Before you read, let me just say this. Don't expect too much from me, I suck at writing and my schedule is a complete mess if you can't tell from my other stories.
This story will ONLY contain HoloLive EN, that means no ID or JP. I don't think I'm experienced or talented enough to write a story with 20+ characters, especially as diverse and unique as they are.
Another thing, I will be trying to follow the lore of each HoloLive EN members as best as I can, but please note that this is a Fanfic and I might deviate from the lore at some point. So, I apologize in advance if the characters don't act like they "normally" would. Besides, I'm not overly invested in them in general and this is just a story I'm making for fun.
Like always, criticism and your opinions are always welcomed, just don't expect me to respond to them since I most likely won't have time for it.
Other than that, if you don't mind cringe or bad writing then I hope you enjoy this trash of a story.
In the beginning...there was nothing.
An empty void that consisted of absolutely nothing. At least that's what it seemed at first. Within the cold void where nothing existed, slithered Beings of no shape or form that kept each other company as they moved from and about. Their thoughts, actions, and reasonings were incomprehensible to one another despite their similarities. But the one thing they could understand about each other was the contentment they felt in roaming freely.
However, in that laid an issue: there was very little to do in a place that could be considered nonexistent. With nothing but each other for company, the many countless Beings were bound to have conflicts with one another despite their intentions. Usually when a farce between them occurred, the others would watch in amusement or indifference depending on their mood. In most cases, these conflicts would end as quickly as they started with little to no changes to the status quo that they were used to.
But...in the off chance that their conflicts lasted a bit longer, there were moments when during those conflicts something would appear amidst their nothingness. A glimmer or even a flash of something foreign and new. Though it occurred continuously as their conflicts went on, a majority of the Beings within the emptiness paid little mind to it in favor of lying dormant like they pleased. Unfortunately, their lack of action was what led to the event that would change everything that they knew.
It happened in an instant.
Too sudden for them to comprehend, too devastating for them to contain. A white flash, a complete contrast to the darkness that they were used to, was all they saw before a soundless explosion expanded upon them. The two Beings who were the cause of such a violent event vanished as if they never existed in a blink of an eye. The others were forcibly thrown back from the scene, though they allowed themselves to be as they wished to avoid a similar fate.
Though that was the least of their worries as where there was once nothing, there was now something.
Unrelenting.
Ruthless.
Disorganized.
Chaos is what it was...it was simply Chaos.
That was the only way to describe the scene that took place before them. New substances and elements were being thrown around without a care as they slammed against each other at seemingly random intervals. Ripples spread out before them as the ongoing Chaos continued its...childish antics, only causing the Beings to become further perplexed.
There were various reactions that each of the Beings had but a majority were either confused and infuriated or intrigued and entertained.
The ones who wished to continue their eternity dormancy and favored the abyss greatly, were outraged at such a display before them. Their peace and status quo was stamped upon, and they did not particularly like their living conditions changing so abruptly.
The others, who were intrigued by the new and entertaining display before them, wished to investigate and understand what they didn't. For Beings such as these who knew all up till now, to witness something that they did not understand, it was only to be expected that they would want to quench their curiosity.
Before they knew it, a divide amongst them had been made with one side wishing to destroy the new existence that came to be, while the other wished to preserve it for their own amusement. Those who didn't care or take part in this conflict were very few in number, not that it mattered to the rest.
And so, what came next was a conflict like no other. The Beings devoured, eviscerated, fractured, and slaughtered each other in a seemingly endless battle. One by one, they wiped each other from existence while the ever-consuming abyss surrounding them turned their remains to nothing. At first glance, it almost seemed as if there would be no victor to this charade.
Unfortunately, for the ones who wished to preserve the newfound creation, the other Beings were far from than what they seemed. The Beings' existence was always a mystery, neither born nor created, they simply existed for as long as they were able to think for themselves. With no origin, no sense of purpose, there were very few ways they could have differentiated themselves from one another.
Time was one of those few ways, despite how insignificant they regarded it.
But nevertheless, it was a factor in defining them, and for the ones who wished for destruction, they could be considered the oldest of the old. Larger, stronger, wiser, far more Ancient than the rest, it was only now that they showed their potential. So it was of no surprise that they were the ones who came out victorious at the end. With their opposers gone, they now had set their eyes upon their next target.
However, upon drifting their attention back onto the chaotic scene, they found that it was far larger than what it was originally. Due to their carelessness, their conflict with one another simply allowed for the creation of more Chaos. Greatly increasing its influence and intensity than what it originally had.
