A few days had passed as Marco was getting accustomed to his new home and teacher, he sat on his bed in the room Michael had given him to stay in while under his teaching. He stared at the sword his father had as the event repeated over and over again causing him to have a constant anger appearance when he was deep in thought, he hadn't really left the room due to Michael telling him to stay put and not leave unless he said so. It threw the boy off for a moment but he accepted it seeing as he didn't really have a choice in the matter.
Michael POV
Michael was outside his home walking around the town filled with people who wore clothing just like his while some held weapons, just like the butterfly kingdom they allowed some people to be the guards, they had made it clear that everyone had to have the training to fight for protection and security and the biggest difference between the two was many people out on the streets practicing and focusing on magic while only the royal family used magic in the butterfly kingdom. Michael continue to walk down the street until he was in the front guarded gate of a two story building in the middle of town.
"State your name and business here" a guard asked focusing his attention on Michael.
"Michael Ordonia I'm here to speak with the master" he stated pulling out a blade handing it to the guard, it held a glowing red mark that was carved into it. The guard satisfied with what he saw opened that gate allowing Michael to enter and handing back the blade for Michael to put away.
He walked into the home and up the stairs and reached the master's library, knocking on the door he waited and heard the master say to come in. Michael walked in and saw an older man with a white cloak and different colors marked over it all while sporting a long grey beard, he didn't hold a single weapon which to the dislike of Michael he still kept his composure.
"Oh Michael my student. How are you after the mission, I heard you brought back a young outsider" the older man said to him with a slight chuckle.
"Yes master that's why I'm her to speak with you today, when I was out and I brought him into the safety of our home the boy held a sword that I recognized" he said in a serious tone.
"Oh... And who was his parents, do you know" the master asked seeing where this conversation was going.
"Sir... it was Rafael from ten years ago and Angie his wife"
"The same Rafael who saved your life on your mission to scout the Blacked Sky"
"The very same I'm sad to say" he said with a sigh and paused seeing his master take in all of this information, though he may not had been one of them Rafael had earned the masters respect for him since of justice, hope, and what he saw when he fought alongside them and his wife while having a strange presence was great at healing and cooking, but he felt there was so much more she didn't say or she just didn't know of herself as if a darkness watched over her and was a part of her.
"How is his use of magic"
"I haven't sensed any magic from the boy like his father once had, only his anger over the event and a calling of darkness... But I feel the light shine from his heart and I know with time and training he can be set on a path of a good person at least by our orders meaning" Michael making a plea for Marco's training.
"That's enough Michael, I feel your intentions with the boy and your feelings for the friend you've lost but you must think with logic and not emotions... Now you have my permission to train him only due to the debt we owe his father and nothing more,if he shows more use in magic then I might change my mind" the master stroking his beard looking out the window.
"Thank you master I am grateful for your choice" Michael said bowing to the elderly man.
"We do not allow outsiders in lightly Michael, his father earned his way of choosing with strong magic and skill, so I expect he earns his way the same, he will not have the same rights as the others due to this. So train him hard and don't stop until you know he can complete the mission" with that said Michael rose his head nodding at his master.
"How did his father die" the elderly man asked
"We found his body outside the home, it appeared there was an enemy waiting for him to run outside to strike due to the scene of the incident, the mother... as you know how it didn't go well for her and they forced the boy to watch" Michael said somberly feeling the wait of what the boy had gone through understanding what's it like to loose a loved one.
"Very well... You are dismissed" and with that Michael bowed his head and walked out the room.
One week later
Marco fell on the ground and rolled over to his left as he felt a blunt pain on his stomach as blood coughed up from his mouth, looking up seeing Michael with his robes removed and armor along with it, all his weapons were done away with before they even arrived with Michael making Marco watch as he removed them. The arena they were in was made specifically from training in mind and built to fit nicely inside of Michael's house.
The goal was rather simple for Marco to accomplish, all he had to do was hit Michael one good time and he would stop the assault on him for the day. But it was needless to say that the skill Michael showed in the boy's old home was no fluke as he dodged everything Marco tried to do and fought back with his full force.
"You said you wanted to learn right, you said you wanted to survive right, to be useful, I gave you that choice and your disappointing me mar-... your disappointing me boy" Michael said in a harsh tone as he saw the anger in Marco's eyes when he rose up and spat out the blood that accumulated from his mouth.
"THEN TEACH ME" the boy screamed as it echoed throughout the room.
"Then drop the anger boy, I know what they said about you but you don't have to respond especially like that" Michael stated in a demanding tone causing Marco to fall to the ground sitting and thinking.
Flashback
It had been a few days since Marco had been allowed to walk around the village of assassins and news spread around quickly of who had brought the boy into the assassins domain, the adults who held onto traditional beliefs grew weary of the boy seeing him as an outsider and a lower class member in their eyes, and this effected the way the children thought of the boy before they even meet him.
