Chapter 2: A Legacy to Hold Up
It has been a few days since Naruto befriended the kyubi. Naruto was walking around town and the glares had a new meaning. The blonde went into a store that was willing to let him buy from them for average prices. The kyubi suggested Naruto buy some vegetables because he couldn't live off of ramen, Right?
Naruto pouted but agreed. Naruto had another question for the furball in his gut (flashback). "Hey, Kurama did you know my parents you did attack the village not willingly," Naruto asked the fox. "I knew them, and your mother was my previous jinchuriki. Your father was a great man, he fought me to a standstill. And if your human brain couldn't figure out who your father was. He was the fourth Hokage and your mother was Kushina Uzumaki."
"What!" The young blonde yelled in the mindscape and made Kurama almost deaf. "Kit, I'm half deaf from your mom don't make me fully deaf you should know my ears are sensitive. But with you knowing your heritage you know what you going to do," the kyubi asked, "I'm going to train, I have a legacy to fulfill." Naruto replied to the fox. the kyubi smirked and said, "I will help you fulfill it."
Naruto looked around his mindscape and was about to ask if he can change it but common sense made him change it on his own. A forest lavished the land and a creek streamed down the middle. A mountain top cascaded in the background and the many small animals filled the forest. "Oh, so you decide to change your mindscape, this is nice, thanks," Kurama said. Naruto nodded and exited his mindscape.
Naruto went into a store, Hira's Grocery the sign said. The owner of the store was in debt with both his parent due to him getting saved by both Minato and Kushina during the third war. He never repaid them but he thought that he should help the little blonde legacy. He grabs some bok choy and some spring onions. He also grabbed some fruits like apples and grapes. Naruto went to the counter with his items and was charged 20 Ryo and left for his apartment.
Naruto saw the glare and ignored it but glass bottles and stones were also pelted at our young blonde on his way back to his home. Naruto arrived and started to make dinner. After he got to his apartment he learn how to cook after Hiruzen drop some cookbooks at his request. He made some leftover chicken with scallions. he keep the bok choy for later and after that, he took a shower and went to bed.
The next day he was woken by Kurama after agreeing to train under his tutelage. Naruto checked the calendar October 15 it read and the blond got ready for training. The training was harsh. Kurama was a slave driver and made him run 15 laps around the village. That was followed by 100 push-ups, sit-ups, a 10-minute plank, and then stretches. For Naruto, this was the regimen until November 1st the day that Jiji visits him. Naruto was now 3 11 and was 58 pounds. Naruto has gone through a growth spurt and He was happy that he was taller.
The old man walked into Naruto's apartment. He looked at Naruto and saw that he has grown and had built some muscle and also a few inches in height. "Naruto I see you have built some muscle have you been training?" the old Hokage grew fond of the young blonde and was smiling at him. Naruto nodded but the next thing that came out of his mouth shocked Sarutobi into silence. "Jiji why did you hide the secret of the kyubi and also can I get my inheritance my father was Minato Namikaze, right?"
A moment of silence followed the bomb the young blonde dropped. "N-naruto how do you know about those two things." The Hokage asked, whoever told him will be punished greatly Hiruzen thought. "Kurama help please I'm in a corner," Naruto asked the fox. Kurama laughed and shook his head. "the kyubi told me." Naruto said and Hiruzen visibly tensed.
"The kyubi, you can't trust him he attack our village." Hiruzen raised his voice at Naruto. "Not on purpose but because one Madara Uchiha had a fun idea of controlling him." Hiruzen was shocked all suspicion was true as the kyubi just told Naruto which informed him. Hiruzen nodded and said, "Did you befriend the kyubi." Naruto nodded and said, "Can I get a training ground so I can train? I have a legacy to keep up and keep this a secret I don't want to be a pampered prince. Hiruzen stood there contemplating and thought this boy is going places.
Hiruzen nodded and shunshined to his office and back with a picture of Minato and a scroll of all of Minato's prized techniques. Naruto had stars in his eyes and took them with tears in his eyes. "Thank you and can you give me a training ground to train at." Naruto asked and Hiruzen nodded "Training ground 27."
