were definitely breaking the rules. They were supposed to be spending their free period studying in the library with their friends, not snogging in Jerome's room at Anubis. As wrong as it was though, she couldn't help but feel exhilarated. The thrill was addicting and all thoughts of stopping left her mind completely.

Instead of resuming their kiss, Jerome ducked to kiss her neck, causing Mara's breath to hitch slightly. As he lightly sucked at a spot underneath her jaw, his right hand began to move up her school skirt and stopped to rest at the top of her thigh. It was a bold move and he must have known it because he pulled away from her jaw to look at her.

"Is that okay?" He asked.

"More than okay," she replied, crashing their lips together.

With her permission now granted, he began to slowly rub circles with his thumb against her thigh. It was such a simple touch and yet his fingers felt like fire on her skin. She'd been told not to play with fire but the burn was electrifying and all Mara could feel was pure desire. She wanted him to touch her everywhere, she wanted him to ignite every fibre in her body. She wanted him.

In an act of impulsiveness Mara moved her hands to his shoulders to push off his school cardigan. He caught on to what she was doing and moved his hands back to finish taking it off. Once it's off and on the floor, Mara slid her fingers from his shoulders to his front to begin undoing his tie. She undid it and chucked it across the room.

She pulled back from the kiss and took off her own tie. "Just to even it out," she told him.

"I do love equality," he quipped back.

He kissed her again and his hands remained on her thighs. She knew he probably wouldn't go any further without a push from her so in a wave of boldness, she covered his hands with hers and pushed them around her to rest on her bum.

And of course by her luck not even a second later, the door swung open to reveal Alfie.

Mara squeaked in surprise, ripping away from Jerome as Alfie yelped in shock, slamming the door back closed. This was absolutely mortifying.

"Oh my god! What are you guys doing?!"

"Alfie!" Jerome exclaimed. "What does it look like we were doing!"

Mara grabbed her tie from the floor and hurriedly started putting it on before searching for wherever she threw her cardigan. She noticed Jerome doing the same.

"I know what you were doing, I mean why are you doing it here now?" Alfie exclaimed from the other side of the door.

"We were just-"

"It's none of your business Alfie."

"I think it is considering you both are doing it in my room and I just wanted to come and get my french textbook not be absolutely scarred for life."

Mara checked herself in the mirror, brushing her hair and clothes down with her hand. Once she seemed presentable, Jerome walked over to open the door. Alfie was still on the other side with his hands over his eyes.

"You don't need to cover your eyes Alfie, we're not naked." Jerome told him as Mara hid herself behind him, still mortified.

Alfie slowly uncovered his eyes, obviously apprehensive. "You know, if you guys are gonna do that you seriously need to put up a sign or something."

"Or you could knock?"

"I shouldn't have to knock to come into my room in the middle of the day when everyone should be at school."

"You're right, Alfie," Mara admitted, desperate for this conversation to be over. "We're sorry and we should have been more careful. Now I'm going to leave before I die of embarrassment."

Mara quickly picked up her bag and made a hasty exit out of the room.

"Wait here," Jerome told Alfie, before quickly following Mara into the entryway. "Jaffray, wait up."

"I'm going back to school, Jerome."

"I know but you're okay, right?"

"Alfie just walked in on us in the most mortifying position, I'm hardly okay."

"It's not that bad. It's not like we were, you know, having sex or anything." An obvious tint of red was visible on his cheeks.

"Still, I can't believe it happened. If Alfie tells anyone, I'm never gonna hear the end of it."

"Don't worry, I'll talk to him and make sure he keeps it to himself."

"Thank you." Mara didn't know how effective that would be but it was better than nothing. "I really should go now."

"Okay, I'll meet you at school after I've dealt with Alfie." Jerome leaned down to peck her lips. He pulled back slightly and smirked, "It's a shame we got interrupted, I was quite enjoying myself."