While they were focused on that, the few Beings who took no part in their charade, four in total, were instead intrigued by the phenomenon taking place within theChaos.
If one were to gloss over this incoherent mess, then they would surely miss the small corrections that were being made. Instances in which the illogical became logical and the confusion became certainty, only for it all to revert back and repeat once more. Restraints were created and bindings were formed, only for them to be shattered and repaired each time without remorse.
It was here that the lonesome four Beings realized something.
Whether it was from the conflict of their fellow Beings or simply something that seemingly came into existence, it was clear that Chaos wasn't the only thing roaming there.
Out of the Chaos running rampant...came Order to clean up the mess.
Where the destruction and mayhem occurred, an unseeable force would shackle and contain the aftermath. Only for the efforts to immediately be crushed once again. In a never-ending cycle, Chaos and Order continued their antics, giving each other meaning and purpose to each other.
A mesmerizing spectacle that would be known as the foundation of the Universe.
Unfortunately, their audience was far from pleased as they readied themselves to revert everything back to what it originally was. However, having their backs turned exposed them to the ones who had other plans not too different than the ones they had defeated. And besides, if the others wished for their silence and emptiness to come back, then who were they to deny them their wishes?
In unison, the four quickly sealed the others while their attention was elsewhere before banishing to the farthest reaches of the void. Beyond the universe's boundaries where none could see nor know of them again. The seal was only just that, a seal, and would no doubt be broken in their occupants' wrath and rage.
Knowing this, two of the four Beings left to enforce their will upon the boundary between the void and the universe creating a rift between them. The other two remained where they were while conjuring their minds for a solution. A solution that became quite clear to them once they glanced around themselves.
While Chaos and Order continued their respective behaviors, they noticed that there was still an oddity regarding them. In between the objects and specks of the young universe there was a blatant sign of nothing. Despite the universe containing something, there was still nothing in-between the gaps and crevices it had, meaning the influence of the void was still among them.
The solution then became simple, they simply had to put something in the nothing. With the two of them placing their strength together, they created their first ever concept that was undefinable by none except themselves. Between the matter and elements that floated aimlessly, they willed into existence their creation that would expand the reaches of the universe: Space.
With their creation born and set, the other two Beings had returned to witness what they had done and were satisfied upon their arrival. Their satisfaction only lasted for a moment as they felt that there was still something missing. With the universe expanding as quickly as it was, it became apparent to them that now they wished for there to be more to this than what they currently had.
All of this, and yet they still felt that the emptiness was still present. Space occupied all that surrounded them, beyond the terms of the physical dimension, and yet there was nothing to occupy that Space. To give it meaning, purpose, an anchor that would define what wasn't definable by itself alone.
With that in mind, the two unsatisfied Beings willed into existence another concept. One that would use the creation of the other two to fill the barren world that they had chosen to manage. On the scattered remains of rock and earth, the two Beings crafted simple and numerous little organisms. Different colors, sizes, and shapes, these living creatures and organisms were made to inhabit their chosen planets. And so, Nature was created.
Once again, all four Beings were satisfied with their work. Where there was once nothing to occupy and anchor the Space around them, there was now Nature to flourish with the light from the stars and the soil of the earth. The organisms inhabited their environments as they were intended to, coexisting with one another while moving every so often.
With pure excitement and anticipation, the creators watched their creations...
...and watched...
...and watched...
...and watched...
...and watched...
...and watched...
Only to be disappointed when nothing occurred between these newly created organisms. They roamed their habitats but did nothing more. It was as if they knew not what to do with their existences, and that did not dwell well in the minds of their creators. For what was one's existence without purpose?
The four sought to find a way to give them meaning without directly influencing them. After all, they did not wish to control them nor constrict the way they lived. An existence where both necessary desire and mutual needs were formed between their creations was what they wished to make. So they tied their creations to the feeble concept that even they were constrained to: Time.
Growth. Development. Ascension. Evolution.
Over Time, their biological structures began to become diverse. Differentiating each and every one of them, even from similar species. Their bodies grew and began to develop the more they aged. Adapting to their environments, they began to evolve to fit the criteria that their habitats required of them. Soon, each of every one of them had found a single common purpose: Survival.
However, with the benevolence that was shown to them came the cruelty that followed.
Hunger. Thirst. Decay. Death.
