Chapter 20
Lila arrived back home together with Nathalie. The young girl recognized her father's voice coming from the kitchen and spotted him talking with two police agents.
"Oh the police are here again," Commented Lila, then Nathalie got into the kitchen to embrace her father from the side.
"Papa!" Shouted Nathalie surprising Nathaniel, which smiled amused at the girl's deed, then placed his arm around her.
"Welcome back home, princess" Spoke Nathaniel, then looked at Lila who waved at the husband.
"Dad, two bad guys broke into the salon of Eireen's parents," Stated Nathalie making her father look at her surprised.
"As you two were there?" Questioned Nathaniel making the girl nod.
"A few minutes after mom arrived," Added Nathalie watching her mother get in to join the conversation.
"You, Mrs. Kurtzberg seem to be a crime magnet for people," Commented the blonde policewoman making Lila chuckle.
"Well, it seems like that. Hopefully, this was just a coincidence. It's pretty strange, that it happened twice," Commented the raven-haired woman.
"What was up there exactly?" Questioned Nathaniel a little worried about the story.
"Don't need to worry about it anymore. The superheroine Ryuko shot out of the power outlet to catch them both and waited there until the police came to take them," Explained Lila. "They had hurt one of the male hairstylists, that worked there,"
"Oh I do think I have an idea, who you're talking about," Stated Nathaniel making Nathalie look up at her father. "By the way, now that you're here….the police have captured the robbers from yesterday night. Turned out, that they were siblings by the statement of agent Lopes.
"Funny," Spoke Lila. "And that's all they had for us?"
"Not at all," Commented the policeman. "But your husband told us your memory at the moment isn't able to remember important details of the accident you had before losing your memory,"
"Oh right, it's been….different. I feel like there are sometimes things I feel like have felt or done before, but I'm not able to recall them,"
"Alright, well now that I'm here to inform you, that the court session is postponed until the driver of the vehicle, that caused the accident recovers. It seemed, that he had fallen into the coma after a difficult operation and due to his and your current medical state we can't have a session,"
"Okay…..oh, I don't know if I asked this before, but…...what happened to the driver, who was sitting in the taxi I was in?" Questioned Lila.
"He didn't make it," Said the policeman making Lila sad, then looked at her daughter, which was sad as well, and grabbed firmly her father's hand for soothing.
"You were lucky for been sitting in the back of the taxi during that scenario," Stated the policewoman, then observed Nathalie got into the arms of her mother after hearing the comment of the agents.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. Mama's still here," Comforted the mother while caressing her girl on the head.
"I've seen the candles by the lamp at the road," Mentioned Nathaniel. "It's so sad when someone loses their life by the guilt of someone else,"
"Are the candles located near the local I had the accident?" Asked Lila looking at her husband.
The group got out of their plot following Nathaniel along the sidewalk to spot the light pole, which had a couple of candles around the pole with two images of a bald man with the age around the 50s.
"You remember this man?" Questioned the policewoman watching Lila took a closer look at the image, then shook her head and got up.
"I can't really recall him," Commented Lila making the woman nod.
"That's alright," Spoke the woman, then Lila looked at the road to see chalk marks on the ground and she walked to the middle to look at them. Lila saw on one side black tire marks and looked at the road from the opposite direction, then began to remember the accident.
Lila sat in the backseat of the taxi and stared at the windshield to recognize her daughter being pulled up in the air by a redheaded man, which face was blocked by Nathalie's arm. Lila smiled happy to see her girl on it, afterward, she looked to the side to see a blue car with its front lights on crash against the car, causing Lila to yell, followed by the man cursing in a foreign language.
Lila shook her head and closed her eyes again placing her hands beside her head trying to remember the rest of the scene.
"Come on, you can do that," Mumbled Lila earning Nathalie's attention, which pulled her father on his arm for help and the redhead approached his wife to check on her.
"Lila are you alright?" Questioned Nathaniel taking Lila out of her mind.
"I'm sorry….I think I had just remembered the accident….I saw in the middle of the road there in front of the house Nathalie being held up by a redhead waving at me before I turned around to see a blue car crash onto us,"
"That must have been us," Stated Nathaniel grabbing his daughter by the shoulder. "We had witnessed the accident along with your friends," The husband told as the male police officer stepped aside to pick up his walkie-talkie to answer a call of another police agent, then looked at the blonde woman, which nodded and looked at the Kurtzberg's.
