*Recap*

"Well," he says. "That is stop number 2 on our trip today. After checking in here, we are gonna swing by your place and pick up some things you might need. If that is okay with you?"

"Yea, sounds good," I say dropping onto the couch.

"We will get this guy," Flack says from across the room.

"I guess I will believe it when I can sleep in my own bed," I say.

He laughs a little at my words. He motions for the door, and I get up off the couch and head to the front door. He goes out first and I follow. We go back down to his car and head back to my apartment. As we arrive, I see him scanning around us as he parks. He checks one more time, before he opens my door and escorts me inside. We get to my door, and he motions for me to wait. I nod my head and hand him my keys. He opens my door and slowly walks through with his hand on his gun. He makes his way through my apartment as I stand just in the entryway. I honestly didn't worry about going in my apartment until I remembered the guy had found me in the police precinct.

After a couple of minutes of him searching through my apartment, he comes back and motions that I can come deeper into the apartment now. I close my door and head to my room to grab my duffle bag. I start putting some clothes in the bag. I grabbed some comfy clothes and some clothes for when I could go back to work. I also packed some shoes into my bag. I then go into my bathroom and grab some supplies from there. I didn't know how long I would be away, so I decided to pack for at least a month just to be safe. I would rather be over prepared than under prepared.

I go out into the living room area to see Flack looking out the window. I clear my throat and hold up the bag. "All done."

"Great," he says turning around. "Let's get out of here before our friend figures out you are here."

Once again, he takes up the position in front of me as we exit my apartment. I close the door, and he locks it. We walk back down to his car as he continues to scan the area around us before we get into his car. We drive back to the hotel making small talk about everything. He made for a fun travel partner. We arrive back at the hotel a little after the sun goes down. We go back up to the room and I decide to order some room service. Flack mentioned that tonight I would be alone, so that I could get used to everything. I thanked him as he left once, I stepped inside, closed and locked the hotel door.

This hotel was a very nice. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom was large. I also could get used to the view from this place. The doorbell rang and I asked them to leave it and go back. I waited a few minutes and then carefully opened the door. I was shocked at first to see an officer outside my door, but he smiled as he pushed the cart inside. I nodded my head thanks, and he left the trolley and went back out.

I turned on the TV for white noise to some show. I sat down and ate my food on the couch and just stared at the TV. So, this was what the next few days would be like. I was wondering if when the detectives were here if we could go out to eat, because room service was expensive. I finished my room and put the trays on the trolley and pushed it back into the hallway. I called down to the front desk that the trolley was there if they wanted to come get it. I locked the door and hopped into the bath. I just soaked for a while until I was getting dizzy from the heat. I finished my bath, changed into my pjs, and climbed into the bed. This felt like the start of a long process.

The next morning, I woke up once again to my normal alarm clock for work. I remembered where I was and what had happened the day before. I just flopped back down onto the bed. There wasn't much I could do today since I was supposed to stay in the room. I get up and get ready for the day as if I was going out still. There was no use breaking my morning routine I figured. As soon as I was about to sit down on the couch with a good book there was a knock at my door. A little nervous, I went up to the peep hole and looked outside. I chuckled when I saw Danny on the other side. I opened the door to see him holding up a brown bag and a cup of coffee.

"Figured you might could use a little breakfast today," he says.

"Perfect timing," I say and move so that he can come in, "come on in."

"Nice digs," he says walking in and looking around.

"Thanks," I say, closing and locking the door, "I am going to have them in to change the curtains later."

"Ha-ha," he laughs. "Nice. I knew there was something I liked about you."

"Oh, thanks Messer," I say taking the coffee cup from his hands. "This is just the pick me up I needed."

"Well, glad to be of help," Danny said. "I came over to let you know more about who and when the detectives will be staying here and potentially how long this arrangement would be."

"Great," I say sitting down cross-legged on the couch. "I remember kind of being told yesterday by Flack and Detective Taylor, but honestly I was still kind of out of it most of the time."

"That is understandable," he says sitting in the chair near the couch. "We think we will have your shop cleared to operate by the end of today, so you could get back to work tomorrow."

"Oh, that is great!" I say really smiling for the first time since this all started.

"Glad to see you haven't lost that smile of yours," he replies.

"Hard to find reasons to smile the last couple days," I say back.

"Well on the note of your shop opening tomorrow," he starts, "Flack says that he can drive you to and from work tomorrow so he would most likely be the one to stay through the night, barring any big crime happening in the city."

"We will see," I chuckle a little. "There is always something going on in this city."

"That's the truth." Danny agrees shaking his head. "But Don is feeling really bad that you have been put in this situation and want to help as much as possible. We all do."

"Thanks," I say looking at my hands. "Honestly, haven't felt this freaked out since the whole thing with my ex a few years ago."

"I heard about that," he says getting serious. "That guy was a loser."

"You're telling me," I say.

"Tonight, you will be by yourself, because we have a couple cases that have us backed up." Danny says.

"No, it is fine," I say shaking my head. "I understand. The world is still going on even if it feels like my world has frozen."

"Hey," he says making me look at him, "you will get through this and be even stronger afterwards."

"Thanks for the pep talk, Messer," I say giving him a smile. "But as you said you are busy. So… thanks for the coffee and the mystery bag of food."

"Alright. Alright." He says laughing and standing up. He places the food bag down on the table. "I get it. I get it. You want to devour the food with no one watching. I will get out of your hair." He heads towards the door.

"Not funny Messer," I say with a small smile. "Have a good day." He opens the door and turns around.

"You will get through this," Danny says.

"Thanks," I say as the door closes. I lock the door after he leaves, and I go to open the bag of food.

Inside the bag of food is a bagel sandwich and some fruit. The coffee was good. I would have to ask Messer where he got this coffee from. I go back to my book and now with my coffee and bagel, I dive into my book. I normally worked every day so it's kind of nice to have a day to myself oddly. I finished my bagel and fruit after a few minutes. I was finishing my coffee when the doorbell rang, and a voice said it was room service. "I hadn't ordered anything and told them through the door, hoping they would go find the right room. The voice said that it was ordered for me. I peeked through the peephole. It seemed to be an officer, but I didn't recognize him, so I decided to call Flack.
