Things were, however, also very quiet on the train. Though it was going to head through Tenebrae, they did have to stop at the Royal Tomb to get Noctis another Royal Arm. Nimue sat there, in a seat a bit away from them, looking out the window. Was everything going to be okay from here on? She'd begged- no, pleaded for them to leave the Regalia behind and have Cindy take it to Hammerhead before they boarded, citing that it'd probably be dangerous and it could be destroyed. She knew, from her days of playing FFXV, that it would be destroyed... but she didn't want to have them losing their only mode of transportation.
Cindy could take care of it for a while, couldn't she?
While deciding to wander about the train, Nimue had just kind of lost herself in her own world for a bit. The dining car was where she stopped next, standing there near the bar and looking at the world outside the window. It was speeding by, too fast for her eyes to notice. Maybe things would be okay, and nothing would go wrong- At least, that was what she thought before she heard Noctis' enraged calling of her name. Turning to look, her eyes widened as she dodged out of the way.
"Holy shit, Noct, you nearly hit me with that!" Nimue said.
"You let Luna die!" Came Noctis' response. Another swing, and Nimue felt it hit. Wincing as the sword sliced through, thankfully not hitting anything vital, she put a hand to her now-bleeding wound. The blood was too much, slipping through her fingers and onto the floor beneath her feet. "You could save Ignis, but not Luna?! In what world is that fair?!"
"Noct, Noct. Please, calm down and let me explai-" Her words were cut off when she dodged out of the way of another sword swing. The people in the dining car were trying to pretend this wasn't happening, so Nimue ducked under the next swing and started running for the door. In-between the corridors, she got caught and slammed up against the wall with Noct's right arm pressing against her throat.
"YOU COULDN'T EVEN PRETEND TO CARE ABOUT ME!" Noct practically roared. "All you did was wait for your chance to stab me in the back! I hate you- I HATE YOU!"
"Noct, you don't mean that... do you? Do... do you?" Nimue asked, swallowing thickly. Tears were starting to form under her eyes. Instead of Ardyn pulling a trick and causing Noctis to throw Prompto off the train, it seemed that she was the target of Noctis' ire. "Ignis... told you, didn't he?"
"Oh, he told me. He told me how you saved him from going blind!" Noctis yelled. "And yet, you just bided your time for Lunafreya to be killed, didn't you? Letting Ardyn kill her! You might as well be fucking rubbing shoulders with him for all the good you've done!"
"I- Noct, I..." She took the chance to use her foot to shove him away before running off again, trying to find a better escape route to get away from him. Yeah, she'd asked Ardyn to keep doing what he was doing- to kill Lunafreya, but all because she thought she knew what was going to happen next. Everything was going far off-course now, away from what she'd known. Her feet carried her forward, through each car as she gripped her wound a bit tighter. All she had now was to believe that Bahamut would revive Lunafreya to carry the Scourge and attempt to Teraflare the world.
She just had to hope his plan of that didn't change.
Avoiding Noctis' attacks were easy when she was shorter and further ahead of him. Climbing ontop of the train, she hoped to get him to listen. At least, get him to understand why she didn't decide to save Lunafreya. She knew how much the Oracle meant to him, but she knew Bahamut would see her plans if she saved her. Trying to steady herself, she avoided another incoming attack from Noctis and stood there, still bleeding onto the train.
"Noct, let me explain what's going on- Ignis didn't tell you everything-"
"I don't want to hear it!" Noctis shouted. "I trusted you!"
"If I were to let Lunafreya live, then trying to save your life would've been all but useless!" Nimue shouted back. Noctis stopped, staring at her. His eyes widened some as he watched her stumble a bit. "And yeah, I... have been communicating with Ardyn because he's a key factor in all of this."
"You..." The anger returned. Nimue couldn't hold up a hand or anything. But she had to keep talking.
"I saved Ignis because putting on the Ring of the Lucii would have robbed him of his sight. I saved Ravus because any plan Ignis comes up with can involve him if he wishes. But I let Ardyn proceed with his plan of killing Lunafreya because it didn't matter-"
Another swing of Noctis' sword interrupted her, and Nimue avoided it. "I'm done listening to you."
Noctis' voice was cold, to the point and unlike his usual tone. "All you've done is ruin my life. I really thought I could trust you, but now I know that Lunafreya didn't matter to you. None of us did. You did this because you've been in cahoots with the Imperials this entire time."
"Noct-"
"I never want to see you again." That was the last words she heard Noctis say as his sword hit her across the chest, sending her toppling off of the train and onto the ground. Rolling to a stop, injured and bleeding, Nimue laid there on the ground with tears streaming down her cheeks. Ignis had told Noctis of what she did to save his sight, and... now she wasn't even capable of keeping her plan together. It was going to fall apart from here. Everything was going to fall apart from here, and all she could do was lay here and bleed.
I'm tired... She thought, staring at the expansive sky. I'm extremely tired...
Then sleep. A voice told her, and she felt herself being cradled in something warm. Tears started flowing more. She missed her dad, her sister... her home. She didn't want to deal with this anymore, she just wanted to go home. Nimue was tired. She was so, so tired... Sleep, and I'll wake you when things are better.
His eyes opened to a familiar world he'd seen through Nimue's eyes. It seemed Noctis hadn't removed the power he'd given Nimue so many months ago, as he was able to access the Armiger and pull out an Elixir. Popping the cap, he slowly drank it until the wounds on their shared body healed up. The bottle disappeared a few moments after it was emptied, and he pulled out the spare set of clothes that he'd bought in Altissia.
Just in case the clothes got ruined. Changing was no big deal, but afterwards he had a long walk back to the train station. It was probably a few days' walk away. That didn't really mean much now. Walking down the pathways, it wasn't long until a young woman pulled over and waved at him.
"Hey, kid, need a ride to the station?" She asked.
"Yes, I'd like that. I don't have any gil on me as of current, though." He responded. "Hopefully that's fine with you."
"I'm the one who asked, so of course it is." The woman had wild red hair tied back in a bun, dirty brown overalls and a short red shirt cropped under her bust. Her blue eyes were staring directly at him, and she seemed really friendly. "Hop on in."
Getting into the truck, he sat there and felt a little awkward. It'd been the first time a stranger had picked them up, which made things a little strange for him to figure around. The silence was pretty tense for a bit until the woman smacked him on the back, jolting their body forward some. "C'mon, loosen up! It's not like there's a funeral or anythin' happening."
"Apologies. I'm not too familiar with being offered rides by strangers." He responded, watching the scenery go by slower than it had on the train. The memory of being knocked off the train by Noctis flashed through his mind and he winced, putting a hand to his head. She was still upset about it... That was fine, it had only happened a bit ago after all.
"You alright, kiddo?" The woman asked. "Head painin' ya?"
"Just a bad memory." He responded. "By the way, I never got your name."
"Oh, me? I'm Rowan Harper, just travelin' to the station to head over to Cleigne. Got some family in Lestallum I need to see. What about you? Does the young lady have a name?"
He smiled a little, blue-green eyes staring into Rowan's blue eyes as he spoke.
"You may call me Ignis. Ignis Edenwood."
