A long time ago, in a faraway place, there laid a kingdom high on a mountaintop, ruled by a generous king and queen. For many years, the reigning couple longed for a child in hopes of securing the throne.
King Lorei and Queen Reina Delmont struggled throughout those years - no luck. With each passing failure of conceiving and other families expanding theres', they slowly became desperate and depressed at the notion that their wish for a family may never come true.
But alas, Queen Reina discovered that she was with child. The news spread throughout the kingdom. The celebrations lasted for days. Finally, there would be an heir.
The king and queen were happy as the nine months flew by, and they couldn't wait to meet their child. And then suddenly, the news that the queen had gone into labour swept throughout the land.
And yet, something unusual co-occurred; two identical baby girls were born. But they weren't born to the same parents.
The first baby was born as a princess, heir to the throne. King Leroi and Queen Reina were thrilled at their arrival and gave their daughter Bridgette Delmont.
The second baby was born as a child to the bakers; Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng. Her parents named her Marinette Dupain-Cheng. They loved their daughter just as much as the king and queen loved theirs, but they were worried. Could they raise her in a bakery? Would she suffer in the future? How could they make this work?
They were not rich like the Bourgeois or the Royal family./p
As the years passed, the princess learned her royal duties. Her parents wanted her to have the best education possible so that she may be fit to one day ascend the throne as a respectable queen.
On the other hand, Marinette worked long and hard as a seamstress for the ever-demanding Audrey Bourgeois. While it wasn't a terrible occupation, as Marinette did enjoy designing and making clothes, the abuse she endured, especially at the hands of Audrey's daughter, ChloƩ, was too much at times. It seemed like it was a personal mission for ChloƩ to attempt to break Marinette's spirit.
With two lives so different, it was no surprise that the lonely princess and the determined seamstress had never met. Yet, fate was a mysterious being that decreed that they would.
However, this meeting would not occur until a train of events spiralled into a desperate decision.
The miners informed the royal family that the mine in their kingdom had no more gold. The now widowed Queen Reina was shocked at the news, and the realisation that the domain was in danger had struck her hard.
They had no export, and with that, they had no means of trading with other kingdoms. With that assumption, they were in danger of bankruptcy, starvation, and the possibility of invasion.
How was she going to take care of her subjects now?
Queen Reina felt distraught and struggled to determine the best cause of action for the situation. Under normal circumstances, this is where her Royal Adviser, Hawk Moth, would step in with advice; however, he was currently away on a business trip.
The woman sat on her throne, thinking hard of suggestions when her daughter walked into the throne room.
Ding.
The queen sat up as an idea struck her.
A nearby kingdom was ruled by King Gabriel and his beloved wife, Queen Emillie Agreste. Queen Reina knew they had a young son named Adrien, who was the same age as her daughter.
The queen glanced at her daughter before she called for a servant. She instructed them to bring a pen and some paper to her office. She was going to offer a marriage alliance between Prince Adrien and Princess Bridgette.
The princess watched her mother leave the throne. However, she didn't know why at that moment; she felt a slight hint of dread build in her stomach.
She sent the offer letter that day, and within a couple of weeks, the two families agreed on the matter.
The two monarchs announced that the two would wed.
