Ali woke up surrounded by nothing. There was no light, and she couldn't feel anything around herself. Her last memory was going to sleep in her room. Clearly, she wasn't in her room anymore. Her heart began to race, and her breathing became short shallow breaths. Before she could panic for too long, she was swept up in a wave of calm. Her heart rate and breathing were instantly slowed and no matter how she tried she couldn't breathe faster or slower.

"Peace my child." A feminine voice rang through the darkness. "There is nothing to fear. You are safe."

"Whose there? Where am I?"

"My name is Gaea, and you are in the Bleed, the space between universes."

"Wait, Gaea as in the goddess?" She questioned. "What do you want with me, assuming this is real, and I am not dreaming."

She laughed. "You are not dreaming. I am indeed the earth goddess Gaea, and you my dear are unfortunately dead."

"I'm dead?" She exclaimed in shock. "How did I die, the last thing I remember is falling asleep?"

"Indeed. You were asleep when that version of Earth was annihilated. All my children in that universe were gone. I was only able to save a few of them including you. I gave them all a choice and you are the last to choose."

"What was the choice?"

"There are two options for you." She explained. "Most of those I saved chose to move on and join the rest of their families wherever they may be. You will dissolve in the Bleed and where you go from there is unknown to me. The other option is to be changed and placed into another universe to live out the remainder of your life in that universe."

"Wait most people choose not to be reborn?"

"Yes, the draw of family is quite difficult to resist." The voice turned melancholy. "After you make your choice, I will be gone as without the earth I cannot exist."

Ali thought about it for a moment before she decided.

"I have always wanted a life of adventure, and I can always join my family later when I die in the new universe."

"Very well." Gaea responded. "Now I must ask you a few questions. These questions will affect how you are changed when you are integrated into your new universe."

"Can I not just go as I am?"

"No, a lot of universes contain beings of great power who would attack you or consider you a threat to themselves. Because I am sending you to another universe you will have a touch of my divinity on you."

"So, what is the first question then?"

"Who is your favorite superhero?"

"Wait what? How is that relevant?" she asked confused.

"First because a version of you already exists in the world you are going to, so your essence must be fundamentally changed. You will also recognize the universe when you arrive and will understand these first two questions better then. Again, who is your favorite superhero?"

"I originally would have said wonder woman, but this situation made me reconsider. Supergirl and Power girl are my favorites. They were both women who grew up somewhere else and were forced to abandon their homes but didn't let that stop them from persevering."

"An interesting choice," Gaea responded with a happy tone. "Normally I would tell you to pick one, but because only you selected rebirth then ill let it slide. Now who was your favorite villain?"

"That is an easy one, Doctor Victor Von Doom. A king and a genius whose only real issue is his pride." She answered quickly, not pausing to even thing about it. "I always thought he was kind of misunderstood and if her could have let go of his pride I think he could have been an even better man."

"That is indeed an interesting take, and in many universes where there isn't a reed Richards, he often does become a world renown hero. These are your choices."

Three people appear in the void. There are two women and one man all of whom are naked. The first woman was Kara Zor-El, a young blonde woman with long blonde hair and vibrant blue eyes. The next was Kara Zor-L an alternate universe version of Kara who arrived much earlier and grew up int a beautiful woman. Her blonde hair only came to her shoulders, but her eyes were the same. The man was the tallest of the bunch almost a full head taller than the shorter Kara. He was bald and the left side of his face was covered in burn. He also had brown eyes and many scars throughout his body.

"These are the heroes and villains you have chosen." Gaea began. "I will combine their bodies, memories, abilities and personalities into one gestalt being, and you will inhabit that body with your memories all interfaced together."

"What about them?" Ali asked hesitantly. "You aren't just kidnapping these people and erasing them, right?"

"No, my child." She answered soothingly. "They are copies of the originals without their souls. It will be your soul that gives them purpose and true life. Now watch as this is always my favorite part."

I thought she said she hadn't don't this before. Ali thought to herself.

All three bodies transformed into small balls of different colored energy. Zor-El's was blue, Zor-L's was red and Doom's was green. The orbs fused into one slightly larger orb and then coalesced into a brand-new body.

The new body seemed to be around 5'10", midway between Doom's height and Kara Zor-El's height. The body was also female, and more muscled than the two Karas had been. The new body also had several scars, including the facial scar on her left side; however, it was not at prominent as Doom's was. Her hair and eyes were the largest differences with the hair being a deep ebony black and the eyes being a vibrant emerald green.

