A Pokeball Makes All The Difference
Professor Krane smiled down at his completed invention. Five years had made all the difference and he had come a long way from the student he used to be. Blueprints and part pieces confusing him were a thing of the past now. His purify chamber was almost done and his main weapon was finally ready. The Snag Machine.
"I shouldn't be too proud. If these blueprints are ever stolen, evil doers could easily replicate the Snag Machine and Team Snagem will be born all over again. I should store them in the basement or off site. Nonetheless...it's ready. Cipher's return...we'll be ready for it."
All he needed to do was test it. The machine was flexible and designed to fit Michael's arm perfectly but it was adjustable. Still, as the best trainer in the lab, Michael was an obvious choice for helping to test it out. He sent an email to Michael's PDA and turned to Aidan. "Do we have everything ready for testing?"
"I think so. I feel like I'm forgetting something."
"Well, Michael is on his way back from picking Jovi up. You have time to figure out what's missing. I'm going to take a little walk to clear my head. I'll be back when Michael's back."
Professor Krane left the room with his head held high and a smile on his face. Aidan was left scratching his head. It seemed so obvious yet he could not figure out what he was forgetting.
Was the machine receiving power? Yes. Was it wearable? Yes, of course. Did it have a functioning solar panel for constant recharging? Yes, it was all in the plan to make use of Orre's harsh sunlight as a constant source of power.
Then just WHAT was he forgetting?
Aidan was still trying to rack his brain when Professor Krane walked back into the room and Michael quickly followed. After Krane explained what the machine was for and fitted it on Michael's arm, it was suggested to head upstairs and test the machine out on the hologram pokemon at the training simulator. Krane left the room first and Michael followed after, leaving Aidan behind.
"Wait, I remember now!"
Aidan tried to catch up to Michael but it was too late. Cipher had already stormed into the HQ and took Krane. Michael followed them outside, where Naps sent out a very aggressive Teddiursa.
"Michael! The aura reader is responding! That's a Shadow Pokemon! Hurry, throw a pokeball at it!" Krane screamed.
"But I don't have any!" Michael said in horror. The Teddiursa slammed itself harshly into his Eevee, who was already looking too tired to keep fighting.
"What?! But Aidan should have given you some!"
"He didn't! I don't have any! Eevee, try Sand Attack!" Michael was fighting a hopeless battle but maybe by lowering the accuracy of the Teddiursa, he could turn things around.
"Ha! A snag machine without pokeballs? What a laugh!" the large Cipher Peon chuckled and hurled Krane into the back hatch of the truck. The Teddiursa didn't miss his next attempt and Michael's Eevee was defeated in two hits.
From there, it wasn't long before Orre fell. Krane was so furious with Aidan for forgetting the pokeballs, he actually decided to help Cipher in his anger. Cipher quickly rose to power and created more Shadow Pokemon, which made them even richer and brought the whole Orre region under their domain. Everyone was enslaved by Cipher and forced to fight in endless pokemon battles while rich people watched and placed bets on who would win. Michael discarded the snag machine and became the most powerful trainer in the Colosseums, later taking his place next to Greevil, Ardos and Eldes as a mysterious green-clad trainer. Soon, Cipher's influence spread to other regions and it wouldn't be long before the whole world was conquered.
All because Aidan forgot to give Michael some pokeballs.
This is just a silly idea I came up with at work that made me giggle. Plus I wanted to write something for Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness. I cannot believe how expensive that game has gotten or how forgotten by time it is now. It's one of my most favorite games ever.
I hope it made you laugh, even if just a little. :D
