Chapter 6

All right, Lois, you couldn't have changed the future too much. Still, it was still devastating to realize she had just realized she erased the man she loved more than everyone. There was just a little version of him waiting in the Kent farm. But Lois really wanted her Clark. The next best thing was the Blur. At least he was alive in this timeline, right? She was now back in 2009. "I need to talk to the Blur," Lois said.

Chloe frowned. "The Blur?"

"Don't tell me the world also forgot about the Blur too!" Lois said. "I write about him all the time!"

Chloe raised her eyebrows. "You writing? Yeah, in a completely other dimension."

"I write for the Daily Planet," Lois said. "You're the one who got me into journalism. The Torch, remember? Of course, it was the barn door nearly hitting my face that made me realize journalism was my calling."

Chloe laughed. "Since when did you go to the Smallville high?"

Lois raised her eyebrows. "Since I realized I didn't have enough credits to go to the college so I had to repeat my senior year. Of course, Lex managed to get me the credits and I was able to go to Met U. Then, I got kicked out…"

"Lois," Chloe said. "When I finally got out of hiding after I faked my death, you weren't in Smallville. I heard you visited, stayed in your car for a little bit, but then that got kind of uncomfortable so you headed home. What happened in your timeline?"

"I was investigating your death. My car broke down, and I found Clark in a cornfield in his birthday suit without any memories. When he regained his memories and was more himself, he said I could live with him, at the Kents."

"So, without Clark offering you a place to eat and sleep, you headed back to Metropolis," Chloe said in realization.

"So," Lois said. "If I'm not working at the Daily Planet, what am I doing here?"

"Waitressing, bartendering, small jobs like that," Chloe said. "I still can't picture you as a journalist."

"Yeah, what really got me into journalist was trying to explain the unexplainable. A barn door had nearly flown into me."

Chloe stared at her incredously. "A barn door?"

"Talk about the impossible! I first wrote for the Inquisitor and then eventually the Daily Planet. Clark's my partner."

"You mentioned the Blur earlier," Chloe said. "Who's that?"

"Some superhero who can run the speed of light and saves lives. He's afraid to leave the shadows. He talks to me sometimes in a phone booth with a voice modifier."

"Are you sure he's not Clark?" Chloe said.

"Clark being the Blur? Absolutely no way in realm of all things possible. The Clark and the Blur are like apples and pears. They are not the same! The Blur is everything Clark is not."

"I'm just saying… if Clark is gone in your world, and the Blur is also gone… isn't that quite a coincidence? Or maybe Clark just left a huge impact on the Blur to make him become the superhero that he is in your world."

"Believe me, Clark's not talking to the Blur," Lois said. "Now, I have to go back collect little Smallville."

"Little Smallville?"

Lois shrugged. "Smallville's just what I call my Clark. See you later, Cuz."
