Author's Note: I don't show either show or its characters. RIP Sym-bionic Titan, you will be missed. These two shows are so similar, I had to do a crossover. It's a little more dialogue than I'm used to, but hey, it was still fun.
"We're under heavy fire out here, Lance!" Pidge yelled as the green lion tore into the next line of enemy fighters. "I don't know how much longer we'll hold on out here by ourselves!" "Yeah, what are you doing, fixing your hair for the thousandth time? Maybe try that after we liberate Hexaros!" mumbled Hunk. "Hey, I'll have you know that stray hair can be very distracting during a mission! I could miss a crucial shot if it blocked my sight! If I hadn't fixed my hair before we went to free Slav, he would still be in the grip of that warden!" "Look out!" Pidge knocked Hunk out of the way as the ion cannons fired directly at him. The bright purple glow filled her vision, hitting the side of Green and sending her into a tailspin. "Aaaaaah!" She gritted her teeth as the force rocked through Green and pushed her into her seat. Suddenly a force began to pull Green forward. Were they in a tractor beam? Opening her eyes, Pidge saw a planet's surface hurtling toward her. "What happened?! Where am I?!"
- Up Green! Fly upward! - -I am not familiar with that command. Approaching object at unsafe speeds. Do you wish to engage thrusters? – YES ENGAGE THRUSTERS! –
A pair of rocket launchers appeared out of her feet and back. "Whoa! Where's Green?! What am I wearing?" asked Pidge as the world spun around her. Eventually she managed to get her feet under her. It was similar to the jetpack on her suit, except for the extra boosters in her feet. "Ilana, are you okay? It seems like you're having trouble with your suit." "Who's that? Keith? Where did the Galra go?" She could see a display in her visor, but the colors were all gold instead of green and the setup was different. Furthermore, her entire body was encased in solid armor, unlike her paladin armor. And it was also gold?
"Um, Ilana. It's Lance. And are you sure that Murtraddi beast didn't hit you too hard back there? You aren't making sense. What's a Galra?"
Finally, she noticed two others flying next to her. A blue robot, and a translucent robot filled with wires? Hmm, she'd definitely have to examine that tech. The mainframe looked like it was expandable and collapsible within the bubble, so would the wires extend as well? Neural net, maybe?
Puzzling through the most likely explanations, she answered absently. "Hah, hah Lance very funny. Cute nickname. But seriously, what happened? Last thing I knew, you were on the ship checking your reflection in the mirror. Did I black out on the whole fight? Seems like a lot happened."
So Lance and Pidge had been sent to Hexaros to visit the planet's surface, maybe? Hexaros had been nearby during the fight, and everything had been so chaotic. Maybe she'd hit her head when Green had spun out of control and gotten a concussion that had gone unnoticed. It wouldn't be the first time she'd hid what she thought was a minor injury from the others. To be fair, at the time Pidge had thought it was simply a cut on her arm. How was she supposed to know furos toxins from the native flora would attack her nervous system?
Yet here she was again, dealing with the consequences of her stubbornness. She didn't remember any of this, and where were the lions?
The two other robots pulled up short, and Pidge found she was able to do so as well with a thought.
"Ilana? If someone was getting prettied up, it most definitely would not be me. Listen, let's get you home. We need to make sure you're okay." The serious tone made Pidge cut off her retort. "Alright."
They flew along in silence for a while as Pidge tried to figure out what all she missed and how this alien technology worked. Frowning in concentration, she got to work digging through the robot's code. It was unlike anything she'd seen before – the script didn't resemble Altean or Galran tech and was in yet another foreign alien language. Luckily, she'd created a program for such a time as this – you wouldn't believe how often new languages cropped up when traveling the universe. As this was useful in and out of her suit, it was set to run through Pidge's glasses and while she didn't have Green or her paladin suit, she still had those. She commanded the program to begin running decryption in the background.
