ARC 1 - NEW WORLD, NEW RULES
CHAPTER 2
Another day in the world of Quirks, and Spider-Man swings around the city between tall buildings. Yesterday has been quite eventful. After publicly, and unintentionally humiliating the powered trio, he kind of painted a target on his own back. Now, other super-powered people, and the police are on high alert to try and catch him. Although, ever the good Samaritan, that didn't stop him from helping people. One time, he caught a powered purse snatcher. He left him hanging on a street light, returned the stolen item, and left before the victim got to thank him. Next, he rescued a kitten from high up in the tree and returned it to the kid watching him. Then, at around dusk, he successfully stopped a car with a broken brake from crashing into some pedestrians. Every good deed he's done, big and small, have increased his reputation and caught the admiration of the people.
However, that didn't change the situation he's in. He has no place to call home, so he picked an abandoned building in a small neighborhood. As for food, he managed to get some thanks to the money he reluctantly received from the purse-snatching victim, and the driver whose car he stopped. Even though he was reluctant to take them, they sure came in handy when he was hungry. But he needs to be mindful about how much he spends, since he can't expect the people he will save the next day would be as generous as the ones he saved.
Regarding the concern of gathering information, his high-tech wrist gadget, the Webware, was able to catch this world or this country's radio frequencies. Now, he can learn more about this new world, and keep tabs on any possible criminal activity on the police radios' frequencies. So far, he's managing to survive somehow, but time will tell how long he can last, staying in the shadows, and being on the run.
Snapping out of his head, he notices a commotion, and decides to check it out. He lands on the roof of a building and looks down at the crime in progress taking place in a bank. Using the lenses of his high-tech suit, he sees that a bank has been infiltrated by robbers. Lots of them. Some of them are carrying bags full of cash, and keeping watch on the hostages. Meanwhile, outside the bank, the cops along with a few heroes have the building surrounded. He notices an armored car arriving, thinking the captain might be in there. Sending a silent Spider-Drone, he tries to gather information about the villain's demands through their conversation.
The police captain exits the vehicle, and walks to his fellow cops and heroes, who are all waiting for the right course of action.
"What's the situation?" the captain asks.
"We're looking at 25 hostiles, and a group of 20 hostages in total. Based on our spotter, there are only three of them with Quirks. One can generate electricity, another can turn his arms into blades, and their leader has extremely powerful arms. With the hostages in there, we have no means to just walk in there without anyone noticing."
"Did they make any demands?"
"No. They're just holding their ground in there."
After hearing the situation from one of the police, they start brainstorming for options. Thanks to the drone, Spider-Man understands what he needs to do. While the villains are busy with the ground forces, they did not consider that someone could sneak inside from above. He's more than willing to go and say he can help, but then, what's to stop them from trying to catch him when the robbers are restrained. Without drawing any attention, Spider-Man zips to the roof to get a better view of the inside of the bank.
He finds a vent, that is apparently big enough for him to go through, and quietly infiltrate the bank. Once inside, he opens the vent, and moves to a vantage point where no one can see him. His mask's lenses scan the entire layout of the bank, including the positions of the masked guards and the hostages. After that he formulates a plan, before he makes his move.
Meanwhile, the police and the heroes all try to formulate their own course of action, without provoking the robbers and endangering the hostages. The powered leader looks outside while staying behind the wall.
"Dude, this is taking way too long. The pros might be stalling to catches us off guard," says one of the powerless robbers to the leader.
"Chill, if they really care about the hostages, they wouldn't do anything stupid, and neither should we. If we try anything desperate, we'll get ourselves caught, and thrown in jail."
"All that money better be worth it," says the powerless robber again, as he turns his head looking at the number of bags they've stolen.
The hostages all sat in one big group, not saying, or doing anything for fear of their lives. They all desperately pray that a hero would come save them soon. Luckily for them, their prayers have already been answered.
On the second floor, armed robbers are being subdued quietly. One robber hears a noise and moves to investigate. Little did he know that behind him, another robber is being yanked up. Seeing nothing, he turns his head to find that his partner's gone. He turns his head again, and sees a red mask with big black and white eyes, before he gets silently gets knocked out cold. One of the hostages looks around at the armed robbers and her eyes caught Spider-Man knocking out and webbing one of them high up on the wall. Spider-Man notices one of the hostages sees him. He makes a finger in front of his mask, gesturing her to keep quiet. She nods in agreement, before he moves to his next target.