The next day Naruto woke up and headed to the training ground that Jiji gave him. Naruto did his daily route around the village and did his warm-ups. It was about noon and he arrived at training ground 27. "Naruto since you're here let's start with some chakra control," the fox said in Naruto's belly. "Chakra control what will that do," Naruto asked the fox. " Without good chakra control, you won't be able to do ninjutsu past the basic E-rank jutsu." The fox explain and Naruto nodded.
"What exercise should we start with," Naruto asked. "Grab a leaf and try to stick it to your body using chakra," the fox replied and Naruto did what was asked. He grab a leaf channeled his chakra and put the leaf on his arm. The leaf flew off with a gust of wind and Kurama told him to channel less chakra. Naruto did this for about five hours before he lost interest. He had got a leaf to stick onto his arm but it fell off after 10 seconds.
Naruto did his warm-up for the morning after his leaf sticking training and went home to eat. the next day it was like a repeat of the last one but Naruto got the leaf to stick on for an hour which Kurama said was good enough. "Ok, Naruto, since you can stick a leaf on your arm, try sticking two and once you can get five we will move on," Kurama told Naruto and the blond did what he asked for but realized that this was much harder. He got the first leaf to stick but when the second one was placed on, both leaves fell off. By end of the day, Naruto got two leaves to stick to his arm and Naruto went to bed.
By the next week, Naruto could stick the five-leaf onto his arm. His physical training has also gone up and he ran 30 laps around the leaf, 100 squats, 200 punches, 200 kicks, 100 finger push-ups, and a 15-minute walk on his hands. After the first chakra control exercise, he got onto the tree-climbing exercise. "Naruto good job you finish the first exercise, and now tree climbing, channel chakra into your feet and use it to walk up a tree," Kurama told Naruto and the blonde went at it.
A month has passed and Naruto has finished the tree walking exercise and also the water walking exercise his workout has doubled and he is now learning the substitution. He did a few hand signs and try to substitute with a log. A log appeared where Naruto was standing and he was standing where the log was. "I did it," Naruto said while panting. "Nice I believe that the clone jutsu would be hard for you to learn because you have too much chakra so I am going to teach you the shadow clone," Kurama told the blonde and he nodded.
"To perform the shadow clone split your chakra into two and form it into a clone of you that can do anything that you can do and you also get all of its memories to help with training." The kyubi explain the technique and Naruto followed the instruction. This was one of the easier jutsu for Naruto to learn because of its high chakra usage and Naruto mastered it in an hour.
After a month of training, Naruto finish the three academy jutsu and was working on a wind jutsu. His taijutsu style was his own creation that used the body's pressure point and speed. (Flashback) Naruto was walking down the village when he went past a certain shop, Higurashi Weapon Shop. "Naruto you should go into that store just to see the equipment it is high quality and durable," Kurama said and Naruto walked into the store. Tashi Higurashi greeted Naruto and a young female that was the same age may be older than him.
"Hi, I am Tenten and this is my father Tashi Higurashi," The young girl introduced the father and daughter duo. "Naruto since you finished the basic let's get to taijutsu and speed weight would help you build muscle and speed." The fox told its container and Naruto asked. "Hello the two of you, I was here to see if I can find some training weights." Tashi nodded and went behind the counter and pulled a box of training weights.
"So, do you want to buy the adjustable type or the stander type?" Tashi asked the blonde "I would like the one you can change," Naruto asked the man behind the counter. He nodded and pulled out a set of weights the same set that Lee would use. "Also can I have a piece of chakra paper I want to test my element," Naruto asked the owner and he gave it to him for free. "That will be 120 Ryo" Tashi told the blonde and Naruto pulled out Gama-chan and gave 120 Ryo to the owner.
Naruto left the store with arm and leg weights. He left for the training ground that Jiji was kind enough to give him. The training ground had a lake and a forest to the left of it. In the middle were three training posts and a few shurikens were on the ground from spars.
"Naruto at the shop you got chakra paper and all you need to do is to channel chakra into it and it will show your element," Kurama said. Naruto did what the fox asked and the paper split in half and both sides crinkled. "Wind and lighting it's rare to have two but it is workable," Kurama told the blonde and Naruto nodded taking the information like a sponge.
