It's finally the day of Santana and Quinn's date. Quinn is nervous but also extremely excited, she has no idea what's in store as Santana won't tell her a thing. The only information given to her is 'dress casual'.
Santana was glad for the first time this week that she wasn't at school because she had the full day to set up for her date and there was lot to sort. She gathered everything she would need and lumbered it all into the car, ready to set off for her day of preparations.
Quinn was glad when the final bell of the day rang, she was surprised this week that no one had approached her with accusations towards her about her dad or people questioning her on the whereabouts of Santana. It actually seemed as though nothing had happened the previous weekend and she was glad for it.
Maribel collected Quinn and Blaine from school as she had come straight from work and she had the car. By the time they arrived home, Quinn had 45 minutes to get ready for her date and so headed straight for a shower and to get ready.
Once she was out of the shower and her hair was dried, she had to pick the perfect outfit. Santana had also said that she needed to be comfy, so she opted for a pair of black skinny jeans, a white, loose fitted blouse and her black leather jacket, with a pair of black boots with a small heel.
She looked her outfit over and was satisfied when she heard the doorbell ring. She heard no one moving in the direction of the door, so decided that she would answer it.
What she wasn't expecting was her date to be standing on the other side of the door, with a bouquet of flowers and a large grin.
"Good evening Miss Fabray. Are you ready for our date?" She offered whilst gently passing the flowers in her hands over to the blonde.
"Tana, they're beautiful. You really didn't have to. But yes I'm ready, just let me go put them in some water." She replies bashfully.
"Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl." Santana grins in response, which causes Quinn's cheeks to flush a darker shade of pink.
Mari takes the flowers from Quinn and tells her she will arrange them and put them in some water so that the girls can get going.
Quinn follows Santana out to the car and offers her 'thanks' as Santana opens and closes the door for her.
The brunette slides into the drivers seat and starts the car.
"So are you going to tell me where we're going then?"
Santana giggles at the other girls impatience.
"Q, I'm not going to tell you now. You have like 10 minutes to wait, we'll be there soon."
Quinn nods in response and turns the radio up a little louder when she hears one of her favourite songs.
Cause baby love, my baby love
Been missin' ya, miss kissin' ya
She sings along and Santana is in awe. She's never heard her blonde sing before and wow, she has a gorgeous voice.
"I didn't know you could sing Q."
"I don't really, just to myself sometimes but I just can't help it when I hear the Supremes."
"You know there's a Dianna Ross and the Supremes record in your room somewhere. You can play them any time you want." Santana offers while sneaking a glance at her blonde counterpart.
"Are you serious? I wouldn't want to start going through your things Tana."
"If I had something to hide from you, trust me, it wouldn't be in there Blondie. What's mine is yours now, you can use whatever you find in there." She replies with a genuine smile.
With that, they arrive at their destination. Santana exits the car and runs around to let Quinn out the other side, she offers her hand which Quinn gladly accepts.
"You've brought me to the woods?" Quinn says with confusion laced in her tone.
Santana just chuckles, "Come on." She extends her hand and Quinn takes a hold linking their fingers. They walk across the border of the fields and then Quinn sees a path of light.
"You know that day I disappeared for a few hours and Blaine was looking for me," Quinn nods to show she remembers, "well this is where he found me." She finishes and points upwards into a gathering of trees.
Infront of her are tens of battery powered candles leading the way to a large tree, home to a huge wooden tree house. She turns to Santana with an amazed look, to which Santana smiles and continues to drag her to the bottom of the ladder.
"After you my lady." She says and holds the ladder still for Quinn to climb up. As soon as she sees her safely inside, she pulls herself up.
The blonde looks around the relatively large space mesmerised by what she sees.
Santana has decorated with fairy lights hanging from the ceiling and the few photos that they have together are all dangling from the roof by varied sized pieces of string. When Quinn looks up, she notices that the roof has a hatch and is open so that they can star gaze.
Covering the floor are numerous blankets and in the corner is a small picnic basket brimming with food.
"Do you like it?" Santana whispers into the silence.
"Tana, this is - this is amazing. I can't believe you did you all of this!" Quinn exclaims.
"I wanted to do something intimate for our first date. I thought that dinner and a movie was too cliche." She laughs as she takes a seat on a small cushion and offers the other to Quinn who takes a seat beside her.
Quinn laughs with her still in amazement of the effort from the brunette.
"Are you hungry? Mami taught me how to cook a few things so I've spent most of my day trying to perfect them." Santana says shyly.
"You might be the most thoughtful person I've ever met. Have you spent your whole day preparing this?" Santana nods in response.
"Thank you." She whispers.
"Well don't thank me yet, the night could still be a disaster, the food could be awful and it could rain." She jokes trying to lighten the mood again.
They both laugh and begin to dig into the food. It turns out, Santana really has mastered the main and dessert that she'd cooked. They tidy the left overs away and the brunette suggests that they lie down and star gaze, an idea the blonde is particularly fond of.
Santana lies on her back and Quinn lays her head on the other girls shoulder and pulls Santana's arm around her waist.
They chat mindlessly about how their weeks have been, what's happened at school and how Santana feels about returning on Monday.
They lie in a comfortable silence for a while until Quinn sits up, props her head up on her elbow and lays her other hand on Santana's stomach, absentmindedly drawing random patterns.
"What's on your mind pretty girl?" Santana preempts.
"Is it okay if I ask you something personal? It's okay if you don't want to answer?" Quinn whispers as if someone may over hear them.
Santana senses that something is bothering Quinn and decides to sit up so they can have this conversation face to face, a position Quinn mirrors.
