Mina's heart hammered and her hands shook as she entered Classroom 1-A for the first time. She'd seen this room in her parent's high school pictures many times. It felt surreal to be here. It felt surreal to be trapped three decades in the past.
Izuku Midoriya sat at his desk, scribbling in his notebook as he muttered to himself. Mina wanted to scream, "Dad!" and throw herself at him for a hug. But she had more self-control than that. She'd been preparing for this moment for a year, ever since she'd accidentally time-traveled.
"Excuse me?" her mother's voice said. "Can I get to my desk?"
Mina nearly jumped a foot in the air. "Mo—" She stopped herself in time as Ochaco Uraraka's puzzled brown eyes gazed at her. "Haha, I'm sorry, O—" She realized she hadn't yet been introduced to her mother from the future. It would look strange to know her first name. "Random stranger who I have never met before!" Mina leapt out of the way before she embarrassed herself any further.
With a puzzled look, Ochaco walked past. As Ochaco sat down at her desk, she glanced in Izuku's direction and blushed.
Did Mina dare hope that a crush had started already? Mina rather desperately needed to matchmake Izuku and Ochaco. Her parents' lovey-dovey relationship had introduced her to the concept of true love. She wanted them to find happiness together. Even more importantly, her existence was at stake.
What would happen if she created a time paradox? Mina didn't know. But she intended to follow her memories of the past as closely as possible. If she followed the same path, then it would eventually lead to the same sequence of events that had thrown her into the past. Her biological grandfather and all-around douchebag All for One had broken out of jail and built a time-travel machine. Preteen Mina had successfully gotten in his way, but she'd been stuck in the machine herself when it activated. It was vitally important that she arrange events to stop All for One again. Otherwise, the villain would conquer Japan. Mina had visited All for One in Tartarus a few times, usually after he bargained for a chance to see his granddaughter, and he'd always creeped her out. He'd tried to be kind but she'd glimpsed the possessiveness in his eyes. She'd heard horror stories from her father. She didn't want to live out her life in a bank vault, thank you very much. How would she ever find true love then?
All Might threw open the door. "I am here! To teach you heroism!"
The class gasped, most of them having never been this near to the Number One Hero. Mina smiled, for a different reason. She'd never seen her adopted grandfather this healthy. His muscular form had only been a legend to her. She liked seeing her gramps smiling.
"Today's lesson will be—" All Might looked around for a piece of chalk to write on the blackboard.
"Here you go, gramps." Mina lunged forward and handed him one.
The entire class went dead silent. Mina realized that she'd just called the Symbol of Peace an old man. Her cheeks turned pinker than her hair.
"Thank you, young Ashido," All Might said politely, not seeming upset.
Cheeks flaming, Mina slunk back to her seat. Her head smacked down on her desk. She'd already messed up! A bit of acid dripped down her forehead, eating into the desk. She dashed it off. At least the timeline wouldn't collapse because she'd accidentally insulted the Number One Hero. Now she just needed to keep a low profile until U.S.J. then make sure no one died there.
Under her desk, Mina reached down and touched the notebook hidden in her backpack. When she'd been transported back in time, she'd had one of her father's old school notebooks with her. It was risky for her to keep it, but it also had priceless information about the past. Mina needed the notebook for her plans. She did not want to rearrange the timeline, but she also had people whose lives she wanted to save. It would be a delicate tightrope.
All for One, aka Hisashi Midoriya, was in a foul mood after a fight with his wife. He'd been furious that she'd allowed Izuku to enroll in U.A. without consulting him. She'd met his rage with her own, calling him out on his years of absence from home. It wasn't fair. She didn't know that he'd barely clung to life in a coma for years after that wretched All Might ripped off his face. However, Hisashi had just enough self-awareness to realize that admitting his villainy to his wife would not help his case.
Perhaps Hisashi had been a tad too careless with his family. To fix this, he'd gone for his usual method—stealing a quirk. His new quirk allowed him to detect the general location and status of any blood relatives. With this, Hisashi would protect Izuku from his foolish heroic endeavors.
Leaning forward in his office chair, Hisashi held his hand over a map. A green dot appeared over U.A. This represented Izuku, and the green color meant his son was safe.
A second green dot appeared next to the first one.
Hisashi nearly fell out of his chair. How could this be possible? A descendant of his little brother would have been too distant a relative to show up. He had no other children, he felt certain of it. He'd been faithful to Inko during their marriage. Unless one of the teachers was related to him? Hisashi strained his memory of his pre-Inko flings. He couldn't recall ever sleeping with an insomniac or a vampire lady or a loud-mouthed blond. Besides, all the teachers at U.A. had living parents. Except for All Might. All Might was an orphan of unknown family background. Hisashi paled. No, it couldn't be. They looked nothing alike. It wasn't possible. He prayed harder than he had since he'd held his little brother's dying body in his arms.