"If you have any questions, you've got our number. We have to leave," Announced the woman making Nathaniel nod, then observed the two police agents run along the road to head to their prowl car and leave the place.
"Okay, have you seen something else?" Questioned Nathaniel making Lila shake her head.
"I only remember seeing Nathalie and someone with red hair. Was that you?" Questioned Lila making Nathaniel nod. "So you went to help me out of the car when the accident happened?"
"Actually, I was terrified after seeing the accident and I had no idea, what to do," Confessed Nathaniel passing his hand behind his neck. "Luka and Adrien did,"
"Oh that sounds understandable," Confessed Lila, then looked at her daughter, who twirled with her foot on the ground.
"Dad stood back with me and cried later too," Commented Nathalie making Lila nod.
"I'm sure he would. I wish I could remember him as well as you do," Spoke Lila making Nathaniel nod a little saddened.
"He's happy you're okay," Spoke Nathaniel, then Lila placed her hands on Nathaniel's shoulders, making him widen his eyes at her closer approach, then she led him off the road and she took them down.
"Sorry, I just wanted to bring you out of here. I had heard a car engine," Commented Lila making Nathaniel look neutral at the ground.
"Oh…..uh thank you. I wasn't paying attention," Commented Nathaniel making Lila smile. "Do you remember per coincidence anything else about me? Besides, that I was your desk mate?"
"I remember being friends with you during that time. That's all I can remember for now," Explained Lila making Nathaniel nod.
"Okay. I'm sure you will remember more things with the time," Commented Nathaniel, then Lila chuckled.
A large SUV came from the right path of the crossroad, then turned on the right blinker and the couple looked at the black car to recognize the symbol of the diplomatic corps. Lila recognized the vehicle, then saw inside the car her mother sitting on the co-driver seat and took her hand up in the air to greet the woman.
"Mama," Greeted Lila, then the door opened up, so Lila could see her mother step out and the raven-haired woman hugged the mother.
"Mi principessa, I'm so sorry I didn't come earlier. I just heard about what happened to you now. How are you doing?" Questioned Mrs. Rossi placing her hands on the cheeks of her adult daughter.
"I'm fine. I just have after the accident trouble in remembering people I know," Commented Lila. "For now I remembered a few friends and Nathalie as well," Explained Lila watching the daughter approach the grandmother, which got down to peck the granddaughter on the cheeks. Mrs. Rossi looked up at her son-in-law, which observed the trio deepened in the hug, thereafter she got up to greet the redhead.
"Hello, Nathaniel. How has Lila been doing lately?" Questioned the Italian woman.
"She's remembering things well with the time passing by," Answered Nathaniel. "So far she hasn't remembered me that well. Also not, that Nathalie and I are related. It's kind of odd for me at the moment,"
"Well, that does really not sound like the Lila I knew from the start of your relationship,"
"I just gotta be patient with her and let her remember things on her own. I already told her about two times, that the reason her name is Lila Kurtzberg is due to her being married and she doesn't get that…..or remember that," Explained the redhead. "Are you going later somewhere else per coincidence or is it okay, if you stay with us for dinner?"
"I haven't planned anything afterward, but if I have the chance to be here with my two little girls, I would be glad," Mrs. Rossi responded making Nathaniel nod and led his daughter along the sidewalk to the house, followed by the Italian women.
The next day the first graders had Math lessons and were working alone on a task, while the class teacher was busy with a computer task in front of the class.
In the meanwhile, Debby and Zheng had gotten up to deliver their task to the teacher's desk, then got back to their seat to wait for the others.
Cody sighed as he was stuck at one part of his tasks, then looked at Elliot, which didn't seem to have any problems with it.
"Psst Elliot," Whispered Kodiak getting the attention of the blonde. "How did you find the last numbers, that give the end result?"
"Have you used the number zero before?" Questioned Elliot making Kodiak shake his head.
"We can use it?" Questioned the raven-haired curious.
"Zero also is a number. It doesn't work if you ignore the zero," The blonde said making Cody nod and write down the number, afterward he figured out he could use the zero along with the result.
