Chapter 3

Lois' next stop was mission find the Blur. Of course, the Blur could be anywhere in this time, but she needed to at least try to lur him out—and what better way to lur him out then to put herself in harm's way? And Lois decided the perfect place was right by their special phonebooth. Of course, Lois knew the Blur might not show. For all she knew, the Blur wasn't alive in this time, or maybe he was really young, like her. A little kid wouldn't be saving the day. Still, Lois had to try.

"Blur!" Lois yelled. "Are you out there?"

Of course, no response.

"I'm getting mugged! Help! Please, help!"

Again, no response. Okay, maybe the Blur wasn't coming. Or maybe the Blur was watching her and saw there was no mugging going on.

"Blur, if you're listening… I'm from the future," Lois said. "I need your help."

Silence.

Okay, maybe mission find the Blur was out of the window. Lois needed another game plan. Maybe… Green Arrow? No, Oliver would only be around six in this time. Anyone Lois knew in the future that could possibly help her could not help her in this time. No, Lois had to get back to the future on her own. She could easily do this, couldn't she? Piece of cake. She was a strong, independent woman. Getting stranded in the past was no biggie. Yet, thinking those thoughts was easier than actually doing it. She had no leads, other than finding her missing ring.

Guess it was back to finding that time-traveling ring. Lois headed back to the cornfield. She tried to trace her steps back to where she remembered waking up, which was near-impossible. All parts of the cornfield looked near identical. Lois walked for over two hours when she spotted something shiny on the ground. Her heart nearly leaped out of her chest when she realized what it was. The ring. Her teleporting, time-travelling, horror-inducing ring. "Got ya," Lois said. "Now, how do you work?"

Lois just held the ring in her palm and walked back to the Kent farm. She thought about the mini-Clark she had just left there. She couldn't just completely desert the kid, right?

She made it back to the Kents. She found Martha, Jonathan, and mini-Clark at the kitchen table. Clark was munching on cookies.

"Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Kent," Lois said. "Hey, mini-Clark. Hope you didn't mind me dropping mini-Clark with you."

"Oh, it was lovely having this little boy with us. Did you find what you were looking for?" Martha asked.

"Sort of," Lois said. "I found the ring I was wearing when I had my little Back to the Future moment. I think the ring caused me to the go back in time. I guess I'll take mini-Clark back and head back to town."

Lois reached for mini-Clark's hand and they left the house.

"Come on, mini-Clark," Lois said. "Let's search for your parents. I guess I should pick out a name for you, huh?"

Lois wandered along the cornfield. She didn't find anyone unconscious who could possibly be mini-Clark's parents. Lois knew she couldn't take care of him forever. Maybe she should drop him off at child services. With Lois' whole time travel dilemma, and the fact she wasn't exactly the best babysitter, she probably wasn't the best person to watch over this little guy.

Lois, now carrying mini-Clark, looked down at the ring in her hands. Curiously, she slipped the ring on her finger. She just wished it would take her back to her time, 2009. Maybe it wasn't the ring that had transported her back in time, but something else. But then, Lois started to feel dizzy and the cornfield started to become blurry.

When the cornfield started to become clear, Lois just blinked. "What the hell was that?"

When Lois reached the end of the cornfield, she didn't realize anything was off. She headed back to the Kent Farm. Maybe she should just let Martha and Jonathan watch over mini-Clark… again. Lois was still feeling dizzy.

When Lois reached the farm, she knocked on the door. Martha answered. Her eyes widened when saw Lois, like she was looking at a ghost.

"Lois," Martha said, her eyes widening. She then looked at mini-Clark. "How—?"

"I need you to watch mini-Clark again," Lois said. She didn't even realize that Martha looked older than she had before. "When I put on the ring, something happened. I don't want to bring a kid into this."

"Lois," Martha said. "I'm not sure how you time traveled again, but… I haven't seen you in over twenty years."

Lois stared with wide eyes. "What?"

"You came to the future twenty years ago claiming to be from the future and that you stayed with us at one point in time, but I haven't seen you again until now."

"What year is it?" Lois said.

"2009."

"If it's 2009, then…. Clark. I'm going to find Clark."

"Lois," Martha said. "Who's Clark?"