Outside the bank, one of the spotters on the top of another building check again for any more suspicious activity. He keeps scanning the inside, and something caught his attention. Taking his walkie, he informs the captain and the heroes on the ground.
"Hey, Captain. I think there are like few of them in there now."
The captain turns his walkie on, and responds to his spotter.
"What do you mean there are a few of them now? There are 25 of them in total if you include the ones with Quirks."
"I know, but I'm serious, there are less of them in there. I now count, 14 of them."
The spotter keeps looking through his binoculars, and notices movement inside the bank. One of the robbers got yanked upward out of his sight.
"Wait, something's happening in there. Now, there are 10 of them left."
One of the heroes grabbed the walkie.
"Soldier, can you see who's picking them off?"
"Yeah, but he's too fast, I can't get a good read on who it is."
The captain and the heroes beside him are puzzled by the update. Through the binoculars, he continues to tell them what he's seeing. Inside the bank, the entire group of hostages see their savior, but kept quiet as to not foil his rescue attempt.
Now, there are 9 of them.
…8
…7
…then 6.
The robber with the blade-arms Quirk looks around the bank, and notices that there are now few of them in the bank. He tells one of the robbers to call the rest of them. He does so, but no one is responding, making him highly suspicious.
"What's wrong?" the leader asks as he approaches his comrade.
"I don't know, but there seems to be only a few of us in this building. Somebody's here, picking us off."
The hostages start to get worried, but they try to keep their mouths shut until it's safe for them to leave the building. The leader also starts noticing the change in their surroundings. If there's someone in the building, he makes an idea to flush him out. He calls one of the armed robbers to talk to him. After that, the armed robber walks toward the group of hostages, and picks a lady wearing a red office jacket and black high heels. The hostages raise their voice in fear as he violently drags her away from the group. The spotter outside informs the group below of the situation they're now facing.
Hoping to flush out whoever is picking them off, they're using a hostage to raise the stakes. The leader walks to the entrance, and shouts to the police outside.
"You guys really backed us into a corner in here. But did you really think we wouldn't notice one of you trying to get the drop on us?"
"What are you talking about?! We never sent anyone inside!" the captain protests with his megaphone.
"If you're gonna play dumb, fine, I'll play. Here's the deal: back away from our cars, and let us leave or…"
Signaling the robber with the hostage, he aims his gun to the ceiling and starts spraying bullets. Making the hostages scream in fear.
"You get the point."
The tables have turned, and the side in favor is the robbers. Even though they didn't do anything to provoke them, they need a plan, and fast. The robbers then try to raise the stakes even higher. They don't know who's thinning their numbers, but the game has changed for them. If they wait any longer, they might risk getting caught.
"You better make up your minds fast, or else this poor lady's gonna have her brains blown off! I'm giving the count to 5."
As he declares his threat, the armed robber points his gun's nozzle to the hostage's head. The police and the heroes start to panic. A hostage's life is at risk and they don't have any other options. Then, the leader starts counting down.
"1…
2…
3…
4…!"
Before the leader stopped his countdown, Spider-Man yanked the nozzle away from the woman's head, and blinded the armed robber. He was surprised, he let go of her, giving him the opening to drop down to the floor and knock him out with one punch.
Standing upright, he whispers to the woman in front of him.
"Go. Join the others. Tell them to stay on the side until it's over."
The woman glances to the other hostages before she joins them, and tell them what he told her. With no point hiding, Spider-Man turns to the remaining robbers, and stand his ground while protecting the hostages. The two remaining armed hostages get between him and their bosses, pointing their guns at him and ready to fire. Shooting a web-line on each gun, and yanked them so hard they flew to his feet after the robbers let them go. Then, with frightening speed, he dashes to their front before punching one in the face and kicked the other ones. Using his web, he forced one to the floor and web in down. Next, he swept the other one's legs before restraining him too. With the non-powered robbers dealt with, he now has to deal with the powered ones.
The powered robbers stand their ground as they look back at the vigilante in front of them.
"Hmph! You sure gave us a lot of trouble. You've thinned our numbers, but it's three of us against you. You must be pretty cocky if you think you take us all on your own," the leader says, underestimating the wall-crawler.
"I wasn't cocky. I knew I could handle with all three of you. I haven't even broken a sweat."
"Yeah? Well let's see you handle THIS!"