There must be a mistake with this quirk. Hisashi did not understand how that could have happened, but he did understand that he really, really didn't want to be All Might's dad. The force of desperate denial convinced him that maybe the quirk had spontaneously failed to work. Strange things could happen as the world approached quirk singularity. What if Hisashi's love for his son was so great that it had manifested two dots? Yes, that totally made sense and he hadn't just pulled the explanation out of his ass!
Sweat dripping down his forehead, Hisashi picked up a radio and shouted, "Gigantomachia! Can you hear me?"
Gigantomachia, Hisashi's most loyal bodyguard, had the ability to sniff out anyone related to his master. Hisashi trusted Gigantomachia's nose far more than he trusted a quirk he'd only just acquired. Fortunately, U.A. had a convenient field trip planned. He would lay his terror to rest for once and for all.
Aizawa had taken Class 1-A to a forest in order to practice for search and rescue missions. He'd placed thirty dummies around the forest. The students were allowed to work together or alone. From reading her father's notebook, Mina already knew they'd be graded partly on teamwork. Izuku had left a smug note in the margin about Katsuki losing points for setting fire to a dummy.
It pleased Mina to see that Izuku, Ochaco, and Tenya had already formed a team. She knew that Uncle Shouto wouldn't join the group until after the Sports Festival. More importantly, her parents were so cute together! Peering out from behind a tree, Mina watched as Izuku waved his hands and expounded on his dummy rescue plan. Ochaco gazed at him with a fond look in her eye. It made Mina's heart squeeze. Young love was so adorable.
Mina blinked in surprise as Ochaco said something in decipherable, then left the trio. Hmm, was something wrong? Why was Ochaco coming in this direction? Mina ducked behind the tree.
In a gentle yet pointed voice, Ochaco asked, "Were you looking for a group to join, Ashido?"
"Hmm? No, Kirishima already asked me to join his group." Belatedly, Mina realized how bad this looked. Ochaco clearly thought that Mina had spied on them in order to steal Izuku's plan. "No, no, it's not like that! I couldn't even hear what you were saying." Sheepishly, Mina came out from behind the tree. "I'm not on a mission of espionage, this is a mission of love. Uh, I didn't mean for that to come out sounding so strange!"
Perhaps this embarrassment could turn into an opportunity. This was Mina's first real chance to get her future mother alone. Mina slung an arm around Ochaco's shoulder. "Hey, Midoriya is a great guy, isn't he? He's so kind and courageous, yet also humble. Don't let the modesty fool you—he's a genius. Thought that shyness of his can be quite cute! He truly cares about other people. His loyalty to his friends and family is unsurpassed. He's adorable, with his curls and freckles. But just wait until you see how ripped he grows up to be. He's great with children, if you want children." Which I desperately hope that you do for the sake of my existence. "I can't tell you how I know, but trust me, he's going to be a great father someday." Memories of her father reading her bedtime stories and tending to her scrapped knees brought a tear to Mina's eyes. She missed her dad, the adult version. The teenage Izuku wasn't the same, and she didn't know him well enough to go to him with her fears and anxieties about changing the future.
Ochaco looked at Mina with a strange expression—perhaps upset, perhaps resigned. "If you like him so much, Ashido, then I'll support you." She sighed, a world of emotion behind the sound. "You should tell Deku how you feel instead of spying on him from behind trees."
Mina paled. "Wait, no, not me! I don't have a crush on Da—Midoriya!" Had she just made her mother give up on her father? Oh, no! Mina looked down at her hands, seeking any sign of them fading away. Surely it couldn't be too late already. Mina grabbed Ochaco by the shoulders. "I was trying to set you up with Midoriya! You like him, don't you? You two would make the dream couple. I want to help you out. I'm an expert matchmaker. I successfully set up a dozen couples in middle school." Acidic sweat dripped down Mina's back as she bullshitted.
Ochaco turned flaming red. "I-I don't know why you'd say…t-that is…I-I don't…"
Mom couldn't bring herself to say that she didn't have a crush on Dad. Mina took that as a good sign. "I think he likes you back. Trust me and my love expertise. He's going to have a big fan club someday, so I suggest confessing now while you have the chance."
Ochaco trembled so hard that she bounced up in the air. "I-I…"
"You discovered a new aspect to your quirk!" Mina clapped her hands. In the future, her mother hadn't figured out how to fly until her early twenties. Wait, would this alter time?
A tremor shook the ground, and Mina found herself flung up in the air, too. She landed unsteadily on her feet. No, it hadn't been her mom's quirk after all. The ground was shaking. Mina looked around. Several yards away, the trees had been crushed down. A trail of damaged trees led off into the distance. At first glance, nothing seemed to be there. However, Mina spotted a brown hair lying on the ground. By looking at the outline created by the crushed trees, she could make out the shape of a giant figure with spiky skin.
Gigantomachia! What was he doing here? Was he under an invisibility quirk? If so, then All for One must have sent him. But why would All for One be moving against Class 1-A early? And why would someone who professed to be smart send Gigantomachia on a stealth mission?
