Chapter 29
Two hours later, Nathaniel, Luka Kagami, Adrien, Lila, Marinette along with their kids walked with Alix Kubdel along the corridor of the Louvre.
"What about Adrien's parents and Hope?" Questioned Alix looking back at their group.
"They're still out of Paris. They're informed about what happened and the police also know about Durant's assault, they have Diogo's notes, Marinette's, and Rouven's," Mentioned Luka making Alix nod. "Lila came along, she was supposed to get to her mother at the embassy,"
"Alright, there's no need to worry about danger. Everything is locked up just like every night. No one's here, besides the night watchman and us. Down at the pharaoh exhibit is the perfect place for us all to be….or do you want to sit down? So we just stay at the northern aisle," Suggested Alix. "Anywhere we have our privacy,"
"I think it's fine right here in the aisle," Commented Marinette. "There's no window or anything for someone to look for us," The woman mentioned earning a nod from the group.
"Good, this means we can now discuss a plan," Commented Luka making Alix nod, then Adrien raised up his arm to earn the group's attention.
"I just have a little thing, I need to get out of my chest," Adrien announced. "I have no idea, what my third-grade cousin or something has done, but I want to apologize for what has happened to Marinette right now. None of us had expected, that this would have been possible. I wish we could have seen this coming and prevent it," Adrien spoke making Marinette nod.
"It was just bad luck or perhaps he knew something was up and tried to get his way into our apartment by befriending me or Rouven," Stated Marinette making Luka nod, then they heard a quiet voice and looked down at the half-French boy.
"I'm sorry, Maman," Apologized Rouven making the adults swarm about how adorable it had sounded to them.
"It just happened, buddy. It's not your fault," Commented Luka opening his arms for his son to walk into him, so he would be caressed by his father.
"Durant had threatened to hurt my son. He did not do anything worse, besides cutting off the air to him," Commented Luka making Marinette.
"Perhaps he could have just bluffed, but I feared, that he was being serious and….I don't know, I just panicked at that moment as Rouven was caught by him,"
"You don't have to justify yourself, Marinette. I'm sure most of us, would have done the same, if it would have brought our own kids in danger," Comforted the Japanese woman earning a nod from her husband.
"I sure would have headbumped him, if he did anything to my Elliot," Warned Adrien making Kagami nod sternly about the comment.
"At the moment, as everyone's talking about fears….Durant has commented, that he knew where we live. You know me, Lila, Nathalie. He knows the exact street. Not the number of the building, but he easily figured out Lila's name from knowing her past superhero issue. She's got a trivia page about herself since she's an actress. Most of the info she's got there, Durant must have figured it out as well,"
"There we see it. Despite Lila not wielding the fox miraculous anymore, she's still in the range of the danger. The good thing about this all, was that no other evil had any of the remaining miraculouses from the box. Just now Durant, whose got now the rooster miraculous," Mentioned Marinette making the group nod, then Kagami moved her hand up.
"Sorry for the interruption, but what exactly does the rooster miraculous do?" Questioned Kagami.
"Well the power of sublimation, grants the user to be able to use any kind of power he desires. Depending on how well he phrases the wish, he might be strong enough to take it easy with us. I mean, I'm not saying, that we're powerless against him, but at least against two, there's a higher chance, that we could lose," Marinette explained. "This is why I preferred to call the whole...part of the group. Luka with the snake miraculous can return back in time, in case something happens. Super Nathan has his drawing ability, Cat Noir and I have our fighting skill, Kagami both fighting and elemental skills. We're good enough to take it with Durant," Marinette commented. "Yep, he has a bit of knowledge with the moth and peacock miraculous, but that's a long time ago. The three miraculouses work all different, just…...well the issue here is…..he's capable of handling the miraculous easier, due to the knowledge,"
"Okay, okay…..alright, look we're all here. We're a team, we'll go all together into this and leave together as well with the rooster miraculous and the bad guy," Commented Kagami making Adrien nod confidently.
"And when he's gone, we're all safe. Most importantly you two," Nathaniel commented looking back at his wife, which had beside her their daughter, which was listening to the conversation and looked up at her mother.
"Okay!" Luka clapped with his hands to rub them together. "You're wondering, what the plan is, right?" Questioned the raven-haired man earning a nod from the group. "Well, at the moment, we have no idea where or how we can find Durant. Now with the police looking for him it makes it a little harder for us. One thing or two we could have set fix is that if one of us spots him, we write in capital letters where and pursue him immediately. Depending on how he's going, we first remain hidden. When the first three show up, we get down and catch him. This is a way it could, go, but we never know. Keep this as an example," Luka explained earning a nod from the group, then Adrien moved his hand up.
"What do you think, Durant would do, if anyone would be without protection or anything walk on the city, like our kids or anything. Is there a chance, he would capture one?" Questioned the blonde making Luka shrug his shoulders.