The electrokinetic robber threw a powerful beam of electricity, trying to fry his into a crisp. Then, he stops. Instead of seeing him burned to ashes, the robber sees his still alive and still moving, as if the electricity didn't affect him at all. He gasps in shock from what he's seeing.
"But how?! The amount of voltage I threw is enough to reduce you to ash-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Spider-Man webs his face and violently yanks the robber towards him. The back kicks him to the wall and webs him up.
"DAMN!" the robber growls as he turns his arms into blades, then charges straight at him.
He slashes his blades at him, but misses. He tries again, but gets the same result. With every slash he throws, Spider-Man effortlessly dodges them all with his amazing agility. The hostages watch the fight in awe at the side. Having dodged enough, he punches him in the gut, his face, then finishes him with a capoeira kick – knocking him down for the count, before webbing him down too. The hostages start cheering for the brave vigilante. Now, Spider-Man shifts his attention to the big boss.
Outside the bank, the police and heroes hear the hostages' cheers but they can't see why from the glass.
"That sounds like cheering. Why would they be cheering?" one of the heroes asks.
"I don't know. Spotter, what's the situation?" the captain asks over the walkie.
"Sir, you're not gonna believe this. Someone is in there taking down the villains. And he's winning."
"What?! Can you describe who's fighting them?"
"Um, subject is male. Height estimated to be between 68.0 to 69.5 inches. And he's wearing a sort of skin-tight red and blue suit, with a glowing symbol on the front. Though, I can't tell what his Quirk is from here."
Another one of the heroes asks the captain, "If this guy has the villains on the ropes, why don't we just move in and take him down?"
Then the captain responds.
"I don't think that's a good idea. If whoever is fighting the villains in there got this covered, then I think it's best to let him handle it for now. Any outside interference, and the villains will seize their chance. If all the villains are restrained, or when things take a turn for the worst, we'll charge in. For now, we have to wait."
Back inside the bank, Spider-Man is about to have a face-off with the leader. He holds his fighting stance while waiting for him to make his move.
"Guess it's just you and me now. I'm surprised you managed to manage to do all this yourself. However, I assure you. I am nothing like the guys you've beaten. I will show you why they call me, 'The Crusher!'"
Using his Quirk, his shoulders twitch, and his veins pop into visibility on his skin, as his arms and back bulk up to increase his strength and size.
"That's why they call you 'The Crusher?' Because your arms bulk up and you use them to crush stuff? Why not, 'Mr. Strong Arms?' Or 'Mr. Muscles?' What about, 'Mr. My-Arms-Are-Too-Big?'"
The last quip he said made the hostages giggle, and the villain pop a vein on his head in anger. He charges at the web-head and throws a punch at him. Spider-Man dodges it with a flip, but the villain isn't done. He throws punch after punch only for him to dodge them all, just like when he fought Death Arms. Spider-Man lands his own punches, keeps doing so to his face and torso. When he throws back his punches at him, he just dodges and punches back – continuing his method of dodging and punching until he wears him out. The hostages continue to cheer him on, while they watch.
Spider-Man's method seem to be working – every punch he misses, and every punch he takes continue to drain his stamina, making him tired quickly.
"This must be the drawback of his power. The more strength he gives his arms, the faster his stamina depletes from his body. Guess he didn't practice much, and now his power is working against him. Better wrap this up."
With his analysis, Spider-Man leads the villain to keep wasting his stamina. Then, he stops, trying to catch his breath and feeling light-headed. His vision starts getting hazy because of his exhaustion, giving Spider-Man the opening he needs to throw more punches and kicks at him. The villain helplessly flails his arms around, hitting nothing but air. After one, powerful kick, Spider-Man sends him flying out of the bank for the cops and heroes to see.
Completely exhausted, the villain's Quirk deactivates, returning his body to its normal state. From the bank, comes out Spider-Man, telling the police that all the robbers are restrained, and no harm came to the civilians. The police and the heroes just stare in awe at the lone hero who save the day.
"Wait a minute, I know you! You're that Spider-Man who humiliated three heroes on TV! This guy's a criminal!"
As expected, the law will still go after him, even thought he's the one who did all the work. The police captain sends some of the heroes after him, and immediately, he swings away from the scene – ensuing another chase. The hostages from the bank came pouring out from the entrance. The remaining police and heroes safely escort them out, and move in to cuff the robbers.
