Dessert suddenly looked like a bad idea, since they'd ordered only one. They'd gotten used to splitting one, since Andy had tried hard to swear off sugar products. It was a small indulgence when shared, but they were both wondering how that was going to look given the reaction to their plate swap during dinner. With that thought, Sharon herself realised just how comfortable they had gotten together, because it hadn't even occurred to them when placing orders. The waiter approached her with red velvet tiramisu in hand, and she smiled at Andy knowingly, asking the waiter to bring a second spoon.
Provenza's head snapped up when he heard her, eyeing her with suspicion. "Your escort is off sweet stuff these days Captain, which would be why he didn't order his own dessert" he told her.
"You think so Lieutenant?" she raised her eyebrows at him.

The waiter returned with the additional spoon, and both Andrea and Gavin stopped eating, folded their arms, and directed a stare at them.
"Is synchronised staring a new Olympic event?" Sharon asked the pair with a frown.
Of course, with Gavin's über-theatrical staring talent, all attention was once again drawn in their direction.
Provenza was openly mortified when he realised they were both eating from the same glass.
"Do you ever feel like you're in a shop window?" Andy asked Sharon with a half grin.
"Tonight I do." She smiled back at him.
Andy felt the sneaky undercurrent running behind the look she'd just given him. She'd played nicely with Provenza, but he now knew the wheels were still turning, and he needed to stay on his toes.
"Something wrong Lieutenant?" she asked the older man.
"Just surprised at the lengths Flynn will go to to make a fool of himself. Doesn't eat anything sweet. At all. Ever. But when the Captain is involved... oh we're all sharing." he answered with an exaggerated eye roll.
Sharon shrugged at him, with a smile much broader than he'd ever seen before. She then directed her attention to Gavin. "Gavin, do I have something on that BELONGS to you? You're staring as though I do."
"Honey, after that windbag" he waved in the direction Jack had left earlier "I'm just glad you're sharing cooties with the dashing Lieutenant! At least he's eye candy." Gavin squealed at her.
"Shut up Gavin." was her response, as a round of laughter circled the table.

The orchestra started to play as the tables were cleared, and everyone relaxed after the meal. Guests were mingling more freely between tables, catching up with colleagues they hadn't seen in a while, and avoiding those they preferred to keep that way.
"Well..." Andy turned to Sharon and smiled "That sounds like my cue. Care to dance?" as he offered her his hand.
She took it, and the faces remaining at the table turned to watch.
"Provenza, your lovely new wife looks very much like she should be on the dance floor" Andy said to his friend as he passed.
When they reached the dance floor, Mike & Kathy had beaten them to it. Gavin was holding court at the bar where his arms were very animatedly telling a story to a captive audience.
Andy pulled Sharon into his arms comfortably. They'd danced many times before, just not in this setting, so there was no awkwardness. He always marvelled at how neatly she fit against him, and how natural it felt to hold her that way. The orchestra seemed to be stuck in a crooner's loop, which suited them just fine. The song changed as they started to play The Way You Look Tonight, and Sharon relaxed and rested her head against Andy's shoulder, breathing in his cologne and feeling perfectly at home. "You know, Andy, Provenza isn't sure what to make of us now."
He chuckled "He doesn't seem so sure of himself anymore does he?"
"You know how you said you trust me...?"
"Why do I get a distinct feeling I'm going to regret having said that Sharon?"
"I'm going to do something that will maybe surprise even you, despite how well you know me. I want you to try not to look shocked."
"What are you going to do Sharon? And when?"
"You'll see. You'll know it when it happens, don't worry. Just trust me Andy." she answered, looking up with eyes that he couldn't say no to even when he tried.
The orchestra changed seamlessly into I Get A Kick Out Of You, as Provenza finally led his wife onto the dance floor.
"You know, your ex-husband is boring holes in your back" he said pointedly to Sharon.
"Well, when you get close to him, give him a quarter."
"A quarter? Why would I give Jack Raydor a quarter?"
"So he can call someone who cares." Sharon snorted quietly as they moved away.
The tempo picked up as Mack The Knife started playing, and several couples decided to sit it out. Sharon excused herself with the pretense of using the bathroom, and promised Andy she'd meet him back at the table.

Provenza and Patrice were headed the same way, and he found himself sitting beside the old coot despite being irritated with him. "You two looked pretty damn cozy out there Flynn." Provenza couldn't help himself despite the fact that he almost certainly knew he was about to get his head chewed off.
"They look PERFECT together Louie" Patrice interjected honestly, and with the intention of breaking the tension.
Andy beamed at her. "She's pretty special" he told her.
"Seems to me she thinks you are too" Patrice added, giving her husband the eye... the one that says "DON'T".
Sharon seemed to be taking forever, and he wondered what kind of a lineup there was in the ladies' room that would be keeping her so long. Mike & Kathy, Gavin & Andrea, Steven & Natalie had all returned to their drinks at the table too.
After two or three songs had been played through, the tempo changed again as the orchestra started to play Fly Me To The Moon. This was the first time anyone had heard vocals, as a seductive woman's voice began to sing. Andy though for a split second that the voice sounded familiar, but dismissed it.

Fly me to the moon
Let me play up there with the stars

The crowd on the dance floor parted to let the woman with the microphone cross the floor.

Let me see what life is like
On a-Jupiter and Mars

At this point, all eyes turned and spotted who the sultry voice belonged to.
Sharon reached Andy and immediately took his hand.

In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling, kiss me

She leant down and did just that before continuing, through Gavin's high pitched squeal.

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, Andy, I love you

Pulling him to his feet to dance with her, she finished

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, Andy, I love... you

She was blushing furiously by the time she finished. The microphone dangling from one hand, and the other around Andy's neck, Sharon pointedly turned and locked eyes with Provenza. The man was, for a change, speechless. Patrice had tears running down her cheeks, as did Andrea. Gavin was getting up to head over, because clearly he had something to say.
The applause rang out loudly, and they were surrounded by people wanting to know why on earth they didn't know she could sing.

Sharon clung to Andy, and passed the mic off to a waiter passing by.
"Way to make your point sweetheart" he whispered. "I'm glad we had that discussion with Taylor months ago."
"There was really no way to warn you properly. I just wanted Provenza to know that he was so wrong, and I think I did it. And I do love you."
"I am still speechless. What a voice. And I do love you too."