Naruto got to work and he made his style in taijutsu. The blonde was also learning wind style great breakthrough. (flashback end)
Naruto named the style he used flying fist as it had many acrobatic movements that made the user look like they are gliding in the air. Naruto's wind affinity made this style even more efficient and he wanted to learn more jutsu and improve overall. Kurama taught him wind-style gale palm. The wind gathers on your palms and is shot forward, lighting release thunderbolt a thunderbolt shot toward the adversary, and lighting style electromagnetic murder a widespread attack that shocks enemy's in its range.
Naruto has also been training his speed putting it on par with most chunin. His taijutsu is also mid-chunin level and he is a level two seal master. It was early March and Naruto knew the Academy started in June and end in February.
Rock Lee was doing laps around the village when he was treated by our fellow blonde. "Oh hello, are you doing some laps around the village," Naruto asked this kid with the bushiest eyebrows and roundest eyes he has ever seen. Lee nodded and said "My name is Rock Lee what is yours," "My name is Naruto Uzumaki." Both were on their run when Naruto cut it short by saying "Sorry Lee I have to go." He sped off leaving Lee in the dust. So fast Naruto trains a lot and if he can I can too he is a true believer in hard work.
Naruto finished his laps and went on his daily routine. By the time the Academy started Naruto would be solid chunin level. Kurama told Naruto to hide his skill which he agree upon. During the last three months, Naruto was only focused on fuinjutsu he use shadow clones and he grew to a level 4 seal master. His father was the highest level seal master at level 10 and he hopes to follow in his footsteps.
Naruto woke up around seven the Academy didn't start until eight. He got himself dressed and had a clone make his breakfast. Naruto was 4 3 and he wore a white tee shirt with the Konoha symbol on the front. Black shinobi pants and sandals Naruto walked out of his apartment.
Naruto was signed into the Academy by Hokage Jiji. He roof hop to the academy and arrived at 7:45. He walk into the classroom that was told to go to and took a seat in the back. He didn't want to raise suspicion in himself and he took that as the right course of action.
Class started and Naruto got a look at his classmates he saw 21 civilians not counting himself as one. He could give two shits about the civilians knowing their parents will mimic their actions but the clan heir and heiress in the Hyuga and Yamanaka's case interested him. They were prized clans and he thought that they had the most potential.
His sensei Iruka Umino a chunin with a scar on his nose and his hair was styled in a spiky ponytail much like a Nara. He welcomed the class and gave off a calming aura. "Hello students this is the academy and my name is Iruka Umino." "Hello Iruka sensei," the class exclaimed, and the chunin chuckled. "Let's start with introductions," The chunin's voice boomed across the classroom and it went silent.
"Now let us begin," Iruka said Naruto couldn't care less about the civilian so he only listened if a clan heir or heiress was talking. Shino was first and all he said was that he liked bugs and his name. Choji was next and he said he loves food and doesn't like hurting others. Hinata was super shy and that was it. Kiba was next and he was loud and brash and liked dogs. Shikamaru was next he didn't introduce himself as he claimed it would be too troublesome. Sasuke was arrogant and was a stander Uchiha. Naruto was next he said that he likes to train and dislikes people who can't tell the difference between a seal and the kunai inside it. Ino was next and she liked flowers and that was it.
After the introductions, it was about lunchtime and then a lecture on how the academy worked, and then they were dismissed. Naruto went home to see that his shadow clone had finished a new seal. The seal that can hold chakra nature works as one of the clones seal some wind chakra into the seal. once he release the seal a gust of wind was sent from the seal's direction.
Naruto, happy with the seal he just made decided that he was going to do some extra training. He arrived at the training ground he always goes to and was treated with Sasuke's older brother Itachi. Itachi was there and he was training. "Hello," the blonde greeted and Itachi waved back. Something troubles him I should ask what's wrong. Naruto walked up to Itachi and asked "What troubles you Itachi san."
"Naruto Kun, I have been tasked with a mission that I don't want to do but force to, and also take care of Sasuke," Itachi replied not giving too much away. Naruto nodded and walked away thinking it best if Itachi was alone for a bit. Naruto arrived at his apartment for the second time this day and it was getting late so he made dinner took a shower and went to bed. He pondered on the words that Itachi said and after a little while went to sleep.
