It'd been four years since Mari fell into a coma from the accident, and everyone never thought she'd ever wake up. Except for Hero, who would visit her every day only at night when visiting hours would cut slim. He always held hope like everyone else, but he KNEW in his heart that she'd eventually awaken.

Aubrey is kicked out of the house by her mother when she's 18. Left homeless, with no other friends left in Faraway as everyone else has moved on, she's forced to go to Basil. He takes her in despite everything she did to him years ago, appearing to have moved on. But as she sees more of his daily life, she finds he may not have recovered from the past nearly as much as he seems.

After Sunny's confession, his mother disowns him. Hero hastily decides to adopt him and buys his old house. Things start well, Sunny restarts school and the group continues to mend their relationship. But there's one problem in the household: a steadily growing antipathy toward Sunny for what he did that Hero's not entirely sure he can control as the stress of parenthood piles on.

Sunny has *That* Dream again. But it comes with a twist!

It was that day when Sunny accidently pushed her sister from the stairs. Fortunately, Mari survived with no permanent injuries. On the other hand, Sunny was met with verbal abuse from his parents and... Hero. After being driven into a corner, Sunny ran away. (AO3 version has images!) Warning: This fic touches suicide.

I HIGHLY recommend the Archive of Our Own version of this fic, as it has formatting which better conveys the duality and terror of this fight. Yet I did the best that I could with this version.