The heroes and police chase after him through the city's streets, intent on containing him immediately. But his swinging gives him the advantage to stay ahead and lose them. Spider-Man swings to the side of a tall building, then when the heroes turned, he suddenly vanished. The police and heroes look every corner around the building, including a nearby alley and find nothing. They search around every building neighboring building and back alley for possible hiding spots, checking and double checking – making sure they leave nothing unturned. Little did they know, that Spider-Man managed to give them the slip by changing into his civilian identity, Peter Parker. Since they were far behind him, they had no idea where he could've been and quickly blend with the crowd. With the heat no longer after him, he casually walks away, without looking back.
Later at noon, Peter had just finished eating some ramen from a food stand, then gets back into his liquid-metal suit, and patrolling the city's streets. As delicious the food was, it left him with only less than ¥20 - which is probably enough for him to buy his last proper dinner before he resorts to dumpster diving for food at the back of restaurants. Unless he gets himself a real job, that's probably the only thing he might do to survive.
His Spider-sense triggers, sensing an incoming projectile. Using his web, he dodged it and landed on top of a building. Looking around, he doesn't see anybody. He keeps his guard up. Spider-sense fires again, projectiles coming from above. Spider-Man easily dodges them as the continue raining down on him. When the attack pauses, he sees that the projectiles are… feathers?
Spider-Man tilts his head, confused by how feathers are trying to kill him. Perhaps there is someone with the power to telekinetically control them from a distance. He stops his thinking as he notices the feathers piercing the roof shaking loose and start levitating, before they take aim at him. Once again, the feathers try to hit their target, only for him to dodge them effortlessly. The circle back to hit him again, but missed. The feathers are fast, but thanks to his Spider-sense and super-human speed, he can anticipate their trajectory, and dodge them with ease.
Landing on top of the entrance to the roof – further from the swarm of feathers, he waits for them to charge at him. Spraying his webs, he encases them in a ball, but he missed a few. He quickly dodges again, with the remaining feathers gathered in one place, he sprays another web – pinning them down. Spider-Man takes a breather, but keeps his guard up, as the one manipulating the feathers could be nearby.
"Wow, for a kid, you sure are faster than you look."
Hearing the voice, he looks around to see where it came from. In front of him he notices a shadow, then he looks up. He sees a man with yellow hair, and flying with red wings. Sporting a yellow jacket and pants, black gloves and boots, and transparent yellow goggles. The man descends and lands on the roof, his wings stop flapping.
"Those feathers were just a taste of my Quirk. I had to see what made you such a big deal."
"I know you. You're Hawks: The Wing Hero."
"Oh, I'm honored that someone as famous as you know my name."
"I don't care about fame."
"Yeah, that's what I heard. Stopping robberies, preventing casualties, then this morning, you took out 25 robbers all by yourself. Three of them had Quirks, and they had hostages in that bank. I gotta know, how did you do it all?"
The wing hero sounded like he was feeling giddy, like he's eager to hear his answer. Spider-Man's not sure whether it's to distract him, or he's just curious.
"…The roof.
I went through the roof, using the vents. They were big enough for me to sneak inside without them noticing. Then, I took out the guards one by one, until only a few are left."
"Okay. But then, the villains noticed the decrease in their numbers, and tried to use a hostage. What did you do then?"
"I had the element of surprise, and I prioritized the hostage first. The gunner's finger wasn't on the trigger. So, I disarmed him and knocked him out. Then I handled the rest with my webs and bare hands."
"Wow, man. You're good at infiltration, planning, execution, and adaptation. I can't believe the cops and other heroes didn't consider recruiting you instead of taking you down. And you're still a kid."
"Well, I do aim to please. But now, it's my turn to ask. Are you here to take me in? If not, then what do you want with me?"
Walking to the edge of the roof, Hawks comes up with an answer to his question. Whether he's lying or not depends on this moment's direction.
"Honestly, considering the amount of good you did when you first showed up, I'm not really sure if I should take you in. But you've piqued my interest. You save people without asking for anything in return. When others hesitate, you step in and save the day. I know a hero when I see one. Plus, your fast. Putting you behind bars seems like a waste.
We could use someone with abilities like yours. So, I have a proposal for you. Why don't you join my agency?"
…
…
"Say what?" Spider-Man asks in confusion, and tilts his head.
"He-he-he. If I could see what face you're making, I'd be laughing on my ass right now. I don't just offer a spot in my agency to anyone, you know. I do most of the work myself, in the office and in the field. But I hire some people who could keep up with me. And it gets pretty lonely working in an entire building by myself."
