Summary: In which the Fantastic Four celebrate Independence Day.
Newt opened the window to let the owl in. It dropped a letter onto the table before flying out again. Newt opened it to find a message from Jacob.
Hey, Newt! You should come over to America for Independence Day! We are going to have a big party. Lots of fireworks. It's going to be amazing! Bring your brother, too! Hopefully, he can make it. I know he is busy at the Ministry. See you soon!
Jacob
"An American celebration," Newt said. He looked at his Niffler, Teddy. "I think we've earned a vacation. We both know Theseus needs one!"
Teddy tossed a bouncy ball across the floor at Newt, who caught it. He threw it back.
"I'll let him know," Newt said, sticking his head into the fireplace for a few moments. When he stood up again, he told Teddy, "We leave tomorrow!"
Due to the time zones, they had to leave late in the afternoon to be able to arrive at Jacob's home in time for the party as America was a few hours earlier. Queenie spent the hot day by the pool with her sister, Tina, while the men BBQ-ed burgers for everyone. Teddy went around stuffing American coins into his pouch, refusing to give any back. He scampered through people's legs to get away from those chasing him. Mischief was managed!
At night, fireworks started firing, which scared Teddy. He ran into Newt's arms, curling up next to his chest. It was always safe here, even when Newt was yelling at him. Of course, it cost him all his coins as Newt quickly shook the beast out, causing everything to tinkle down onto one of the tables before holding Teddy close.
Teddy glanced at the shiny coins for a moment, watching as Theseus put them all into a bag to return to everyone later; but he stayed in Newt's arms where he was safe from the nasty bangs!
The night sky was sparkling with many colors. It went on until midnight. Newt put Teddy away in the case before the grand finale of a large volley of rockets to end the whole affair went off.
The ending lasted for about fifteen minutes, finishing with the shape of a nice large golden number four in the sky before cascading in sparkles to die in the leftover smoke.
America's birthday was done for another year.
