I blankly spectated a blue chiropteran mammal that—to this day—haunted all the humans on Earth whenever they entered a cave during their playthroughs.

The broad, otherwise empty mouth the bat usually displayed, had a firm hold on what I reckoned to be a dark-skinned larva. There wasn't a hint of sand, leaves, or pink insulation coating the prey's coiled, segmented body.

… Is inhabited far and wide by mystical creatures called Pokemon.

For some, pokemon are pets.

Gaseous, disembodied hands beckoned an unsuspecting golden duck into a corner, and the purple ghost hiding within cackled as its victim convulsed.

Others use them for battle.

Large incisors laid to the side as victory buoyed an adorable, chalky striped squirrel. The rodent happily waved its short arms while bouncing on the stiff, cream-colored belly of the beaver it defeated.

While extremely dedicated people study pokemon as a profession.

And far-off roars of a humongous bear entangled itself with piercing screams.

Well, that's how it'll be in the future. As for myself…

I turned away from the wild ecosystem, diverted from the tingling sensation produced by my blond antenna-like streaks.

I'm also a pokemon. Maybe fun-sized compared to the rest, but whatever the intended outcome was supposed to be…

My very own pokemon legend is about to unfold.

"Cu ti?" All I managed to spot were black plumes obscuring my trivial self-

A world of dreams and adventure with pokemon awaits!