Naruto woke up and headed to the academy. He saw his peers and took a seat. After everyone walked in and Iruka finished attendance then started a lecture. After one hour the scarred-nosed chunin finished and they headed outside. Iruka wanted to do a pretest to see what he has to focus on. They started with shuriken and kunai throwing. Most of the clan heirs and heiress got around 2 to three on both kunai and shuriken out of the 5 they were given. Sasuke got a four on shuriken and a five on kunai this made others jealous. Oh No here comes the fangirls. (Squealing animes girl are in my head while writing this)
Naruto knew that he had to mask his skills and only got one of each on the board like many of the other civilians. After that, it came to taijutsu. Naruto fought like a street brawler throwing punches and leaving many openings that others exploited. Naruto was proficient in his style but hid it. he has grouped once again with the civilian bunch. Next was the academic exam where it was all about book smarts and the know about shinobi arts. Naruto answered only 2 out of the 10 correctly and that was the same as most of them civilians. The clan heirs got around 5 to 7 correct because of prior training.
After that class was dismissed and Naruto went back home. For Sasuke it was different, he was walking home when he felt that the Uchiha distinct was way too silent. Sasuke turned the corner to see the dead bodies of his aunts and uncles. What happened here wait are mom and dad alright? Sasuke rushed home to see Itachi his brother standing over his parent's dead bodies. "Mom, d-dad, Itachi why, why did you kill all of them!" Sasuke yelled tears falling from his eye as a one-tomoe Sharingan appeared in place of his black eyes.
"Foolish little brother, I killed them to test my power," Itachi said with malice. "I AM GANNA KI-," Sasuke yelled but was cut off as a kunai flew past his head nicking his shirt. "I was going to kill you but your weak you wouldn't even be worth killing, once you get the same eyes as I, hate me curse me, curse me until you have enough hatred that you could kill me," Itachi stated as he got out of the house and what Sasuke saw shocked him Itachi was crying before he passed out. He was crying which means he regret it but if he was testing his strength then he wouldn't regret it so his motives were different. Sasuke thought before passing out in front of his front porch.
Sasuke woke up and started digging through the plan of the Uchiha clan for the past few years. He was shocked they had planned a coup. Sasuke was a shame for a clan that was so high and mighty and caught up in their greed. All the arguments that Itachi had with dad made sense. These thoughts plague Sasuke's mind for the rest of the day. Itachi truly loved me even though our clan was going to plan a coup he kept me alive as he couldn't kill me. He took the mantle of betrayer and killer of the Uchiha clan, he left most likely spying.
Sasuke felt like an unbearable weight was lifted, his hate toward Itachi gone filled with the respect you can only give to a kage you serve under. Naruto went to the funeral that followed the massacre and Itachi's word came to mind, Naruto kun, I have been tasked with a mission that I don't want to do but force to do it and also take care of Sasuke. Those words play through his mind before he and Kurama agree that they were planning a coup. The Uchiha were pushed to the village their connection to the village was very weak and edgy.
Naruto was surprised when he walked into the academy and saw that Sasuke wasn't the broody and emo that he expected he was himself but less arrogant. He walk to Sasuke and Sasuke looked up at the blonde. Naruto sat down and said "do you know the truth ab-," he was cut off "yes," Sasuke replied. "Before Itachi killed your clan I talked to him, he told me to take care of you because out of anyone I have felt the most hatred from others. I was called a demon because of the thing sealed into me the nine tails I am telling you this as people will make you above don't get arrogant and pledge your life to the village. If they pamper you and say that you are so strong and you are the last lasting Uchiha loyal to the village it is patronizing Itachi sacrifice. That only happens when you fall into the pampering," Naruto's mini-lecture got to Sasuke and Naruto saw it in his eyes he was grateful. "Thanks," Sasuke replied. Naruto nodded and class started.
(time skip 2 years)
Naruto is now 8, he has trained in his father's technique and finished the Rasengan. Naruto wasn't an avid fan of the academy class so a shadow clone took his place. Naruto built close bonds with Sasuke and he will sometimes train with our blonde. Training ground 27 Naruto was training with a shadow clone. He had made a seal that a clone will only dispel if dealt a lethal blow. The two were exchanging blow for blow and Naruto brought out a kunai and the clone did the same. The battle was one for a good five hours before Naruto dispelled the clone and went home.
Sasuke look at Naruto from afar and he was surprised, Naruto was going easy on him because if he went all out he wouldn't have a chance. He jump to the clearing where the blonde was and started to train himself. He doubled his efforts with one goal in mind, to catch up with Naruto. Naruto arrive at his apartment and took a shower and made dinner. He went to sleep after and Naruto now is a level 7 seal master.