"You can ask me anything Lucy Q. I have nothing to hide from you, I want you to know me. All of me."
"I've been wondering about how you hide your, your, you know." She mumbles out and gestures to the other girls crotch.
Santana smiles at the other girls nervousness. "You don't need to be shy asking about it Q. It's natural to be curious, it's not exactly normal. I'll tell you whatever you want to know. To hide it, I wear these compression shorts under all my clothes. They're like really really skin tight and they sort of squash everything down."
"Surely that isn't comfortable?"
"No, they're definitely not comfortable but it's something I have to wear if I want it to stay a secret." She says shrugging.
"So you wear them at school but you take them off when you get home right?" She quizzes.
"Honestly? It used to be the first thing I did but since before you moved in and you, Kurt and Cedes were coming around more, I leave them on now. After I told you about it, I didn't want to stop wearing them because I didn't want to make you feel uneasy." She says looking down to the wooden floor boards.
"Tana, that's silly. Nothing about you makes me uncomfortable. Do they hurt you?"
"They did when I had to first start wearing them, when my bulge started to become noticeable but I suppose I'm used to it now. They leave marks but they obviously aren't permanent so it's okay."
Quinn feels as overwhelming sadness when she realises the lengths Santana goes to to hide this part of herself. She understands why she does it, but wishes that she didn't have to.
"Can I see the marks?"
Santana doesn't respond, just undoes the buttons on her jeans and lowers them slightly so that she can pull the top of the shorts down.
Tears spring to Quinn's eyes as she studies the angry red marks left in the wake of the shorts. She softly caresses her fingers over them and looks Santana in the eye.
"I don't want you to wear them around me anymore. Not when you don't feel you need to. If it was up to me you wouldn't wear them again but I understand why you do. Please don't put yourself through this when it's not necessary. I'm more than at ease around you Tana, I hope you can feel the same way about me."
"I do feel like that around you Q, it's just not so easy to hide, you know? I promise, I won't wear them in the house when I don't need to though, but you have to promise me that if it gets too much you'll tell me and I'll put them straight back on."
Quinn nods and with that they resume their previous lying down position.
"Can you get someone pregnant?" Quinn blurts out.
Santana can't help but laugh at the blondes outburst. "They've ran many tests on me over the years and they say that I can but I suppose only time will tell. It'll be a trial and error experiment." She jokes.
"You better not be trialing and experimenting with anybody Santana Lopez!" Quinn demands, slapping her lightly on her midsection.
Santana grins to herself amusedly and pulls Quinn closer to her, "Don't worry blondie, I'm not interested in anyone that isn't in this treehouse." She says whilst planting a gentle kiss onto a mop of blonde hair.
Content with Santana's reply, they settle back down to watch the sky as the world passes them by.
It was soon getting late and the girls decide that it was time to head home. They gathered the blankets, hanging photos, rubbish and all the leftover food into the picnic basket, Santana closed the roof and they climbed down the ladder.
They collected the candles from the path back to the car and threw everything into the trunk. Santana still insisted on opening and closing Quinn's door, which made her blush every time.
On the drive back to the house, Quinn slipped her hand onto Santana's thigh and the Latina couldn't help but smile at the small gesture.
All to quickly, they arrived back home and Santana pulled up into the driveway. She stopped the car and took one last look over at Quinn who looked just as disappointed that the night was over.
She clambered out and around to the passenger door to relieve Quinn and collected the basket from the trunk.
As Quinn was about to open the door, the brunette gently grabbed her wrist and lowered it back down to her side.
"I'm supposed to say goodnight at the door after a date." She said to which Quinn giggled in response and nodded.
"I had a really good night Tana. I couldn't have asked for a better first date, so thank you."
They caught each other's eyes and were both captivated by the pair belonging to the other girl. None of them spoke for a few seconds and it was the hazel eyed beauty that broke the staring.
"Kiss me Tana." She said so softly, that if you weren't listening, you wouldn't have heard it.
Santana recovered from her shock pretty quickly and gave the blonde another look as if to ask if she was sure.
The blonde gave a small nod in response and repeated herself, "Kiss me."
Santana took a small nervous step forward, gently cupping both of Quinn's cheeks into her hands as Quinn rested hers on strong hips. She looked into her eyes one last time looking for any signs of uncertainty but could only see lust and want. She caressed both cheeks with her thumbs and leaned in slowly.
As their lips connected for the first time, Santana felt Quinn's breath hitch as they continued to lovingly brush their lips against each other, fireworks exploding behind eyelids, goosebumps arising over both girls bodies. It conveyed everything that was left unspoken in regards to their feelings for one another. And they both knew it.
Their first kiss came to a natural end and both girls were breathing heavily once they had parted, not from the intensity of the kiss but from the emotional connection that they felt for each other.
Quinn leant in for one last peck and then whispered "Goodnight Tana." And entered the house, leaving a dumbfounded Latina on the doorstep.
Best first date, ever.
Santana followed Quinn inside, locked the door and they both went off to their respective rooms, even though until tomorrow Santana was still bunking with Blaine.
Quinn dressed herself in her usual sleeping attire of Santana's boxers and hoodie and settled down into her bed for the next.
Just as she was about to drift into sleep, she heard her phone buzzing on the night stand.
I'm sorry if I woke you already but it couldn't wait. Go out with me again after the football game Friday? x - S
Did you really have to ask? x - Q
Goodnight Lucy Q, sweet dreams. Xx - S
And with the thoughts and scent of the Latina, the blonde crashed into a deep sleep.