"He can't do much with the rooster miraculous for now. Unless the point of him is….we saw, that he had threatened Nathaniel by revealing the knowledge of his family. He perhaps could be planning to take Lila or even Nathalie with him and use her to get to us. Instead of having akumas fight us for the miraculous,"
"I don't want to be stolen," Nathalie confessed hugging her mother's leg tightly, then Lila looked down at her daughter hurt and placed her arm around the girl's back.
"We're not letting this happen," The mother stated, then Nathaniel looked back at the two brunettes and kneeled down at the girl to take her hands.
"Look at me, princess. Daddy's there for you and mommy. I won't let anyone take you away from me and if this really happens, you don't need to worry about. I will be going after you. If they take you up at the alps or to the other side of the world, be sure that's where daddy will go too. He won't stop until he's got you," Nathaniel stated tipping the girl on the nose, making her chuckle.
"I'm pretty sure it won't get that far," Luka commented, then Marinette shove Luka on the shoulder.
"When Adrien and I rescue Emilie he was hiding her in Villeneuve. They were in Switzerland this whole time," Marinette noticed, making Luka wide his eyes from not knowing that fact.
"If Durant now wanted to hide or anything he would now avoid Switzerland since he's got an entry ban since that sentence. At least for two years more I think," Mentioned Adrien making Marinette nod.
"I think they've got that, because of overflooding jails," Commented Nathaniel making Luka nod.
"Anyway, jails there are terrible. Terrible in a way of, it doesn't really look like a jail, where you're meant to think about your evil actions," Commented the tall man. "Perhaps, there's a second reason to why the many seem to return to jail again or in an occasion, between the choice of paying a high debt with social work, they'll rather stay there for a month or something,"
"They've taken human rights a little to far it seems. Not even Japan is like that," Commented Kagami.
"Guys, I know I have listened to your plan, but I kind of have an offer I could do, that eventually would help us all out in a way with Durant," Lila raised up the arm as she suggested them the idea.
"Sure, feel free to say, what's on your mind," Commented Marinette making Lila smile.
"What about I walk out on the city in certain places more often, so that I'm a easy prey for Durant to kidnap me? If that's his future plan?" Questioned Lila watching Luka and Marinette exchange looks.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" Asked Marinette, then Lila looked at Nathaniel, who still was on the ground beside their daughter.
"Someone of you, can be in the near and if witnessing my disappearance you can act all fast," Lila commented. "Or I could hide somewhere on my clothes a tracker and with that help you'll be able to track me down fast. Is this possible?"
"The idea is not bad," Commented Marinette, then Nathaniel got up to look at his wife a little worried.
"Are you sure you want to, despite no miraculous or anything?" Questioned the redhead making Lila nod.
"Don't worry, I'm certain from all the stories I read and heard the past months, you all are great superheroes. I trust you all….well I have to. I know it's a good thing,"
"Okay, we've got Lila's option. We haven't gotten many chances," Mentioned Marinette. "If anyone has an additional idea. Just say it and we'll see along with the others, what else we can do….,"
The group left the Louvre heading towards different directions and the Agreste car followed the SUV of the Kurtzbergs along the avenue out of the center.
Kagami sat on the driver seat guiding the vehicle with her husband sitting beside her looking out of the window thoughtfully.
"I'm wondering, it there's the same reason for my cousin to get the miraculouses. If he wants to change the world, the people, the past, or anything. My father wanted to have our miraculouses to find my mother and it turned out, that my mother was actually just kidnapped," Spoke Adrien.
"Perhaps it's going to be the same motivation. If not, he could as well want to have each of the miraculous. Whatever it is, it's not something good," Commented Kagami earning a nod from the blonde.
"I'm pretty sure it's not," Agreed the blonde, then pointed at the traffic light switching to orange and both watched the SUV of the Kurtzbergs pass by orange making Kagami chuckle.
"I'm pretty sure Lila's the one driving," Kagami commented.
"Why? Because they passed by orange?" Questioned Adrien making Kagami nod. "I don't know the driving styles of both, but I think both pass by orange as well," Noticed Adrien watching Kagami stop by red and observe a few miles further the SUV stop by the next traffic light.
At the front, Nathaniel sat in front of the steering wheel looking at the traffic light waiting for it to turn green. Lila glimpsed out of the window to look at the buildings, then returned her eyes to look at her husband, which looked focused on the traffic lights. Lila smiled amused at how attentive the husband was towards the street code rules, despite the part of the road they were around no car was present at the moment to cross the road junction.
"You're quite a correct man, Nathy," Commented Lila making Nathaniel chuckle softly.
"You know in front of your own kids you should somewhat be an idol to them," Nathaniel commented looking back at Nathalie, which was playing a game on the smartphone, that belonged to Lila. Lila chuckled from seeing the daughter amused by the video game.
"Be careful sweetheart or you get sick while playing during the drive," Commented Lila making Nathalie shake her head.
"I never get sick in driving. Daddy's a soft driver," Commented Nathalie making Lila chuckle along with the redhead.
"Well your daddy's glad to hear that. The trips to Italy tend to be different," Spoke Nathaniel making Lila nod.
"Just longer trips sometimes are tiring," Commented Nathalie followed by a yawn.