"You were right, Elliot, it works," Spoke Ivan's son making Elliot smile.
Nathalie was the next student to get up along with Eireen, Johnny, and Ruby to turn the sheet back to Mrs. Donner, then got back to the seats while the remaining six students were nearly finishing it as well.
"Is your mom's friend from the salon okay?" Questioned Nathalie looking at Eireen, which nodded.
"My mother said he was feeling better already after tonight. Nothing more happened after the police took the bad guys," Eireen responded making Nathalie nod.
The last students delivered their task as Mrs. Donner looked up at the students and noticed that they had all solved the job. Afterward, she opened the drawer of her desk to take out a small pile of sheets with the next exercise.
"This felt a bit harder for me. The previous task with ordering the numbers way too easy for us all," Commented Rouven. "But I got out of it all on my own," Said Rouven proud making Evangeline smile.
"That's fantastic, Rouven. That's the right way," The adult said grabbing a pile of sheets and got to the front of Debby and Duarte's desk. "Alright, children I'm going to distribute to you the next essay which will be your homework for tomorrow. In this one you'll be dealing with money, the one you know from here," Said Evangeline passing by Cody and Elliot, which received the sheet, afterward Elliot wrote down his name already and observed the teacher after getting to deliver the last pieces of paper. Mrs. Donner returned to her desk and turned on the projector to show a white background. The teacher took out from under the table her wallet to take out a few coins and cash bills, then placed down two bills and four coins. "Here as you see, I've got three 1 Euro coins, one 2 Euro coin, one 10 Euro bill, and one 5 Euro bill. If I count all this together, what do I get?"
Mrs. Donner observed a few students raise up their hands in the air, then she picked up Eireen. "Eireen,"
"There are now 20 Euros, Responded Eireen making the adult smile, then removed the cash bills and added a few more coins.
"Well done, Eireen. Now I've got three 2 Euro coins and five 1 Euro coins. What does this make?" Questioned the woman looking across the room at Johnny.
"Eleven," Replied the blonde making the teacher smile.
"Good, let's make it a little harder now," The teacher said adding at the table all the coins she's got and looked up at the wall behind him to make sure all could see it well. Afterward, she added two bills on it and twelve coins, making a few students widen their eyes surprised at the amount the teacher had placed on the table. "I see a few of you might need a little help here?" Questioned the teacher taking a pencil and make a line above the Eurobill on the block under the money. "The task won't be that hard, but in the future, this trick here could help you. First, you start with the highest numbers, which are the 5 and 20 Euro bills. What's the solution to this one here?"
"It's 25!" Shouted Rouven making Evangeline smile.
"Good job, next time wait until I call you," Stated the teacher making Rouven chuckle.
"Sorry," Apologized the French boy watching the teacher write down the solution to the first part on the block. "Now we've got eight 1 Euro coins. This one is very easy, isn't it?"
The blonde sitting in front of Rouven held his hand up in the air to be picked up by the teacher, who gave out the right answer.
"There are eight Euros," Answered the boy earning an okay from the teacher, which added the eight beside it.
"And now, what is 25 together with 8?" Questioned the woman watching Zheng put his arm up.
"It's 33," Answered the China-descendant boy making the teacher smile and add the solution to the sheet. Four 2 Euro coins remained and Evangeline shove them down to remind the children, that this was the last part of their task.
"And? Who knows this solution?" Questioned Evangeline watching Nathalie put her hand up in the air along with Elliot. "Nathalie,"
"It's eight," Responded the girl with a dual nationality.
"Great and now our last numbers are 8 and 33. We're close to our goal. Elliot, as you're the one holding up the arm, do you know the solution?"
"41?" Responded Elliot going through his fingers making sure he was doing right the calculations, then received a little applause from the class teacher.
"Great. See? We all did it well together," The teacher complimented. "So it's going to ring in a minute, don't forget today that you've got art classes and that you need to bring from home one or two empty cans to create something together to be used at home. You sure will make something unique to be used at home. I had made last year for myself at home out of a large mashed tomato can a stand for my cooking spoons. I have based mine on a house. It's up to you, what you chose. It can be an animal, a house, a person, anything you want and if you don't have any idea ask your friends or your parents. They sure have a good idea in mind," Said Evangeline and the school bell rang to announce the teacher to dismiss her students.
