*Recap*

I was finishing my coffee when the doorbell rang, and a voice said it was room service. I hadn't ordered anything and told them through the door, hoping they would go find the right room. The voice said that it was ordered for me. I peeked through the peephole. It seemed to be an officer, but I didn't recognize him, so I decided to call Flack.

I went to my purse and called the number he had given me. The call just rang and rang. I mean I know he is busy so that makes sense. I shot him a text about what was going on. I go back to the door and ask the officer to just leave it outside and I would get it in a few minutes. They said OKAY and left the tray outside my door.

I waited for a couple of minutes until I thought the officer had left. Then I opened the door just a crack to see if anyone was out there. Since I say no one, I opened the door wide enough to reach out and grab the plate of food and then quickly close the door. I was probably overreacting anyways. I just wanted to be careful. The guy who had been watching me seemed to not care if there were witnesses, so I didn't want to see what happened if I was careless.

Lunch was going to be a salad, so I put it in the mini fridge until a little later. I wasn't hungry after what Danny brought over. I went back to my book. After a while, I decided to eat the salad and then after I started to write up a plan for my coffee shop. After everything, there were some changes that needed to be made. I wrote out the list and started to make calls to those who I knew could help me with security, preparation and maybe some staffing concerns. I spent several hours calling people and putting my plan in motion. I knew I could go back to work tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure everyone who came in from now on would feel safe when they walked in the door.

As the day grew darker, my phone buzzed. It was a message from Flack. Apparently, there was a very dangerous person from Miami in the city and everyone was trying to find him. He mentioned that no one would be staying this evening unlike what they had planned. Which I honestly didn't expect. I could take care of myself. I hoped. I had been doing just that for the past several years. The night comes and goes with nothing new or exciting happening.

I woke up when my alarm went off and got ready for the day. It was going to be a busy day at the coffee shop. I headed out after putting the plate from yesterday on the trolley. I suddenly thought there had been no dinner. I mean I ate the salad pretty late, so I didn't really realize. I headed to the elevator and nodded my head to the officer. I figured that since Flack mentioned he was busy and I saw the manhunt on the news, then I would get a taxi to the shop. After a short taxi ride, I finally walk up to my door after several days.

It was great to walk through the door again and see that it looked exactly as it had a few days ago. I set about cleaning everything, but soon realized it was already kind of spotless. I guess there must be a cleaning service that goes in after crimes and cleaned up all the things. I sat down with my planner and checked on where the new security cameras will go. There was a knock on the front door, and I looked up and smiled at the faces behind the glass. I get up and go unlock the door and let them in.

"Is everything okay?" I ask Flack and Messer as they come in and I close the door again.

"Yes," they both say a little too quickly.

"Now I know something is up," I say sitting back by my planner.

"The chief is thinking about quitting the detail," Falck says sitting down.

"With the shooter and the guy from Miami, he is worried about needing all the available police to search for the guy," Messer says grabbing a chair and bringing it over to the booth.

"It is understandable," I say.

"We are worried that the shooter is going to use this manhunt as a way to get in undetected," Messer says.

"Has anything weird happened while you have been at the hotel?" Flack asks in a serious tone.

"Not really," I say thinking back. "There was the lunch delivery that I didn't order. I tried calling but you didn't pick up cause you were busy. Oh! Yea there was one weird thing. Dinner never arrived. I didn't order, but I was wondering if anyone else did as well, but it never showed."

"Taeylor," Flack says getting even more serious, "we never ordered anything for lunch yesterday. We were busy all day yesterday looking for that guy."

"What?" I ask thinking it wasn't real. "After Messer dropped off the coffee, it was maybe around 3 hours later that the officer knocked on the door and said that lunch had been ordered for me."

"Did they come in the room?" Messer asked.

"No." I said. "It felt weird, so I asked them to leave it at the door and after a few minutes, I opened the door and brought only the plate into the room. The trolley was still there this morning, so I left the used plate on the cart as I left."

"We thought the hotel would be safe, but it seems it isn't," Flack shakes his hand. "We need to get you out of there."

"It's fine." I say. "There is no place that is 100% safe. If it helps, I can get a place of my own."

"No that isn't what we are worried about," Messer says. "If he got to you in the hotel, it means we have a leak in the department."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"We need to move you to somewhere safer," Flack says. "Can you come with us now?"

"I mean as long as I have my phone, I can still work. I wasn't going to open today anyways." I say closing my planner.

"Let's first get you to the lab," Messer says. "The way in is more secure than waiting at the precinct."

"Hey," Flack says sounding a little offended. "Yea it is true."

We all have a little laugh. I pack up my stuff and then we all head out of my shop. We get in the car. They take me to the lab. I was in awe about all the glass windows to the rooms. As the three of us step out, I adjust the 'visitor' badge to my cardigan. I see Detective Taylor walking up to us.

"We don't have time for visitors today. I am sorry but you will need to leave so that they can focus." He says in a stern voice.

"Um… I…" I stutter out before Flack speaks up.

"We are going to put her in Messer's office, and we can explain why she is here on the way to get our guy," Flack tells Detective Taylor as Messer leads me to his office.

"I can go to the coffee shop if it is easier," I say looking at Messer as he opens the glass door and escorts me in.

"No need," he says motioning to a couch on the side. "If you stay here, Flack or I will be along later to take you somewhere safe." With that he heads back into the bustling lab.

I can see Flack talking to Detective Taylor a little way away. He doesn't look so happy but nods his head and they both head to the elevator. I pull out my planner and start to make some calls to postpone some of the work I was going to do today. Others I still go through with as they could be done over the phone. I got some more legal things worked on for the internal things I needed to fix and change.

I added some more people to the list of administrators of the coffee shop so that if something were to happen to me, the coffee shop would be in good hands. I scheduled and planned out where the new CCTV cameras will go and when the service guy can come in and set them up. I must have fallen asleep at some point. It had become dark outside, and everything seemed a little quieter around than when I first arrived.