They landed near a nondescript suburban home surprisingly similar to houses on Earth. With a flash, the imposing dark robot next to her disappeared to be replaced with a scowling figure Pidge well knew. "Keith! Why didn't you say you were here? And how did you do that?" Keith exchanged a concerned glance with the man standing next to him who had taken the other robot's place. He looked vaguely like Hunk, but more nerdy? Who was this guy? Where did Lance go? "Just tell your suit to return to dormant mode," Keith spoke slowly and gently. "It's going to be alright, Ilana, we're here for you." "Illana again? I don't get the joke." She closed her eyes.
-Return to dormant mode- -Dormant mode initiated –
The golden suit disappeared in a flash and a watch appeared around her wrist. "Whoa! What sort of technology is this? How does it work?!" Pidge examined the accessory in awe, peering at its many buttons labeled with more of that strange language. Suddenly, she was slammed into the ground. "Ow! What the quiznak is wrong with you?!" Keith pinned her to the ground, an enraged look on his face. "Who are you? Where is the princess? If you hurt her you will pay with your life!"
Pidge squirmed, her shoulder digging uncomfortably into the dirt. The look on Keith face was completely feral, with no sign of recognition. "Keith?" she whispered. "What's wrong? Where are the others? Did something happen to Allura?" "I'm not KEITH!" he snapped. "My name is LANCE and you will tell me what happened to Ilana!" "I've never heard of this Ilana in my life! I have no clue what you're talking about! And… you're not Keith?" She examined him closely, from his muscles gained through training, to his signature black t-shirt and mullet. "I suppose you're not wearing your jacket and are those jeans? But you still look exactly like Keith. Certainly angry enough. Are you sure you didn't just get one of Coran's 'Altean delicacies' confused with something edible? It wouldn't be the first time." Keith – Lance? – looked mystified for a moment before his fierce scowl returned. Before he could do or say anything, the strange man that Pidge had almost forgotten about spoke up.
"Lance, she's telling the truth. My scanners can detect when people are lying – there is typically an increase in heart rate and perspiration – and this girl knows nothing about Ilana." "I'm Pidge," said Pidge, her glasses askew. "I'm sorry, I have no clue what happened to your space princess."
"How can you believe this thing?!" Lance turned on Octus. "It was in Ilana's armor! Probably stole it off of her during the fight when she was down for the count. We can't trust it!"
"Hey!" Pidge protested angrily from the ground. "I'm not a THING, and I'm not morally compromised; I'm just as confused as you guys!" She got up and brushed the dirt off her sleeves. "All I know is, one minute, my team was fighting the Galrans off of Hexaros. I get hit with an ion cannon and suddenly I'm hurtling through the sky on the inside of a robot – and not the same robot I had been in." Giving up on getting the grass stains out of her white sleeves, she sighed before meeting each of their eyes in turn. "But we've been hit with ion cannons before. Yes, it's very painful, but it doesn't cause movements through time and space! Maybe I really did hit my head. Green was spinning out of control… by the way, where are we? Is this Hexaros? Or another planet in the Zuroid Sector?"
Lance and Octus stared at her. Shaking his head, Octus spoke. "I do not understand. What is an ion cannon? How would you weaponize ions? Is that not simply electricity? And you said another planet? Are you from a spacefaring race as well?" Pidge tilted her head. "Kind of?" Lance scowled, crossing his arms. "Mutraddi." Raising an eyebrow at Lance, Pidge first answered Octus. "Our planet has space going vehicles, but they're pretty primitive. We got lucky and found a spaceship from a different alien race that could travel faster than light." Turning, Pidge pointed at Lance as she matched Lance's scowl with one of her own. "What is Mutraddi? Why do I get the feeling it's an insult?" Lance leaned back, dark eyes filled with disgust. "The Mutraddi are an evil race of monstrous beasts. Some can disguise themselves and appear humanoid." He gave a pointed glance at her. "They would be the type to steal things, like spaceships." Pidge crossed her arms and avoided his gaze. "Technically, Blue let us on of her own free will, and we returned her to the Alteans after preventing her from being captured by the Galra. In reward, we were all conscripted into a fight for freedom against the tyranny of the Galra across the universe, so I think we more than made up for that."
"You think I care- " Lance turned abruptly away, fists shaking as he glared at the ground. "We lost her." "Lance-" "No, Octus! We had one job. One. Protect the princess. And we've failed."