"Okay kids, it's time to go for lunch. Don't forget to bring the cans with you," Warned the teacher making the students nod and get up to store into their satchel their cases and homework to make their way out of the classroom.
"Cody, what happened to your face?" Asked Ruby getting up from her chair noticing the graze on his face, which wasn't as red as usual.
"I fell down yesterday, when I played basketball with Rouven and Elliot," Mentioned Cody making Ruby raise her eyebrows terrorized.
"Whoa. That must have hurt. Did you cry?" Questioned the Swedish girl, making Cody nod.
"Just a little," Answered Cody, then Elliot placed his hand behind his back.
"It was okay. It looked like it hurt a lot," Commented Elliot making Cody nod. "Are you going to eat at home with your mom today?"
"My grandfather is taking me home for lunch and mom will arrive a little later," Answered Kodiak. "What about you?"
"Dad," Responded Elliot. "He took a break from his studies to be more present for me,"
"Where are you all going to have lunch today?" Asked Cody looking at Ruby, which walked along with Nathalie and Eireen.
"My mothers," Responded Eireen, making Ruby nod.
"My dad and his parents," Answered the raven-haired girl.
"My grandmother will take me to visit my grandfather at the senior hotel," Answered Nathalie making Cody nod.
"I keep forgetting how that house is called," Cody confessed making Nathalie nod.
"Me too and daddy told me it many times, how it is called," Commented Nathalie following her friends down to get out of the building. On their way down the stairs, Ruby pointed at a red vehicle, which was parked across the street, and behind the car stood a blonde man adjusting a shopping bag he had inside the car trunk. Ruby waved at her friends, then ran further making her way to the road.
"See you later!" Wished Rouven watching the girl run, then shrieked as she saw a car drive down the street in front of the school and the driver wasn't looking at the road, but down at her lap. "Ruby! Watch out!" Yelled Rouven in panic shocking his group to see the girl step onto the road and see the distracted driver.
In the meanwhile, the grandfather heard his granddaughter cry as she had stopped to see the car head toward the girl, and the driver after hearing the voice, shrieked and initiated an emergency brake with the car still heading towards the girl. From above the park behind the car, appeared Super Nathan landing with the jet pack in front of the girl to pick her up to throw her up in the air to get hit by the car instead, which stopped a few meters after the hit. Ruby's grandfather managed to go behind to catch his granddaughter and embraced the terrified girl tightly. From the car, the grandmother ran out as well to check on the girl and exchanged looks with the husband, which looked at the front to see Super Nathan lie on the ground, slowly getting up on his knees.
"Super Nathan saved Ruby's life!" Shouted Eireen, then watched Nathalie run towards the superhero, which saw the girl appear and he lifted up his hand to assure the daughter he was fine.
"Is the girl alright?" Asked Super Nathan getting up, then Nathalie offered him her hand, which Super Nathan politely took it and gave the girl a smile, which she mirrored.
"You're the greatest, Super Nathan," Complimented the woman approaching the superhero, then noticing the pencil-shaped jet back had gotten broken. "I'm sorry you had to sacrifice your vehicle there just to save our girl,"
"It's fine. I can fix it," Answered Super Nathan looking at Ruby, which was being caressed by her grandfather on the shoulder. "Hey little lady, next time cross the road on the zebra crossing and make sure, the cars do stop," Warned Super Nathan looking at the girl, which was astonished to see the superhero in front of her. "You're alright? You're not hurt?"
"I'm alright, thanks for saving me," Thanked Ruby embracing the hero, which chuckled and watched Nathalie get closer to look at her friend.
"See? He's very cool," Commented Nathalie, then Super Nathan looked at the driver, which got out of the car silently to reveal to be a young woman, and saw everything was okay.
"Is everything okay?" Asked the woman approaching the group, then Super Nathan looked at the kids, which nodded.
"Were you distracted?" Questioned Super Nathan watching the woman place her hand on the elbow feeling a little ashamed.