Mara pushed her idiot boyfriend away, "Goodbye Jerome." She turned to walk out the door, her cheeks embarrassingly warm.

"I love you too!" Jerome called out after her, making her roll her eyes endearingly.

Mara made a hasty walk to school, still feeling entirely embarrassed at what had happened.

As soon as she arrived and sat down next to Joy and Patricia in the study room, her friends interrogated her.

"Where have you been? And why do you look so guilty?" Joy asked her.

"I had to talk to go back to the house and grab some work I left behind this morning." Mara lied. "And I don't look guilty."

Joy gave her a look that meant she definitely didn't believe her but luckily didn't push. Mara was extremely grateful. If Joy and Patricia found out about what happened, she would never hear the end of it from them.

Of course Mara should've known that she couldn't be that lucky. She knew something was up when Patricia and Joy walked into their shared room that afternoon, both with teasing smiles on their faces.

"So Mara, what's this I hear about you and Jerome during free period?" Joy asked.

"What?" Mara asked, immediately feeling her cheeks heat up.

"When you said you came to the house for your schoolwork, I didn't realise you'd left it under your boyfriend's shirt."

In that moment, Mara wanted the ground to swallow her up and take her away from this nightmare of a conversation.

"We weren't- I wasn't-"

"Who would've thought Mara the good girl would skip class to snog her boyfriend?" Patricia joined in on the teasing.

"I didn't plan it to go that way. We only went back to the house to get his french textbook." Mara insisted.

"That's what they all say." Joy joked.

"How did you even find out about it?"

"Amber."

Of course.

"Ugh I'm going to kill Alfie."

Mara stood up from her bed and marched out of the room, ready to berate her boyfriend's friend for not keeping his mouth shut.

"Haven't you traumatised him enough?" Patricia called out to her, causing herself and Joy to burst into laughter.

Mara barged into Jerome and Alfie's room, not even bothering to be polite. The two boys looked up from the game they were playing.

"Alfie Lewis, you are unbelievable!" Each syllable of her words was punctuated with a swift hit of a pillow on Alfie's arm.

"Woah, Jaffray!" Jerome exclaimed, pulling her away from the poor boy. "What's with the sudden violent outburst?"

"He told everyone about what happened this afternoon!"

Jerome turned towards his friend in disappointment, "Alfie…"

"I didn't tell everyone." He insisted, "...Only Amber," he added, sheepishly.

"That's basically the same thing."

"Alfie, you promised not to tell anyone," Jerome sighed at his friend's inability to keep a secret.

"And I tried! But Amber kept asking me why I was acting weird and I couldn't hold it anymore."

"You could have told anyone and you told Amber? You might as well announce it on the school speakers."

"I'm sorry! But you know I'm terrible at keeping secrets so really you brought this on yourselves."

Mara sat on Jerome's bed in defeat.

"I'm never going to be able to face anyone, ever again."

"Now that's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think?"

"Joy and Patricia have already started the teasing."

"As if Patricia is one to talk, I know for a fact that she and Eddie have had their fair share of escapades." Jerome scoffed.

"Either way, I'll just have to face the consequences." Mara sighed. "Serves me right for letting you talk me into breaking the rules."

"I can't help that you find me irresistible Jaffray."

"You wish, Jerome." She retorted, eyes flicking to his lips.

"Uh guys, you know I'm still in the room right?" Alfie asked, breaking the couple out of their short reverie.

"More than aware." Jerome replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes.

"I should get going anyway, I was in the middle of my English essay before I came down and I'm determined to finish it tonight." Mara stood up. "Sorry for hitting you Alfie."

"It's alright I guess. I'll just try to ignore the bruising." Alfie joked.

Jerome walked Mara out of the room. "I'll see you at dinner, yeah?"

"Yeah." Mara smiled as Jerome squeezed her hand softly.

The two began to lean in, lips about to touch-

"You guys aren't going to start snogging again are you?"

"Alfie!"