"I get that, but why is something telling me you just hate doing paperwork?" Spider-Man thinks with a sweat drop on the back of his head.
Spider-sense is tingling. Hawks notices his sudden reaction.
"Hm? Something troubling you? If you're worried about money, I can give you-"
"No, something's happening. There's trouble," he says to Hawks, looking around for danger.
"Really? But I don't see, or hear anything," says the Wing Hero.
"There. Over a mile away," Spider-Man says again, pointing at the direction his senses tell him.
"Wait, you can sense danger from that far away? I got good eye-sight, but I couldn't see anything that-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Spider-Man quickly jumps onto the next building, towards the danger he sensed. Hawks, still interested in Peter's abilities, decides to follow him.
Meanwhile…
A young boy walks on the sidewalk, and notices a commotion to the side. He moves in to check it out. Looking between the crowd from the back, his eyes widen in shock. In front of the crowd is a sludge monster, confronted by Kamui Woods, Death Arms, and a few more.
"Wait, that's the guy who attacked me. But that can't be right. All Might captured him."
His mind flashes to his confrontation with the Symbol of Peace. He remembers the monster getting contained in a bottle, before he held on to his idol to talk to him. In his memory, the boy starts to notice that the said bottle containing the monster is missing from his pocket.
"If he dropped it… then that means… it's all my fault."
From the other side from the crowd's back, a skinny person with yellow hair hopelessly watches the scene unfold. He and the boy then hear from one of the people that the monster has caught a person – a kid. From the roof, Spider-Man perches and overheard the situation from some of the civilians. He looks at the sludge monster, and finds it keeping a tight grip on his victim.
"I'm not sure how long that kid's gonna last. I have to loosen its grip on him somehow…"
In the green-haired boy's head, he starts blaming himself.
"I'm the one to blame. All Might wasted his energy on me… I'm sorry…"
The skinny man does the same.
"I'm so worthless… pathetic…"
"Help will come and save the day… I'm sure…"
"I'm not a real hero…"
"Someone… a real hero will come soon…"
The boy watches in horror at scene with his hands covering his mouth. The victim the monster grabbed is struggling still, but his strength is quickly fading, as he keeps running out of air.
All of a sudden, the crowd and the heroes watch in shock, as the boy dashed head-long into the scene. Spider-Man notices the boy as well.
Cue Music: You Say Run – YUKI HAYASHI
Death Arms shout to him, "NO, YOU IDIOT! YOU'RE GONNA GET YOURSELF KILLED!"
The monster notices the boy and turns his attention to him.
"What am I doing? Why am I running? Why can't I stop?"
From the roof, Spider-Man swings down and rushes in beside the boy. He notices the red and blue hero, but doesn't stop his legs.
"Keep running! I'll protect you!" he shouts as he runs in front of him.
Seeing the incoming attacks from the monster, Spider-Man deflects them, clearing a path for the boy behind him. Once he deflected them all, the monster's face is wide open. He leaps in with frightening speed, and punches him hard in the eye – making it flinch in pain and loosen his grip on the hostage.
"KACCHAN!"
With his hands, the green-haired boy starts reaching into the sludge and grabbed his arm. At the same time, Spider-Man is keeping him occupied from above, dodging every attack thrown at him. The sludge was so sticky, even with the grip loosened, it would still require great force to pull the hostage out. The green-hair starts telling him with tears in his eyes.
"Kacchan… I couldn't just stand there and watch you die…"
The monster starts to regain his grip. Spider-Man lands behind the boy, and pulled the hostage free with one hand. Wrapping each arm around each of the boys, he jumps back away from the sludge. Everyone, including the heroes watch with their jaws dropped, as Spider-Man puts the two boys down. He turns his attention back to the sludge monster, ready to attack again.
"RRGH! I don't know who you are, but you made me lose my big score! If I can't have that kid, I'll just kill you all!" the monster roars as it prepares to strike.
Raising his arms in front of his face, Spider-Man braces himself for it. In one swift motion, the sludge slams down, engulfing the scene in smoke.
"I really am pathetic."
The smoke quickly clears, and Spider-Man lowers his arms to find a bulky, muscular man, with golden hair, and a big smile on his face.
"All Might…"
Spider-Man glances back at the boy with green hair, before shifting back to the man before them.
