Dear Reader,
Thank you for taking the time to check out my fanfiction! It has taken me a fair number of years to produce, the number of which I will not specify for fear of embarrassment. I've always hated when I came across a good fiction, but it was left incomplete or had atrociously slow updates. I decided I wouldn't post this until it was complete; as to the quality, I leave that to the reader to judge.
This story takes place during the Marvel 2008 crossover event Secret Invasion. I enjoyed the build up to the event, and reasonably enjoyed the comics but was tremendously disappointed that Doctor Doom made no appearance during such a significant event. This represents my effort to correct that. This story frequently references occurrences from that crossover. The chief difference is that the Skrull's major operations were broadly successful in this story, rather than outright failing across the board despite their meticulous planning.
A note on canonicity; I have made every attempt to keep things appropriate to the cannon, but with such a large crossover involving so many characters, some errors may occur, and I ask your forgiveness in this regard. Other things have been changed by artistic licence (did you know that The Thing is officially only six-feet tall?). Furthermore, please fully disregard the events depicted in Fantastic Four #559-561 and the state of Latveria depicted in Dark Avengers #1.
As befits a story surrounding a character such as Victor Von Doom, be aware that it tends towards darkness, and I think it certainly earns its 'Mature' rating. Moreover, his politics will naturally reflect this, and I suspect he would be quite comfortable at table with Joseph de Maistre and Hobbes!