"Where did the black hair and green eyes come from?"

"Well, you are the last of my children in this universe. I wanted to give you something from me, so your hair and eyes match mine."

"Oh. I am honored." She said lamely.

"I am proud of you Ali. I hope your next life is filled with wonder and joy." She choked out.

Ali felt a small pressure on her forehead like when her mother kissed her goodbye when she went to college. Suddenly she could feel again and when she looked around, she could see herself in her new body. There was a blinding flash of light, and she was cold and falling. The world was filled with tiny pins of light and a much larger blue and green something. As she fell, the cold began to fade, and soon was replaced by scorching heat. She screamed before the feel of her flesh burning was too much and she lost consciousness.

Nick fury stalked into the room where several of his agents were waiting. He made his way over to the head of the table and sat down, turning his one-eyed gaze onto his agents.

"Report." He demanded looking at Maria Hill, his second in command.

"Sir." She nodded gesturing with the remote to a screen on the wall. "On June 21st at 1200 hours an anomaly was detected in earth's upper atmosphere."

An image appeared on the screen of what appeared to be a blast of rainbow light in the atmosphere.

"Readings taken from the anomaly indicate an event like the Asgardian Bifrost." Hill continued. "However, the readings were slightly different and based off the light given off, we can that if there had been an opening site it would have been the size of the state of Rhone Island."

The image changed again to zoom in to a small white object that emerged from the Bifrost. The explanation was continued by agent Coulson, Fury's right hand man.

"NASA tracked the object as it entered earth's atmosphere. Based off satellite imaging and radar scans the object seems to be less than ten feet long and has a mass between 200 and 500 pounds." Coulson explained, moving to the next image, which showed the projected path of the object as it crashed into earth.

Fury nodded at the image. "Were we able to get there in time to investigate the object? This isn't going to turn out like the New Mexico incident, is it?"

"No sir we do not believe so." Hill clicked onto the next image, which showed the naked form of a raven-haired woman. "This woman was found in the crater; no other objects were discovered in the vicinity and no evidence of anyone else having approached the site."

Fury nodded. "Where did she land and what do we know about her?"

"Based off of what we can determine she is 5'10", 240 pounds. She has black hair and green eyes. We discovered that she has an advanced healing factor, as she was covered in burns when we arrived and by the time we had her in the Cage, almost all her injuries had healed."

"Almost all?"

"Yes sir." Maria flicked to the next image, which showed the woman in a hospital bed. "She seems to have a minor disfigurement on the left side of her face that shows no signs of healing. Attempts to take a sample of her blood have all failed, as her skin seems to be super dense and resists even the adamantium needle. We have been unable to take any samples."

"Really?" Fury asked shocked. Adamantium is nothing to sneeze at. "Has facial recognition or fingerprint scans yielded anything? Is it possible she is an Asgardian like Thor? I remember a lady Sif with ` hair who accompanied Thor on his last visit."

"Yes sir, we never received a report of Lady Sif's eye color so it is possible that it could be her, but we have no way to verify that unless something changes with her. Also, we were unable to get fingerprints as her body seems to be covered in a nonstick field. The ink doesn't stick to her fingers, and any electrodes just seem to glide around on her without attaching. We were able to get a heart rate using her finger but that is basically it."

"A force-field? Really?" Fury asked incredulously, being reminded of a certain blonde he had met when he was an agent. "I want to sign off on the more invasive tests, but do you think they will actually bear results with the knowledge that she is covered in a force-field?"

Hill and Coulson shared a glance before Coulson nodded changing the screen to the last picture which lists all the medical information they had recorded.

"We haven't discovered anything from facial recognition, but sir if I may make a suggestion?" Fury nodded and Coulson continued. "Let's assume that she is friendly and treat her similarly to our approach to the hulk. Force only, if necessary, you get more flies with honey than vinegar."

Fury thought for a moment before turning to Hill. "What's your opinion?"

"I agree with Coulson, the Hulk approach could work quite well." She answered nodding to Coulson. "I also think we should plan for if she never wakes up. We have signs she is alive, but it seems like a textbook case for a coma patient and the odds of her waking up could be slim."

"Get it done both of you." Fury commanded before getting up and leaving the room. Coulson and Hill also left, separating to go about their jobs.
