I was talking to some other One Chicago fans about Violet's comments during the season finale and how Emma's storyline resolution was lacking, to say the least. This thought popped into my head and wouldn't leave. This is my first One Chicago Fanfiction. Right now this is a One Shot. Hope you enjoy.
After a couple of days at the cabin, Stella and Kelly were on the apparatus floor talking to the rest of Squad 3. Violet and Sylvie were taking inventory of the ambulance enjoying the banter in the background. Deputy Chief Hill walks in and heads straights to the Squad table and asks for Chief Boden; Cruz leaves to go get him.
Chief Hill turns to offer her congratulations to Stella and Kelly. Stella turns to Chief Hill and asks, "What brings you here to 51, Chief?" Chief Hill sighs, "I'm here about a wrongful termination lawsuit filed against the department and I need to speak to Chief Boden about it, since the plantiff used to work out of this house."
Violet and Sylvie hear this, stop working and walk towards the squad table. At the same time, Gallo and Ritter walk onto the floor to look for something from the trucks and stop when they see the Deputy Chief at the firehouse.
Chief Hill glances around and looks back at Stella, "What is with everyone linked to this firehouse making grand gestures and speeches to me in the hallways of headquarters." Confused, Stella asks, "What do you mean, Chief?"
Chief Hill chuckles, "Well, first you and Truck 81, come and literally lay down your jobs for Pelham. Next thing I know, Chief Hawkins throws himself on his sword so that any blowback from the extortion scheme falls squarely on him and none of it on a certain paramedic. He went so far as to say he would gladly be fired, so that the paramedic would remain untouched."
Violet gasps and Sylvie places her hand on Violet's arm for moral support. Violet steps forward and quietly asks, "When did this happen Chief?" Deputy Hill responds, the morning of the apartment fire. The one where the impaled women gave birth."
Hearing this, tears come to Violet's eyes and she nods towards the Chief and whispers, "Wow, ok." At that time, Cruz and Boden appear. Boden says, "Chief Hill thank you for coming to 51 today for the meeting." Chief Hill smiles, "My pleasure, I wanted to come and see for myself the house that causes such headaches at HQ." With that the 2 chiefs head towards the bullpen. As they walk away, she sees the firefighters beginning to encircle one specific paramedic.
Violet is visibly shaken by what Deputy Hill said. "Crap" Violet mutters under her breath. "I've been ignoring him since before the wedding. I said…Crap." Ritter understands and says, "Go make a phone call. I will help Brett finish restocking the ambo." Grateful, Violet smiles, and quickly glances in the direction Gallo. Gallo smiles, "I'll help too. This seems pretty important."
Violet nods then heads off towards to the apron and Otis' memorial to make a difficult and important call.