Over this year Naruto has expanded his arsenal of jutsu. He has lighting style electromagnetic murder, wind style great breakthrough, and wind style drilling air bullet. Naruto has also mastered his taijutsu stance to the point he could teach it and his genjutsu is still nonexistent. Naruto can control up to 3 tails of the Kyubi chakra. He had made many seals like multiplying explosive tags and proximity explosive tags. These seals have been offered to the Hokage and he had recommended the blond to start selling them.
Naruto had made many friends among his peers. Choji and Shikamaru were some of the first and he later found that Shino was a good person once you get to know him. Sasuke has also gotten stronger. He has the two tomoe Sharingan and increases his arsenal of jutsu as well. Sasuke is just a little weaker than our blonde and he has learned fire style dragon fire bullet and lighting style thunderbolt. He had weights that were of the same variety as the blondes'. Naruto's weights now weigh 50 on each leg and 35 on each arm. Sasuke weights were only 25 on legs and 15 on arms. When Sasuke first put the weights on he felt like he had a backpack full of lead on him. He acclimated and was slowly working up his speed.
One day Naruto was at the training ground where Sasuke was training and Sasuke broke the ice by asking Naruto to fight him. Naruto smirked and they started to spar. Sasuke had his two tomoe Sharingan and was in the interceptor fist stance and Naruto was in his flying fist stance and they both charged at each other. Sasuke threw a punch that Naruto caught with ease and left him open for attack. He retaliated with a leg sweep followed by a spin kick. Sasuke flew out of Naruto's reach and made a set of hand signs and shot a fireball at the blonde jinchuriki. Naruto dodged the fireball and rushed at Sasuke with a kunai.
He threw the kunai and made some hand signs "kunai shadow clone jutsu." Naruto whispered and then made another set of hand signs and yelled "wind style great breakthrough." Suddenly dozens of kunai shot toward Sasuke and the duck-haired boy shunshined out of the attack. "lighting style lighting bolt," Sasuke yell as a bolt of electricity flew at Naruto it crackled and Naruto got a kunai and sharpened it with wind chakra slicing the blot in half. Sasuke rushed at Naruto and threw a punch. Naruto dodge the punch and jumped.
He did a spin kick into the back of Sasuke's head and made him tumble and smash against a tree. He got up and his lip was busted. With blood dripping he rushed at the blonde, Naruto threw a kick and Sasuke blocked it throwing a flurry of punches leaving him open Naruto took the chance to counter but was blocked. His punch didn't connect with Sasuke's side but instead his arm. Naruto jumped back and got a kunai out he infused lightning chakra into the blade and rushed at Sasuke. Sasuke followed the blonde and repeated his action. They clash in the middle with sparks of electricity flying everywhere.
They exchange blows with Sasuke getting the upper hand and getting Naruto on the ground kunai on his neck. "I win you lo-," Sasuke said but was cut off when the clone poofed. What Sasuke mentally cursed and looked around him up, down, where is he the raven hair boy thought. "below," Naruto whispered but it was too late and Sasuke was buried neck deep. "Wrong, I win, you lose," Naruto said chuckling. Sasuke pouted acting like a spoiled brat and got out of the hole with the help of the blonde.
Three months have passed and Sasuke had caught up with Naruto due to the Sharingan and now shadow clone. Both Naruto and Sasuke have been looking at other people spar and say they were terrified not at abilities but at the way one particular jonin acted. "So if it isn't my eternal rival of youth!" One of the jonin yelled and was spewed full of youth. He wore green spandex with the busiest eyebrow in the world.
Naruto looked a Sasuke and he look back. This is a jonin your joking right please say this is an elaborate genjutsu, please both the boys begged in their minds. "Kit it isn't a genjutsu if it was I would be able to dispel it." The Kyubi told the blond and covered his eyes. Naruto was crying anime tears and Sasuke was just sick.
"To celebrate our 80th challenge how about a good old spar." The bushy-browed jonin shouted out. "Yes, we should, and did you say something Gai ." The silver-haired jonin replied. The green spandex-wearing jonin now known as Gai yell back in an all youthful tone "Dam you Kakashi and your hip ways!" Kakashi had a stander jonin attire and his hair was defying gravity. Both boys sweatdropped and continued to watch.
