It'd been three years since the final battle with Naraku and three years since the Bone Eater's Well refused to send her back to her friends five hundred years in feudal Japan. With the realization that she might never time travel or even go on exciting adventures again, she dedicated the remainder of her school years studying.
No surprise, her grades improved, and she had fallen into the habit of going to bed at a reasonable hour. For the most part, she'd fallen back into her normal lifestyle more easily than she first imagined, and after three years, the past became a fleeting memory. Still, she wanted more than anything to return, but fate had a funny way of refusing that, because the only reason she had gone on those adventures was because of the Sacred Jewel.
Which, by the way, was no more. After defeating Naraku, she made a wish for it to disappear from their world forever, never to fall into the hands of evil ever again. After that, she was pulled out of the arms of her friends and placed back into the modern era.
But something happened on this particular day...
One moment she had graduated from high school, enjoyed a wonderful dinner among family, and then the next thing she knew, she was sitting in an unfamiliar setting. There was a blue sky over head, a cool breeze, and a wide stretch of ocean for miles on end.
Despite the strange glances received by others living here, no doubt because of her high school uniform, she eventually stumbled upon a wooden sign situated beneath a bridged arch way nestled against tall hills and rocks.
It read, Windfall Island.
Not only was the name unfamiliar but so were her surroundings. True to the sign's name, she really was on an island, and no matter how far she traveled through the small town, past street vendors and up multiple stairs, it was nothing but ocean.
There was a small cliff jutted off the side of the island with a lone bench and tree, and realizing it was the perfect place to figure out her situation, she sat down. What in the world was she supposed to do now?
Kagome sighed as she stared out across the sea. "Honestly... with everything I've been through, I shouldn't be surprised. But I wasn't brought here by the well this time..."
So, why was she here? Did someone summon her? Did she mistakenly enter through an invisible portal to another world? Impossible... since when were there portals inside the kitchen of her house?
Obviously, someone brought me here. Sitting here won't solve this issue, but I have no idea where to even begin... It has to be someone on this island that's responsible.
With that thought in mind, Kagome stood up and explored her surroundings. Who better to ask than the old man working the vendors? She did just that, but his response to her was anything but polite.
"What do you want? If you aren't here to buy my wares, than scram! You're hurting my business!" Said the old man.
Unfazed by his remark, Kagome moved away from the stand. The only person hurting their business is you, pal...
Blue eyes landed onto a pair of older women. Much like the other inhabitants of the island, they wore the usual medieval dresses with short sleeves. Before Kagome could walk up and inquire about this island, she overheard them gossiping about someone.
"She is so saucy, isn't she?! I can't believe she's a school teacher!"
"Rumor has it she owns mountains of tacky pendants and earrings. It's as if she loves nothing in the world more than jewelry!"
"Honestly! Who does she think she is? She ought to be more modest in her appearance! Especially in front of the children!"
Kagome sweat dropped, half debating on whether or not to interrupt them, but just then they must have sensed they weren't alone, and one look at her, immediately made her nervous. "Um... hello. Could I ask-"
"Oh, dear, oh, my! Look at her!"
The other woman gasped. "My word! To walk around half dressed is entirely indecent, young girl! Did your parents not raise you right?!"
"Young ones these days! I tell you, this world is changing! What are you looking at? Get going, you! We won't be talking to such an ill-mannered girl!"
And just like that, Kagome was once again shooed away, but as soon as she turned her back to the older woman, she caught them from her peripheral gossiping and pointing at her. Another sigh escaped her. "Geez... is there not one nice person on this island?"
Just then, a massive shadow caught her attention, and looking up, she saw an enormous bird, half the size of a plane, soaring through the sky over the island. In its talons were two young girls, screaming and thrashing about, and what followed after were the screams and hollers of the other islanders chasing after it.
Kagome gasped and chased after the group, but there was nothing she could do. The moment she arrived near the docks, the bird had already flown out of reach across the ocean. "What the heck is going on here?!"
"My precious daughter, Maggie! My sweet daughter was kidnapped! Someone, please save her!" And old beggar man with tattered clothes cried, crumbling onto the ground with tears in his eyes.
"How dare that monstrous fiend take off with my beloved Mila! I'll pay anyone an enormous sum of money to bring her back safely!" Said a well-dressed older man with red hair, a huge nose and a wispy stache.
"That bird must have flown back to Forsaken Fortress! Just like it did to all the other young girls it captured!" A woman cried.
"Suzan?! Suzan, where are you?!"
As a wale of cries reached her ears, her gaze shifting to the citizens all around her, trembling in fear, something weird happened. A strange warmth flooded her left hand, and when she glanced down, she saw a curious emblem of a golden triangle.
Seriously… what the heck is going on here?!
A/N
Expect chapters to run around 700-1000 words. I won't add Link into this story, but there will be a romantic interest soon. Kagome will journey to save the world with two other people very soon. I plan to follow the game almost to a T. I hope it sounds interesting so far.