"I was using my smartphone, to be honest. I had noticed the girl cry and I somehow got panicked with the right use of the electronic handbrake," Explained the young woman making Super Nathan nod. "I learned often to drive on an older vehicle and this kind of confused me right now. I have noticed I should have been more attentive to the road. Luckily you were here to save the day. I sure would now have to deal with a terrible sequence, if you weren't here,"
"It's okay, just be sure to keep your phone off your hands while driving. It's not easy to deal with the loss of a passenger or a pedestrian, maybe not for the driver but for the ones, who loved this person. For your family it sure would be the same, if you were in this kid's place or you would have lost your life while driving or simply be locked in a cell, because of a minor error," Explained Super Nathan making the young woman nod. "Alright, if everything is alright with all of you, I suggest you move on with your life. I have another issue to take care of," Super Nathan announced making the group nod, then Super Nathan helped Nathalie in the opposite direction at the sidewalk and Nathalie waved at the group of friends, which felt more relieved from seeing, that the father saved the day.
"Little lady, your ride awaits you on the other side of the park. Don't worry about me, I'll be meeting you there," Whispered Super Nathan glimpsing at the girl, which nodded and ran along the park leaving Super Nathan back, which observed the Swedish girl being helped into the car leaving a good feeling inside Super Nathan from seeing the admiration of the grandparents for the young girl.
Lila walked along the corridor of the second floor carrying under her arm a book, then entered the hobby room, where Nathaniel could work on his comics in his free time. On the side of the room at the wall was a tall shelf with four boards. The first three were filled with Comic books all sorted after its superhero, including the ones he made by himself. The fourth shelf had several thick books, mostly family albums. Lila shove the book into the shelf, then looked at the other books and pulled out one, which was dark blue, then Lila opened it to see the book belonged to her husband's family. Lila pulled out the next book to see it was written in Italian and pulled it out to notice the next one in the same language.
"How is it, that I have two family albums of mine?" Questioned Lila herself, then looked at the last photo album, which was colored black, and took it out to see the book had no description on it and she opened it up out of curiosity noticing it was slightly lighter than the others. She opened up the book to get surprised at seeing the album turned out to be a hollow book filled with a thick envelope with the letters RL on it.
"Could this be, what I think it is?" Questioned Lila herself opening the envelope to see the content, which seemed to be a bunch of photographs. Lila furrowed her left eyebrow, then pulled it out to see the first image was of the superhero Super Nathan, which stood posed for the image while holding his pen against the tablet.
"What are these images?" Questioned Lila moving to the next image to show another image of Super Nathan wearing a red bow tie on his neck making Lila grin amused at how strange it felt by looking at it. "Why would we have wedding pictures of superheroes at home?" Questioned the woman moving to the next image to see Miss Vixen, the fox-themed superheroine. She held in her hands the flute while smirking at the camera and Lila held the image closer believing to recognize the face from somewhere. Lila passed to the next photo, where she spotted Miss Vixen standing together with Super Nathan smiling at the camera.
"She must be a very lucky woman to have someone like Super Nathan," Commented Lila, then widened her eyes from hearing herself talk. "Why am I talking like that? I'm sounding almost like I was a fangirl of him,"
Lila moved to the next image to see both heroes look behind them while holding hands and behind them, Cat Noir playing the trumpet, making Lila shook her head amused.
"Why is Cat Noir playing a trumpet in this picture?" Questioned Lila moving to the next image to see Miss Vixen stand with her forehead leaned on Super Nathan's having their eyes closed at being adoring to the other at that moment. Miss Vixen had in that image a very satisfied facial expression, showing the love she had for the purple-skinned her, which kept a little smile plastered on his lips, showing adoration as well. The next image showed a lock with the initials SN and MV attached to a fence and it was held down by Super Nathan's hand and above it on the lock was the one from Miss Vixen, which had locked their lock together to signal their bond of matrimony. Lila moved on to the next one and widened her eyes to see the next picture was Super Nathan standing in front of herself, both holding hands together smiling at each other. Lila searched for the previous pictures to see if she could find a picture of Miss Vixen, where she could see her face closer, and tried to compare it with the other picture of herself.
"That must be me…..." Spoke Lila, then remembered the last night criminals had assaulted the Kurtzberg household and Super Nathan had appeared.