So when he was allowed to finally leave the home of his master it was known to stay away from the boy, Marco didn't mind this however as he was still heartbroken over the lost of his parents and only went out to get fresh air until he heard someone say the wrong thing at the wrong time.
"Get out of here fucking outsider and go die like the rat you and your family are"
That one moment was all it took to make Marco snap and look at who referred to him and his family in that way, he took in the area and saw everyone stare at a boy around the same age as Marco with blonde hair and a brown eyes having pale skin. His robe unlike most had an emblem on his left side directly over his heart, the emblem was a fox head.
"What did you say" Marco said back as the scene began to grow more and more hostile to anyone watching.
"You heard me you dirt eating bastard your not even supposed to be here, your only allowed because that crazy fool showed mercy and you can't even use magic" the blonde boy said seeing a girl with black hair watching the two from around the corner.
"Who the hell do you think you are bitch" Marco yelled getting more attention on the two.
"The only bitch here is that fool's daughter hiding like the cowards you all are" he shot back pointing at the girl not realizing that marco cocked his arm back and punched him in the face
Flashback End
"Now listen Marco I'm not mad your fighting in fact that's just gonna make me train you harsher so I know you came back to me alive but fighting that family isn't the smartest thing for you especially while I'm still trying to set things up" Michael said pitching the bridge of his nose shaking his head.
"He insulted your daughter I just can't let that slide"
"Marco this is janna we're talking about she's been training since she could walk and can handle herself just fine" he said looking over seeing his daughter caring a bag of feathers and glue as she left. "Hell the only thing off about her lately is that she treats you different from everyone else, and what did you do to her anyway she's been clinging to you a lot" he said looking over back at the door.
"I don't know, I didn't do anything to her she just pranks me all the time" he complained crossing his arms looking at the door as well.
"Regardless of that, you have no magic and went up against a family that not only is well trained, but also have incredible magic and money from bounty hunting and monster slaying." He said clasping his hands together then separating them having a red flame form, "while you haven't been trained, have no money, and last but certainly not least you.have.no.magic." Clenching his fist the flame that was once there was extinguished as the smoke came from his hand indicating that flames in his hand.
Looking down he saw Marco stare at him intensely with his body showing anger grow by the growing knowledge that in this village he was the weakest and came to a conclusion. "So is that why everyone was treating me differently, like I wasn't there or that I'm a plague...IS IT?!" He screamed his rage growing more and more as Michael watched him closely.
"Yes Marco that's exactly why because in our village we believe in community and safety with each other so someone being weak, without parents, and no money to help. To them your a liability that should be snuffed out... we are kind to each other because we fight for each other as allies though there is bad blood between some families like you saw today. Because of this mentality we do tend to fight each other and when we bring in outsiders other families tend to believe it's a tainting of blood." The long explanation ended helping Marco understand just why he was treated differently from the others, why he was looked upon as weak and pathetic compared to the other kids and to provoke him which worked giving Michael what he wanted to truly see.
"FUCK THEIR MAGIC!" He declared out load for the world to hear what he was about to say, " MAGIC, MONEY, AND STANDING MEANS NOTHING IF YOU HAVE NO STRENGTH TO BACK IT UP, MY FATHER TOLD ME THAT AND MY MOTHER STOOD WITH HIM AS THIS CRUEL WORLD HAS PROVED THAT TO THEM TIME AND TIME AGAIN... AND IT HAD SHOWED ITSELF TO ME AS WELL"
"Do you wish to have that strength? To understand the world and dominate it. Tell me Marco what is your goal" Michael asked the boy who was currently being surrounded by strange magic being fueled by his anger.
"TO SURVIVE"
"In order to do so in this place you will have to be placed a trial and prove you are worthy of forming your own house name under my own until you have enough strength to do your own actions with no help."
"I WANT TO SURVIVE THE WORLD"
"The trials will still help you with that, the money, and standing part any way. But in time you will learn to survive" Michael watched as the boy started coughing fearsomely grasping his throat. He didn't move as Marco collapsed on the ground still breathing as it appeared he went unconscious from the unnatural magic that come off of him, Michael smiled wickedly at the unconscious boy.
"Just as I suspected from you Marco, your more than your father... no your more than most of us. It took time for him to bring out so much of that beautiful fighting technique of rage you have and here your are and with your mother's warrior spirit no less. Oh yes you will do nicely, I won't tell the others of your true skill and power or they'll kill you. I know you can hear me Marco, listen to me when I say this... DON'T tell anyone about this" he said walking away from the collapsed boy who truly lost consciousness once the man went away from him and walking out the arena where he saw janna walk back into the hallway dragging a moving bag into her room.
'Yes Marco don't let them see that blood hungry rage'