Left to Time's mercy, they were subjugated to the cruelty that defined what it meant to survive. Needs were made, for change could not be made without a sacrifice. To grow, one needed to be fed and hydrated. To develop, one needed to outsmart the competition with what they had. To ascend the food chain, one needed to rise above the rest as the others rot. To evolve, one needed to experience Death and overcome it.
The four Beings were in glee, for they were satisfied with the way their creations had turned out. With their entertainment set they watched, for who knows how long, as different variants of creatures were born without their intervention. Some died out long before they knew it, others continued to persist, and some even developed strange habits.
Those with the strange habits were few and consisted of species that were not fit to survive. Despite this, they piqued their interest due to the fact that they did what no other creature did.
They spoke.
They spoke and prayed, speaking to them without even knowing that they were there. Asking and begging in both prayer and cries for favors from these "Gods". The four Beings did not know what these so called "Gods" were, but they assumed that they were addressing them: their creators. Amused more than anything, the four Beings took the mantle that they had been given by their creations and assumed the roles of these "Gods".
Their creations continued to pray, offer gifts, beg, and much more. Seeing no harm in rewarding their devotion, the Four Gods blessed these creatures with something that they themselves had: knowledge. Being far more capable in containing said knowledge, these creatures were able to harness their blessing and used it in a way that honored the Gods.
The Gods had created them, so they wished to create as well.
They had started small, creating tools to help them survive the world they were in. Soon they began settling and adapting to areas that they deemed beneficial. Camps, villages, towns, a structure and foundation were soon starting to form for each and every one of them. And to the delight of their Gods, they were able to transfer their knowledge down from generation to generation. Before they knew it, these creations created an entire concept of their own with no influence from their Gods: Civilization.
Born from their efforts, their history, their very impact on the world itself, this concept grew as they themselves did. Though small in comparison to the concepts created and defined by the Gods, Civilization was one with limitless potential for its limits were only bounded by the creatures that created it. And with the knowledge bestowed upon them by the Gods, there seemed to be no end with how far they will go.
Which led to another predicament, with their ever-growing knowledge they were able to not only partially understand the concepts created by the Gods but also form a connection with them. Unfortunately, creations of the Gods were best left untampered.
Because of this, disorder spread throughout the universe as Nature was corrupted by Civilization's ever-expanding domain. By giving Time a more definitive and explicit understanding, it was essentially turned universal, further giving more control of the lives of the living then what was intended. Space, in its never-ending expansion, would only fuel the flames as it created more opportunities for conflict to occur within its domain.
The Four Gods' moment of fascination ended as quickly as it came, for they could foresee the end of all their efforts if this was not put to a stop. They did not wish for a temporary solution but one that would prevent this same scenario from happening for as many times as it occurs. They wished for a solution that didn't require their direct intervention for they believed they had done enough already.
Their answer came in the form of creating avatars for the concepts that they created with the intent of forming a Council. By giving them thought and a will much like their other creations, the Gods believed they would be able to develop and grow, as well limiting and keeping an eye on each other.
The first concept to receive their avatar was Space, who the Gods assigned to be the "Speaker of Space", who would be open minded and the voice of reason.
The second was the "Keeper of Nature" who the Gods assigned to watch over all living creatures that inhabited the universe, excluding those who they bestowed their knowledge.
The "Warden of Time" was the third vessel granted by the Gods, tasked with keeping their domain in check and to remove anything that would disrupt it.
The fourth, surprisingly, did not receive a vessel from the Gods, but instead followed their lead and manifested itself. With the advice from the Gods to keep on an eye on their growth, the fourth, the "Guardian of Civilization", took it upon itself to protect the creatures that created it: Humanity.
The Council was nearly finished, the last thing it needed was one who would both do what needed to be done but also leave them to their own devices. Fortunately, the Gods received what they had needed in the form of the literal embodiments of Chaos and Order, who had their interests piqued. They had followed the example of the "Guardian of Civilization" and manifested of their own will to participate in this newly founded Council.
Both the embodiments of Chaos and Order took to their positions within the Council with no complaints. With Chaos announcing decisions made by the Council and Order enforcing those decisions, the Gods were able to distance themselves as they wished. No longer did they step in whenever something occurred, for the Council would do so in their stead, making it the last time they would ever show themselves again.
Under the Council's watch, the universe continued to exist in the safety that they provided.
With a look of awe and starstruck eyes, a Nephalem, who had witnessed the work of the Gods, watched in wonder.