A few moments passed and then both jonin got into their stances. A breeze flew by and the temperature dropped by a few degrees. A leaf fell to the ground of the open field signaling the start of the fight both rushed at each other sending a high kick at each other's head. The attack canceled out and Kakashi threw a punch that Gai blocked. The spandex-wearing man retaliated with a leg sweep. Kakashi jumped over the attack and both jumped back. Gai got back up first but waited for Kakashi.
Sasuke activated his two tomoe Sharingan and observed the battle. He could barely see them and their blows held plenty of power. Naruto was on the same train of thought as the battle continued. Kakashi did a set of seals and yelled "wind style great breakthrough." Gai uses chakra to not get blown away from the powerful gust of wind. Gai rushed at the copy nin and did a flurry of punches that made the jonin jump back.
Kakashi rushed at Gai and jumped into the air. Gai looks up at Kakashi when he notices a presence beneath him. Gai jumped and Kakashi's clone exploded in lighting. This shocked the green spandex wearing jonin. Gai landed and looked at Kakashi. "That was most unyouthful but it was a well-thought strategy." Gai told his eternal rival and looked at him " The eight inner gates, the gate of opening, the gate of healing, the gate of life, open." Gai yelled, his face turned red and a green aura surrounded the bushy-browed jonin. Kakashi saw this as a queue and pulled up his headband the Sharingan.
Both jonin looked at each other and charged Kakashi threw a punch Gai blocked and sent a kick in Kakashi's direction which he blocked. The spandex-wearing jonin did an ax kick. This made Kakashi use both arms to block. The copy nin was sent backward and Gai landed. Kakashi rushed at Gai and jumped "Dynamic entry." the jonin yelled and Gai blocked with both arms and skited backward. He jumped and opened the fourth, fifth, and sixth gates. "Asakujaku" Gai yelled and dozens of fireballs were lanch at his rival. "Earth-style Mud Wall," Kakashi yelled back and a 20 feet mud wall emerged from the ground.
The fireballs stopped and the wall was scorched. Naruto was very impressed and Sasuke was in aw. he had been able to copy both techniques Kakashi used. Naruto was amazed that Gai made fireballs with only friction and both look back at the battle. Kakashi made three hand signs Ox, Rabbit, Monkey "Chidori!" Kakashi yelled out and ran at Gai. Gai shouted out " Gate of shock open!"
"Hiradora," Gai shouted and a white tiger was sent at Kakashi both attacks clashed and both users flew backward. strong wind spewed everywhere like a dam just open and water is rushing out. Gai and Kakashi panted and looked at each other and walk up to each other panting. They made the seal of reconciliation.
Both boys look at each other and nodded. Sasuke knew that Naruto was a sucker for new jutsu and that they would do this much more often. Sasuke had gotten a powerful lighting jutsu and Naruto saw how powerful jonins going all out are.
The next day Sasuke walked up to Naruto and began to show him the jutsu that he had copied. Sasuke activated the Chidori only to fall to his knee after using the jutsu for one second. Although Sasuke had above-average chakra reserves for the average kid his age. Sasuke fell to the ground and was caught by Naruto.
"Easy there, an A-rank Jutsu like that takes huge amounts of chakra, yes I have an A-rank but I am an Uzumaki my clan's chunin have kage level reserves," Naruto told Sasuke and he nodded. Hinata was watching from afar when she was noticed. "Sasuke, did you notice another chakra around us." Naruto put the question up in the air and Sasuke activated his Sharingan. He notice a figure in the woods and ran to see what it was.
Sasuke was faster than the shy Hyuga and caught up to her and saw that it was Hinata. "Hinata what are you doing at this training ground if you want to join just come and ask." Hinata blushed at Sasuke's suggestion and nodded as she wanted to get closer to her crush. Sasuke read her mind and thought man Naruto is lucky only one fangirl. I would be jumping for joy at that.
Hinata walked with Sasuke and was met by Naruto. She blushes bright red and then looks as pale as a sheep. Naruto knew that Hinata had a crush on him but this is outrageous. Sasuke chuckled and walked over to Naruto. "She is going to be training with us have a nice date, I mean day." Sasuke mocked Naruto which made the blonde laugh.
