In the next chapter, Dragon Quest 8 Hero will summon monsters to help him like in the Dragon Quest Monsters series.
Chapter 5: Showdown At Joilant Fun Park
In an abandoned amusement park called Joilant Fun Park, the sky was gray and no people were around. That is except a black bunny with white cheeks and white tips on his ears, wearing a blue cap, blue shirt, dark blue shorts, yellow gloves, and red shoes. His name is Klonoa, the Wind Hero of Lunatea.
Klonoa: Man, I never see the place so empty. This park used to be very lively.
Suddenly, Heartless appeared around him. He was shocked, but got into his stance. Then something crept up behind him. He turns to see a giant statue of Ghadius behind him.
Klonoa: Oh my gosh! It's Ghadius!
He begins to run off, but the statue chases after him. He had to fight off some Heartless along the way like Shadow Heartless, Soldier Heartless, and bat-like Heartless with hooks called Hook Bats. The Hook Bats attack Klonoa with their hooks, but he easily dodges their attack. He threw his Wind Ring like a boomerang at the Heartless to grab them and threw them at other Heartless. He made his way to some gates with buttons. He hits the buttons, opening the gates. He would soon reach a giant pool with some platform.
Klonoa: Maybe if I jump on the platforms over the pool, the statue would fall into it.
He jumps onto the platforms over the pool and the statue fell into the pool, making a huge splash. Klonoa sighs in relief.
Klonoa: That was close.
As he jumps back to the ground, the statue jumps out of the pool.
Klonoa: WHAT? He's still chasing me?
He keeps running away from the statue. After a long chase, he turns to face it.
Klonoa: Don't it run out of energy?
He didn't look where he was going and he trips over a branch and got his foot stuck.
Klonoa: Oh no!
He tried to break free, but he couldn't, as the statue gains up on him.
Klonoa: I...I can't break free! SOMEONE HELP!
?: REV ROLL!
Suddenly, a yellow ball appears and knocks the statue down. Klonoa looks up to see a yellow round creature with black oval eyes and wears red gloves and boots. He knew who it was.
Klonoa: Pac-Man! Boy, am I glad to see you!
Pac-Man: You OK, Klonoa?
He got Klonoa free from the branch.
Klonoa: Yeah, thanks to you.
He saw the statue get up. Pac-Man saw it too.
Pac-Man: Don't worry about him. Leave it to me.
He jumps high and threw a Power Pellet really hard at the statue. It hits the statue and explodes. Pac-Man and Klonoa shields themselves to see a tall pale man wearing a golden bird-like mask and black robes emerge. He is Ghadius.
Ghadius: Curse you, Pac-Man! I had Klonoa where I wanted him until you showed up!
Pac-Man: And now it's your turn to take a flight!
He and Klonoa got into their stances. Ghadius summons meteors and purple bunny-like monsters called Death Moos to attack Pac-Man and Klonoa, but they easily dodged his attacks. Klonoa threw his Wind Ring to grab the Death Moos and threw them at Ghadius, while Pac-Man threw his Power Pellets at him. They both did some damage to Ghadius. He then fires three boomerangs with two Death Moos each to attack Pac-Man and Klonoa, but they still dodged his attacks. Klonoa grabs the Death Moos and threw them at Ghadius, while Pac-Man threw his Power Pellets at him. They both did some more damage to Ghadius. He then summons an electric triangle with three Death Moos in it to attack Pac-Man and Klonoa, but they still dodged his attack. Pac-Man and Klonoa did their usual strategy on Ghadius. He took more damage and explodes in a burst of light. Klonoa looks at Pac-Man.
Klonoa: Thank you, Pac-Man. But I don't get it. Why is Ghadius attacking you and me all of a sudden? Sure he is my enemy and all, but...
Pac-Man thought for awhile.
Pac-Man: Perhaps someone is up to their no good tricks again. We have to stop them no matter what.
?: Bravo. Bravo.
They both looked up to see Dracula clapping his hands slowly.
Dracula: Well done on defeating that weakling. I must say you two make a good team.
Pac-Man: Dracula!
Dracula: That is correct. And this...
He held up his cannon.
Dracula:...is the Dark Cannon. Now one of you will come to me.
He looks at the screen, which show Pac-Man.
Dracula: Ooohhh...You look strong. Very strong. Very well. Come with me!
He fires a black arrow, but Pac-Man leaps over it.
Pac-Man: Man, that was close! What was that for?
Dracula:(Chuckles)You may have dodged this one, but the next arrow will turn you into a trophy. Now hold still!
He fires four more, but Pac-Man dodges them all.
Pac-Man: Forget it! I am not your trophy!
Dracula: Tch! Fine!
He points the gun at Klonoa.
Dracula: I'll just take him instead!
Pac-Man saw that Klonoa is in danger because he was too shocked to move. As Dracula fires his arrow...
Pac-Man: LOOK OUT, KLONOA!
He pushed Klonoa out of the way. But in doing so, the arrow hits Pac-Man instead.
Klonoa: PAC-MAN!
He saw his friend fall to the ground as a trophy. Dracula jumps down and laughs evilly
Dracula: I knew he would do that. Just like a hero.
Knowing that he would be next, Klonoa decided on one thing. He turns around and ran off. It begins to rain. Dracula held up Pac-Man's trophy.
Dracula: That's right, little bunny! Run away! I'll see you again!
Klonoa keeps running away from Dracula, as he keeps laughing nastily. When it stops raining, Klonoa begins to walk, feeling unhappy.
Klonoa: It's all my fault. I let him get away with Pac-Man.