"I know her staying back with my mother would have been better, but she wasn't around up until the last message as we left," Stated Nathaniel making Lila shrug her shoulders.
"It's alright, at least we know she was safe," Stated the woman making her husband nod.
Nathaniel looked back at the traffic lights to see it change, then pressed the accelerator to move on.
Back to the Agrestes, their traffic light had changed as well and Kagami moved further on their Sedan and Adrien moved his head further to the windshield to look up at the sky, then he pointed up at a building.
"Hey do you see the same, what I see up there?" Questioned Adrien, then Kagami opened the side window to glimpse out and see up on the roof a person in a dark, unrecognizable outfit jumping down on the ground to head towards the road.
"That looks odd….wait, that must be Durant with the miraculous," Warned Kagami, then Adrien took out his smartphone to make a group video chat to the other superheroes.
"I'll be telling them about this," Stated Adrien watching the person run towards the SUV of the family, then jumped against it to push it from the front against a light pole. "No!"
"Adrien, what's going on?" Questioned Luka as he was the first one answering the call.
By the car, the rooster-themed villain stood in front of the car to see the airbags had been activated and he went around the car to watch Lila move her airbag away from her face calling for a girl's name and the miraculous holder looked back at the window, which had the window covered with the beige-colored air balloon and he opened up the back door to see the girl's legs, then he used his fountain pen to crack the airbag and shove it away to be able to see the girl, which was in panic and looked at the rooster-themed supervillain. Nathalie recognized thanks to the mohawk hairstyle of the holder, that it was the villain and screamed. Durant ordered her to be quiet, then looked around to recognize the vehicle of the Agreste's stop beside and saw from the co-driver side Cat Noir get out to make his way towards the SUV.
"Damn it!" Said Durant picking Nathalie up, then ran away from the location.
Inside the SUV, Lila had opened her eyes and shrieked noticing, she sat inside the vehicle with the airbag in front of her and she shove it away from her and looked at Nathaniel, which was lying with his head against the seat of his car and Lila placed her hands on his face.
"Nathy, you're alright?" Asked Lila, then noticed Nathalie was gone and pulled the airbag further to the floor to see the cock-themed superhero ran off with her daughter. "Nathalie, no! Shouted Lila opening the door to try to get up, then noticed her seatbelt was fastened tightly due to the accident, then removed it from the buckle and got out of the car to race behind the villain, which was several feets away from her.
"Lila, get back!" Ordered a familiar voice, then Lila looked behind her to see Cat Noir pass by her and point at the vehicle. "Stay here, we're coming already,"
"I'm not leaving my daughter on that jerk's hands!" Warned Lila, then Cat Noir pointed at the vehicle.
"I know you don't. I and Ryuko are taking care of the case. Make sure Nathaniel is alright," Cat Noir commented shrieking Lila, which looked at the car and got around the pole to open the door to see him lying against the seat with eyes closed and took off his seat belt, then tried to pull him out. While on it, she observed Cat Noir ran along the road to follow the bad guy and observed each light pole have a short circuit, which turned the light off for a second, one pole after the other, which in reality was just Ryuko traveling with her lighting power.
Lila managed to put Nathaniel on the ground on the side, then opened the back door to look for her smartphone, which she couldn't find anywhere. Lila heard the ringtone of Nathaniel's smartphone, then took it from her husband's jacket to see Luka was calling, which she attended it.
"Luka?"
"Adrien told me, what happened. Are you two alright?"
"Cat Noir and Ryuko are going behind Durant. I believe it was Durant. He looked like a black rooster or something. It must be him. He…. took my daughter and I think he caused us to crash…..cause there's no way Nathaniel would have crashed the way it did," Lila explained a little panicky.
"We will go there to you. Have you called an ambulance already?" Questioned Luka.
"Not yet, it's the 112, right?" Questioned Lila.
"Yeah…...wait, doesn't the car have an SOS button or something?" Questioned Luka.
"Uh good question," Commented Lila, then noticed Nathaniel move and dropped the smartphone down to approach him. "Nathaniel, can you hear me?" Lila asked watching the man nod low, then she leaned her forehead on his emotionally from seeing he was alive. The woman began to sob, making on Nathaniel's smartphone Luka call for Lila's name louder, hoping to gain her attention. Lila, which had heard it pressed on the loudspeaker icon and heard Rouven at the background ask about the life state.
"Nathaniel is alive," Commented Lila making Luka sigh relieved.
"Good, good, we're on the way, Lila. Stay there with him. Make sure he doesn't faint or anything," Warned Luka making Lila nod, then she heard the sirens of an ambulance and she looked up to see a white ambulance come from the bridge over the Seinte taking a turn towards the location the couple was on.
"Oh good, someone called the ambulance," Mentioned Lila, then Nathaniel rolled his eyes at their SUV and Lila looked into the interior to see the airbag had deflated slowly, then above she spotted the red emergency button Luka asked about, and beside it, a green light was blinking.
"The car can do it by itself," Nathaniel pointed out making Lila nod and caressed her husband on the shoulder gently awaiting the arrival of the ambulance.
