"Hey, I'm home." Tiffany shouted, walking through the front door. She had just got done from a seemingly normal day at work.
"Oh, hey." Nikki greeted, getting up from the couch to greet her friend.
"So, how was everything? Did you two play some video games?"
The nerdy girl paused, seeming a tad uneased "Y-Yeah. We had a great time." she said, nudging at the front door.
Tiffany nodded, knowing that she wanted to talk. Something must've been wrong. They went outside to have a chat.
"Listen, we need to talk about him." she said, putting her head down.
"What about him?"
"Ugh... How can I put this lightly? He's fucking insane!"
The blondie couldn't believe her ears, thinking that she was over-reacting.
"What do you mean?"
"While we were playing video games, he randomly started like, changing his voice? Sometimes, he would shout words and weird phrases. Not to mention, we played a rather violent game. I'm honestly starting to really worry about him."
"Really? Are you sure that's what he was doing?" Tiffany asked, trying to get clarity.
"Yeah. Like, you told me he was acting weird, but I didn't think it was THAT weird. You need to have him committed."
Of course, that sentence came up again. It was the same thing she had said on the phone earlier that day.
"He doesn't need to be committed. He just needs time to recover. He's just traumatized. Whatever that Greenseed place did to him must've been worse than I thought."
"I understand. But whatever the case may be, his head is totally fucked. Maybe Audrey can perform an exorcism on him now that she's a Christian."
"Nikki!" she shouted, not taking kindly to that outrageous remark.
"Just saying."
"Still, thanks for watching over him today. I really appreciate it."
"No problem. I'll see you later."
They told each other goodbye and she departed, heading back to her house. Tiffany walked in, wondering what the problem was. It didn't seem like JD was in a bad mood. In fact, he started to act a bit more like his usual self recently.
"Hey, babe." she said, kissing him on the cheek.
"Hey, dear. Is everything good with Nik?" he asked, almost sounding calm.
She sat next to him, not knowing what Nikki was talking about. He seemed perfectly fine.
"Yeah, we're all good. She was just telling me how much fun you two had, that's all."
He was happy to hear that she enjoyed their time together, even though what Tiffany was saying was a lie.
She got up and went to the kitchen. The blondie felt like she was under a lot of stress.
First, my boyfriend attempts suicide, now one of my friends wants to get put him in an institution. God, what's happening anymore? It felt so much easier last year...
Justin then decided to look on his phone and sign onto the curse of social media. He was still texting numerous people, suddenly becoming a bit more on edge.
"Fuck these people." he said, throwing his phone down. Tiffany peeked her head out, seeing him now back to being upset.
Something tells me that his phone might be the cause of his mental decline...
She went back in and began to cook dinner, all while thinking about what was going on.
The moment after he threw it down, it began ringing. Although he usually went into a panic when receiving a phone call, seeing the name 'Vinnie' pop up seemed more promising.
He answered it, seeing what his loyal friend wanted.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Justin! Guess what?" the beastly ginger man said, sounding as optimistic as he possibly could.
"What?"
"I'm getting married."
The moment those three words came out, JD had become speechless. Vinnie was finally getting married to Kyanna after being together for almost a year at that point. All because he arranged that date for them on New Year's Eve...
"V-Vin... I'm so happy for you!" he yelled with glee.
"Yeah, it's great. I proposed to Kyanna about an hour ago. She's still crying about it, but I made her so happy."
"I-I'm just so happy!" a voice yelled in the background.
"Hi, Kyanna. Anyways, I'm honestly really proud of you, dude. You used to be a lonely veteran from Brazil. Now, you're a retired man living a great life with a beautiful woman and her kid."
"And her cousin, and a part-time maid." he said, referring to an old friend.
Right...
"But hey, now that me and her are engaged, I wanted to make you an offer."
An offer? For what?
"What is it?" JD said, completely curious as to what his Brazilian friend wanted to offer him.
"How would you like to be my best man?"
He dropped his phone, completely speechless. Not only was Vin making a huge step forward in his life, but he was also offering him to be the best man that would help with the wedding.
"Hello?" Vinnie said, not hearing a response.
Justin snapped himself out of it and picked up his phone.
"Yes, Vin. I would love to be your best man." he said, trying to keep himself together.
"Good. Say, how about you come by my house some time next week and we can start making plans for our wedding?"
"Yes, I can do that. I-I'm proud of you, man. You've done it. You finally found yourself the family you never had." he said, making a valid statement.
"I appreciate that, buddy. I guess I'll see you next week."
"Oh yeah, definitely. Bye, Vin."
They both hung up. Justin felt an overwhelming amount of joy in that very moment. Even after the suicide attempt, the mental issues, and the conflicting therapy session, in the end he had something to look forward to.
Tiffany walked in, wondering what all the commotion was about.
"Who was that on the phone?" she asked, wondering why he was so happy all of a sudden.
He smiled at her. "It was Vin. Him and Kyanna are getting married!"
"Oh my gosh! Really?" she said, also cheerful about the exciting news.
"Yep. And he wanted me to be his best man."
"Oh... That's awesome, baby." she said, coming in and hugging him. Things started to lighten up for a change. Even if he was still battling his own depressive thoughts, he was still very appreciative for his friend, Vinnie.
But hearing the news of his friend getting engaged brought up another thought in his mind: I need to start saving up for an engagement ring...