Then he bumps into someone. It was a teenage bot with brown hair, wearing an orange bandana, yellow jacket over his blue tunic, gray pants, and black boots. He is the Dragon Quest 8 Hero from the Kingdom of Trodain.
Klonoa: Sorry. I wasn't paying attention.
Hero 8: Oh, it's you, Klonoa. If you're looking for a way out, we have to get past them.
He was pointing to the Heartless, who got in the way.
Klonoa: Oh no! Now we have to fight more of them?
But Hero 8 comforts him.
Hero 8: Don't worry. I'll deal with them.
He pulls out a red katana called the Dragovian King Sword and waves his hand to summon a blue slime creature with eyes and a mouth called a Slime.
Hero 8: Slime, let's take out those Heartless and get outta here!
The first group of Heartless they fought are the Shadow Heartless, Soldier Heartless, and Rapid Thrusters. Hero 8 slashes his Dragovian King Sword at the Shadow and Soldier Heartless, while Slime uses Sizzle to shoot fireballs at the Rapid Thrusters. They took out the Heartless and proceed to the next area, where they are attacked by white ghost-like Heartless wearing red shirts called Grand Ghosts.
Hero 8: I heard those Heartless are called Grand Ghosts. Be very careful with them. They can drain your energy.
One of the Grand Ghosts grab Hero 8 and drains some of his energy. Klonoa uses his Wind Sword to slash the Grand Ghosts, taking them out. When Klonoa and Hero 8 reaches the next area, they got ambushed by more Shadow Heartless, Soldier Heartless, and Grand Ghosts. Klonoa uses Wind Bullet to fire energy spheres from his Wind Ring at the Shadow and Soldier Heartless, while Hero 8 uses Kasizzle to throw fireballs at the Grand Ghosts. They took out the Heartless and proceed to a circus tent.
Klonoa: We should go into Momett's House. It should be alot safer there.
They went inside Momett's House and went to the Chamber of Fun. When they reached a pool with a platform in the middle, they were ambushed by black ball-like Heartless called Darkballs.
Hero 8: I thought you said we would be safer in here.
Klonoa: Well, maybe we'll encounter some Heartless after all.
The Darkballs bite at Klonoa and Hero 8, but they easily dodged their attacks. Slime uses Mega Magic to create a magical explosion to take out all the Darkballs. Klonoa and Hero 8 proceeds to the next area, where a Dark Portal appears with the Yellow Operas and Darkballs coming out. Klonoa uses his Wind Boomerang to throw a three-point shuriken at the Yellow Operas, while Hero 8 uses Kazapple to fire lightning from his sword at the Darkballs. After taking out all the Heartless, Slime uses Sizzle to destroy the Dark Portal. Klonoa and Hero 8 then climb up the ladder and left Momett's House.
Hero 8: We're almost outta here. We just need to fight off a few more Heartless.
They jumped on some springs that bounced them on on top of a buildings, where they got attacked by Soldier Heartless and Large Bodies. Klonoa uses his Wind Balls to fire spiked balls at the Large Soldiers, while Hero 8 uses Flame Slash to do a flaming slash with his sword at the Soldier Heartless. They took out the Heartless and jump over a series of wooden platforms, where they fought off some Heat Sabers and Grand Ghosts. Klonoa fires his Wind Bullets at the Grand Ghosts, while Hero 8 uses Kacrackle to fire ice balls at the Heat Sabers. They took out the Heartless and proceed to the last wooden platform, where they were ambushed by more Soldier Heartless, Heat Sabers, and Large Bodies.
Klonoa: Oh come on! How many more Heartless are we gonna fight?
Hero 8: Relax. Just take them out and we're outta here.
Slime uses Mega Magic to take out all the Heartless. Klonoa and Hero Eight jumps down the wooden platform and made it through Joilant Fun Park.
Hero 8: Now we can leave this place.
Hero 8 waves his hand to call back Slime.
Hero 8: Thanks for helping me out, Klonoa. See ya later.
And he walks off. Klonoa remembers Pac-Man's sacrifice and he ran to Hero 8.
Klonoa: Wait! I'm coming with you!
Hero 8: Huh? Why?
Klonoa: My friend Pac-Man is kidnapped by Dracula.
Hero 8: Dracula, huh? I ran into him not long ago.
Klonoa: You did?
Hero 8: Yes. I was saved from him by Chrono.
In a flashback, Hero 8 was fighting Dracula.
Hero 8: I was scared when Dracula appears with that gun.
Hero 8 was sitting on the ground in fear, as Dracula aims his cannon at him.
Hero 8: Then Chrono appears.
A teenage boy with red spiky hair, wears a white headband, light blue tunic, light green pants, and brown boots appeared. He is Chrono from the Kingdom of Guardia.
Chrono: Sorry, but you're not taking him!
Dracula: Fine. I'll take you instead.
Hero 8: No, Chrono!
Chrono smiles at Hero 8.
Chrono: Don't worry. Find my friends, Simon Belmont and Lloyd Irving. They will help you. See ya later, Hero 8.
Dracula shot the arrow into Chrono. Chrono was turned into a trophy. Hero 8 ran away, as Dracula laughs evilly, holding Chrono's trophy in the air. The flashback ends.
Hero 8: And he sacrificed himself for me. OK, Klonoa. We'll find Pac-Man and maybe Chrono. By the way, I need to ask you a favor.
Klonoa smiles, as he joins Hero 8 and left Joilant Fun Park.
That's it for chapter 5. Like before, the flashback was an added scene inspired by Super Saiyan Crash. Next time, we will be introduced to Simon Belmont, Zero, and Lloyd Irving.