More sweat dripped down Mina's nose. It burned holes into the leaves lying on the dirt below. She forced a smile. "Ha-ha, I'm glad we had this girl talk, but we should get out of here. There seems to be an earthquake. Maybe the training exercise will be canceled. Someone should tell Aizawa to cancel the exercise, right now. That would be a great idea. I'll go find him."
Ochaco grabbed onto a tree to steady herself. "How strange. This doesn't feel like an earthquake—it's too local. The ground is only shaking right around us."
A blast of wind hit Mina's back, nearly knocking her into a tree. Gigantomachia had exhaled. Weakly, Mina suggested, "Maybe it's a storm? Who knows! We should get out of here and not find out!"
Ochaco looked around. "Where are Deku and Iida?"
A bellow ripped the leaves from the trees. "LITTLE LORD!" Gigantomachia was still under the invisibility quirk, but his hand ripped through trees, shooting forward to grab Izuku and lift him off the ground.
Izuku struggled against the invisible hand holding him and flinched from the sniffing noises around him. "Excuse me, sir, but I'm not who you're looking for. Do you have a giant quirk? No, perhaps it's a mutation and invisibility is your primary quirk? How fascinating. Ow!" Izuku winced as a spike rubbed against him.
"Let go of my friend!" Tenya screamed, rushing forward.
"PUNY INSECT TRIES TO TAKE LORD?" Gigantomachia raised his foot.
Mina shot forward. She knew how to handle Gigantomachia—he'd designated Izuku as his new lord after All for One's arrest. She'd often played with him as a child. His favorite game was fetch.
"Stop!" Mina cried, jumping in front of Tenya with her arms outstretched.
The air screeched as Gigantomachia's foot halted. "A LITTLE LADY?"
"Put him down," Mina ordered. She infused a haughty look in her eyes that Gigantomachia had always said made her look like All for One. Her tone was detached, as if she had no doubt about being obeyed. "I'll play with you after you let him go."
Gigantomachia lowered Izuku to the ground.
"Good boy." Mina pulled out a pencil case from her backpack and threw it as far as she could. "Fetch!"
"FETCH!" Gigantomachia cried joyously, bounding off.
Mina hastily threw most of the contents of her backpack out in different directions. Gigantomachia could track them by her scent, and he wouldn't return until he'd found them all. Unfortunately, he would return after that. However, if they could get off the mountain, then All for One had ordered Gigantomachia not to go into town without permission. Then Gigantomachia would take his fetched items to the closest family member—probably All for One—instead. Mina grabbed Izuku's arm. "Go! We've got to find Aizawa and tell him to get everyone off the mountain!"
Tenya nodded. "I'm fastest. I'll go around warning our classmates."
As they ran, Izuku said, "Thank you for the save, Ashido."
"You're fearless!" Ochaco grinned. "The hero of the day!"
"Aw, thank you." Mina was just glad her mom didn't think she was a stalker anymore.
Izuku asked, "Did you know that person?"
"Nope! He must have mistaken me for someone else, like you. I had a lucky save." Mina laughed nervously. "I'm just glad that you're all right, Dad." Her face paled. "I mean, Midoriya! You know how it is, you accidentally call your classmate Dad, it happens all the time, ha-ha." She ran into a tree branch and melted it off with her nervous sweat. Waving off the concerned cries, she said, "I'm fine, let's run faster."
In her embarrassment, Mina didn't notice that a certain very valuable notebook belonging to her future father had fallen out of her open backpack.
In a distant laboratory, Hisashi examined the pens, paper, gum, sanitary pads, and keychains strewn across a metal table. At first glance, there was nothing special about a typical school girl's belongings. However, the notebook was something else. When Hisashi had first started reading the description of future events, he'd taken it for a child's prank. However, the description of his planned All Might assassination at U.S.J. had been uncannily accurate. Hisashi flipped to the last page. A picture fell out. It showed a much older Izuku. A smiling little girl with pink hair and horns sat on his lap.
Remembering Gigantomachia's babble about a little lady, Hisashi's grin widened. This was good news on many fronts. It meant his future time-travel research would later prove profitable, suggesting he should put in more money and resources now. Thanks to this notebook, he had new insight into the future to revise his schemes. He'd dodged the All Might as a long-lost son bullet. Hisashi much preferred an adorable granddaughter. Mina Ashido even looked like a demon, which in Hisashi's eyes made her the cutest little girl in the universe. She must feel lost and all alone, stuck out of time. If her father wasn't amendable to join Hisashi's side, then perhaps she would be.
Time for Hisashi to make some plans to get to know his new granddaughter.

Author's Note: Mina, lucky girl, gets two birthday gifts! This is because Possiblycringe had two great AUs for Mina being related to All for One, and I couldn't pick between them. I was inspired by all Possiblycringe's awesome art for this AU. Thank you so much for the betareading and brainstorming! Possiblycringe (tumblr) / BucketOfMud (Ao3) / Popsicles (discord) also provided the brilliant cover art. I adore the colors and shading. There are also bonus sketches of baby Mina with her family.
