Author's note: Hey guys, forgot to mention I don't really own anything about Percy Jackson. I only invented some characters.

Revelations and the son of Zeus

Emily dragged Mark all the way to the parking lot of the school. She looked up into the sky and whistled. A gryphon came soaring down.

'Yeah, this guy's kind of a loner,' she said, answering Mark's quizzical look. 'There's always an oddball, sorry Eugeni, in every group of monsters. Well, at least almost always. I don't think I've ever heard of an oddball Laistrygonian. Or…'

'Um, I totally love your cleverness that makes everyone wonder why you're not a daughter of Athena,' cut in Melina, 'but can we get a move on?'

As if to agree, Eugeni the gryphon pawed the ground.

'Good idea. Hop on, Mark,' said Emily. Mark obliged. 'Now fly, Eugeni!'

The gryphon launched into the sky. The other gryphons followed him up.

Melina kept 'shadow travelling', as Emily called it, on and off her grey pegasus, Thyella, to make some more dusty griffin kebabs. Emily herself slashed at the gryphons that came too close. They went on like that for a while.

At some point, the stopped at a little café to eat a doughnut each and use the washroom. The girls came out dressed in the same bright orange T-shirts. Printed on them, in black, were the words 'Camp Half-Blood' and a black pegasus.

Emily had a white, long-sleeved shirt on under her orange one. She re-tied her long, jet-black hair and said, 'Let's go, everyone, the gryphons are getting annoying and Thyella says that she's getting pooped.'

'You can speak to pegasi?'

'Anything equine, basically. Come on.'

In the air again, and strangely free of gryphons, Emily explained everything to Mark.

'So. You know, in basic, about the Olympian Gods, right?'

'Yeah.'

'Ok, well, they really exist, and they have children too. When a person has one mortal parent and one godly parent, they are called demigods. Like me, and Melina, and you.'

'Is that what you meant by special?'

'Yes. Now I'm the daughter of Poseidon. Water god, lord of horses, blah, blah, blah. Melina is a child of Hades. God of the Underworld and riches. That's why she can shadow travel.'

'And me?'

'Well, don't know about you yet.'

'Then how did you know that I'm a demigod?'

'Um, hello, have you seen your ADHD? You cannot sit still for one minute. And you're dyslexic, too.'

'So?'

'Those are usually marks of a demigod. Read the name on my pen.'

'An-Ana-Anaklusmos? What's Anaklusmos?'

'Think. It's Greek. Just think.'

'It's… It's… Riptide?'

'Well done!'

'I've never learnt Greek.'

'You're a demigod. Greek and Latin will come naturally. Thyella is?'

'Storm?'

'Yes. Eugeni?'

'Noble?'

'Nice!'

While she was congratulating him, Emily didn't notice the thing flying towards her. But Mark did.

'Emily, behind you!'

The gryphon grabbed her by her foot. Melina tried flying Thyella over but the beast was already lost in the clouds. Emily couldn't even use Riptide, which had fallen out of her hand.

Mark was distraught.

'No, gryphon! Let her go! Let. Her. Go!'

On the last 'Go' his eyes flashed. Thunder rumbled. A strong wind blew the gryphon down from the clouds and it lost its hold on Emily. Then lightning vapourized it.

'Eugeni, catch her!'

Eugeni flew down and caught Emily neatly on his back. She was breathing hard. She didn't seem any the worse for her near-death experience.

'Wow, thanks, Mark!'

'Sorry about Riptide. It fell. I couldn't catch it.'

'Don't be. Look!' she pulled Riptide out of her pocket.

'Okay, so how many swords do you have?'

'Just one. It reappears in my pocket when I lose it. It's made of Celestial Bronze, and it can kill monsters easily. Very powerful. Doesn't kill mortals that easy, though. Melina's sword is Imperial Gold. Same effect, more or less. Now can we talk about your light show?'

'My… my light show?'

'Whose then? Mine? Come on Mark! We know your godly parent now!'

'Who?'

She looked at him. 'The king of Olympus. God of the sky and lightning and all,' she seemed to be preparing for a grand finale. 'Zeus himself!'