"I can't take it to see the people I love getting hurt,"
"Am I married to a superhero?" Questioned Lila, then looked at the last pictures hoping to find any more clues, but there weren't useful to her and she got up. "But how is this supposed to work? Or how are we working with that? We're barely around each other,"
Lila walked out of the corridor into the bedroom, then got to the commode to where her smartphone was and she picked it up to open the browser and typed down fox superheroine along with Super Nathan's hero identity on it. After the search was a success it had corrected it into Super Nathan and Miss Vixen, then she clicked on it to show various options. She pressed on new and scrolled it down, then stopped as she noticed an older post with her civilian name on it.
"Huh…..Miss Vixen turned out to be Lila Rossi, daughter of two Italian ambassadors…...Mysteriously Miss Vixen had fallen off the point of the tower and lose her miraculous during the fall, which made her lose her cover and reveal her face unmasked…...Super Nathan had returned her the miraculous and didn't manage to keep the girl cool, which left without comments. Various journalists tried to seek out information from the heroes, but most of them kept it back,"
"Perhaps, there's a good reason I don't remember being around Super Nathan or how we're not around each other recently," Lila spoke, then looked at one frame with an image of her standing together with Nathaniel while holding their common daughter Nathalie in their arms as she was a toddler. "And I believe Nathaniel might be able to tell me something about it…."
At the retirement home, Nathaniel met up with his daughter, mother, and grandfather for lunch at the cafeteria. The quartet sat around the table eating chicken quesadillas, which was the week's menu. Nathaniel's mother was chatting with her father along with Nathaniel, while the young girl was using the knife and fork to cut the dough along with the meat and she was having trouble to cut down the meat.
"She also remembered Nathalie. That's something good for now, at least for now it's a greater relief. At the moment, both are getting along just as it was before," Commented Nathaniel glimpsing at his daughter noticing the girl still trying to cut the meat with the knife. "The knives aren't that great to cut the meat, right?" Asked the redhead earning a look from the daughter, which nodded. "I will cut it for you," Offered Nathaniel making Nathalie smile.
"Thank you, dad," Said Nathalie, then looked at her grandmother, which looked along with her father at the young girl.
"How is the school doing so far?" Questioned the great-grandfather waiting for the girl to answer.
"It's going good so far," Responded Nathalie, afterward she remembered about the homework sent by Mrs. Donner. "Daddy, I need for today at the school a can for art class. I forgot to tell you that yesterday,"
"Oh uh…..oh wait, Ivan's here today. He sure can organize us a few cans," Promised Nathaniel making the girl nod, afterward Nathaniel shove the plate back to his daughter who smiled and gave her father a small peck on the cheek.
"Thank you!" Answered Nathalie, then began to enjoy her meal and Nathaniel returned to work on his meal.
"She will get graded in a few months for certain homework, the teacher had explained in the last reunion. She has shown to have no problems, which is a relief to all of us," Nathaniel spoke and shove the fork with meat into his mouth. "She's got a good class and all do get along well in there. So far we didn't have any poorly educated kids or teens as I knew a few from my school time," Mentioned Nathaniel making his mother nod.
"You know boy, back in my days, kids about your girl's age had no time to go out on the road and mess up people's belongings as the ones we see nowadays. We had after doing our homework, work at the house. Not only the Kurtzbergs, but all the other families I knew," The grandfather explained making Nathaniel nod neutrally knowing the story very well from his grandpa.
"Nowadays some families just don't have time to be around their kids or don't really show any interest in them as they should. You have seen Lila's parents didn't also have a lot of time for her and we're both together giving our best to make sure this doesn't happen with Nathalie," Commented Nathaniel looking at the daughter swallow her food and look at her dad.
"You and mom did their best for me," Nathalie said placing her hand on the father's arm. "Has daddy told you, that he saved my and mommy's life two days ago?" Asked Nathalie, then Nathaniel placed his hand on the daughter's hand.
"You don't have to let it out here in the public, princess," Nathaniel spoke making the girl nod apologetic.
"Ah I get it, you're still around the city looking for trouble?" Asked the mother making Nathaniel shake his head.
"Actually not, but if something occurs, while I'm in the near I'll give a hand when possible," Explained Nathaniel.
Behind the counter of the cafeteria from the door behind it walked the director along with a few adults and spread them behind the counter to show them the cafeteria.
