A/n one-shot filler to "Bad Timing." I imagined this scene because I recently heard a song that inspired me. It's titled No Light, No Light from Florence + The Machine. You can find it on YouTube if you'd like to hear it.
"I want more time!"
Love can't slow done time or stop it, Amanda knew. Every moment should count, be precious, and yet – when it suited, Amanda could wish away time or long for the seconds and minutes to stretch into infinity.
Now, at this moment, when she clung to the man she loved so fiercely it hurt down to her bones, she wished for the ability to stop time, to force it into submission.
When Lee finally broke their desperate embrace, she stopped him from kissing her because if he did, she would shatter into a thousand pieces. Instead, she put a shaking finger to his lips and stared into his bright hazel eyes that she adored.
Lee could speak to her with his eyes, and he talked to her now. I love you. We'll get through this together, Amanda. We'll figure out how to get into the embassy. I'll get the antidote.
Yes, he could speak to her without words, but she also saw something else deep down in the depths of his beautiful eyes. I'm afraid, Amanda. What if we fail?
Then he blinked, and the resolution returned to his face. Seconds ticked away, precious time that they had to use wisely.
Lee smiled, and his dimples brought tears to her eyes. She blinked rapidly. Later, when they had the cure, and it was over, she might cry, but now she had to be strong. Amanda forced a smile for Lee.
"I love you," she whispered.
"I love you, too."
Time is an arrow, always flying forward toward the end of the universe. Amanda knew they had no choice but to go ahead, but – she couldn't think of failure. She had to believe they would find the answer because she wouldn't accept losing Lee, not when they'd finally found each other.
I want more time!