"This is the renovated side of our cafeteria and behind those marble-covered poles is the new addition to the cafeteria and as you see we already have a couple of guests there along with our aged clients," Said the director making the group nod. The director led the group through the cafeteria and Nathaniel glimpsed at the group spotting the one in the middle that looked to be around the fifties. The man exchanged looks with Nathaniel, which avoided eye contact with the man and Miss Kurtzberg noticed it, then placed his hand on Nathaniel's hand.
"Is that the man, who hurt Lila?" Questioned the raven-haired woman making Nathaniel shake his head.
"Nope, I just felt like the face was somehow familiar to me," Answered Nathaniel making the woman shrug her shoulders.
"Perhaps you've seen him once," Commented Miss Kurtzberg making Nathaniel shrug his shoulders.
Inside the group, Durant Lefevre had glimpsed back at the redhead wondering why he had been focused on him for a little.
"Strange, perhaps it was just a coincidence," Commented Durant, then observed the director show the bulletin board with various information from the retirement home, and right on top on a laminated sheet was a journal article, which had the superheroes Super Nathan and Miss Vixen on it, which according to the news had saved seniors from the retirement home from a fire.
"Mr. Fontaine, is this the article from 2018?" Questioned one of the guests making the man nod.
"Exactly. The night I arrived here as I heard about the fire the two had managed to bring out a part of the seniors," Stated Dominique. "This is now over a decade old. Of the seniors, that were present during that night only four are still around here and only one at the moment has more or less a good memory from that evening. At the moment he's in there at the cafeteria with his family having lunch," Said the head of the home and looked at the table, where the Kurtzbergs sat.
"I think the girl there is in the same class as my two children," Mentioned a blonde woman making the man smile.
"I don't know the child's name, but she's also the daughter of the actress Lila Kurtzberg," Said Dominique making Durant furrow his eyebrows at hearing her name, then he took out from his pocket his smartphone to write down her name and find a small entry of her and he opened it.
"Hmm was born in Milan….spent half of the childhood with her grandmother…...traveled with her parents a lot…...since 2017 living fix in Paris and attended the Françoise Dupont school…..According to amateur videos, she was caught destransforming back into herself, revealing beforehand to be behind the mask of the superheroine Miss Vixen….." Read Durant quiet, then remembered having heard about that during the time he was in jail. "Oh that's his wife?" Questioned Durant looking back at Nathaniel, which was laughing along with his grandfather as by their table stood a large man with short hair and dressed as a cook. "Hmm…."Murmured the man observing the family, then looked back at the director, which had ended the sightseeing.
"Has anyone a question?" Asked Mr. Fontaine watching Durant being the first to raise his arm. "Yes, sir?"
"I had per coincidence read a while ago you're looking for people to work here. Are we still able to send a candidature?" Questioned the Frenchman making the boss nod.
"Sure, if you want, you can give it to me right now," Offered the man earning a nod from the blonde.
"I've got it at home, but I'll pass by today with it. I promise," Said the man earning a nod from the chef, which looked to the next person, that had a question.
A while later, a few of the guests sat on the outside of the cafeteria of the retirement home eating cake and so was Durant, which had been reading a journal he got from the home. He was sitting near the exit leading to the parking spots, where several cars were parked.
Durant heard after a few minutes a girl laughing, then he looked above the journal to see Nathaniel come along with his daughter, which carried in both her hands two conserve cans. Nathalie had looked up at her father, which mirrored her smile and the girl began to race forward making her father chuckle and ran after her.
"Catch me, if you can!" Yelled the girl and raced past the side of Durant earning his attention, which looked at the girl with a smile seeing her get at the lot, then look for their family car. "I found it!"
Nathaniel arrived a little while later by the girl, then watched the girl grab his hand making him nod, which handed the girl out the car key and used it to unlock the car from distance.
Durant looked around to see if anyone was looking in his direction and he took out his smartphone to record them and zoomed closer to them waiting a little while until their dark-gray SUV drove back revealing its license plate and a white sticker, that was stuck on the side of the plate showing a sticker with a small sentence on it and Nathalie's name under it. Durant stopped filming it, then placed his smartphone back and observed the vehicle drive out of the park to get into the road.