"So, this is All Might. The No.1 Hero in Japan."
Using his buff arm, he pushes the monster back.
"I told you the traits that make a great champion. But I see that I wasn't living up to my own ideals!"
Having freed his arms, All Might prepares to finish the monster off.
"Pros are always risking their lives! That's the true test of a hero!"
The sludge monster tries to attack again, only to be met with the No.1 Hero's finishing blow.
"DETROIT SMASH!"
With one powerful punch, the sludge monster splattered from the immense force. Spider-Man covers the two boys with a web barrier to shield them from the shockwave. The other heroes cover the watching civilians from the powerful gust of All Might's punch, which created a tornado that is visible from above the surrounding buildings. The monster is defeated and the tornado quickly subsided, before rain starts pouring down. Spider-Man stood in amazement. Somehow, it came to his mind that his punch changed the weather. Looking back at the boys he saved, they seem to be exhausted, but both are safe and sound.
Cue Music: All Might's Theme (I Am Here) – YUKI HAYASHI
The crowd cheers in the background at All Might's victory. The latter raises his arm, showing that he won. Behind him, Spider-Man noticed that he wobbled a little, telling him that he was exhausted. Nonetheless, he's glad that this world's No.1 Hero came to save them.
"I guess there really are heroes in this world after all."
Later, the police arrived and received every single amount of sludge that the heroes, including Spider-Man, contained. It didn't take long for the press to step in for an interview, surrounding All Might and Spider-Man. Looking to his side, he sees the green-haired boy sitting on his knees. Walking to his side, the boy looked up at him.
"Hey, kid. That was pretty ballsy of you, what you did earlier. What's your name?" he asks the boy as he squats down to his level.
"Midoriya… Izuku Midoriya."
"Well, Midoriya, as reckless as running into danger was, that was pretty brave of you. Tell me, what encouraged you to do it?"
Fidgeting with his fingers, Izuku tries to collect his thoughts, and explain why he willingly endangered himself to save another. Nearby, All Might listens to the conversation between the two.
"It's… hard to explain. I just stood there in the crowd, and watched helplessly at the Sludge monster… trying to kill Kacchan."
Glancing to his side, he sees the blonde kid sitting with a few reporters, and a hero talking to him. He shifts his attention back to Izuku, as he explains his actions further.
"He looked helpless… he could get himself out. My head was blank, I couldn't think of anything. But then… my body started moving on its own. I couldn't stop… I just… kept running… to try and save him."
Unbeknownst to the boy, there are a few reporters who recorded his words. They stayed silent, waiting for either one of them to say something else. All Might continues listening in the background.
"Hey, you. You sure have guts stepping into the fire like that. You may have rescued the kids, but that was still very reckless," says Death Arms, as he and Kamui approach the two from the side.
"Same goes to you kid. Did you have a death wish? There is absolutely no reason for you to put yourself in danger like that," Kamui Woods adds.
Spider-Man glances at the boy in front of him, eyes shut tight, feeling guilty for running into danger.
"Perhaps, but that's missing the point. He may not have the training and experience you all have. But that didn't stop him from running to save someone's life. He had to do something, while the rest of us stood to the side, waiting for a miracle to happen. He may not be a Pro, but he has qualities that only a few people possess."
Spider-Man stands up, and resumes his speech.
"Ask yourselves this:
If All Might hadn't been around, are you just going to stand on the sidelines just because your power doesn't match the situation your facing? Are you just going to wait for other heroes from far away to come help you? Knowing that when they arrive, the sludge would've already killed the kid before he could be saved?"
The heroes in front of him and in the background play the said situation in their heads. They try to come up with their own answers, but they said nothing. The people in the crowd look at each other, asking the same questions.
"As people who are gifted with abilities, and dedicated to save lives, there is no doubt that none of you would be able to live with yourselves, knowing that you allowed someone to die right in front of you. You were thinking with your powers, not your minds.
In fire, rain, or snow. With or without powers. If you see someone in need, build your courage. Because all it takes for someone, anyone to be a hero, is to take a Leap of Faith."
The heroes, reporters, the crowd, the two kids, especially All Might stood in silence after hearing his short, but heartfelt speech. Hearing that anyone can be a hero, regardless of whether or not you possess a Quirk, seemed unusual in this world's current era. Spider-Man looks back down to the boy, who looks back up at him. With nothing else to say, he leaps away over a building, then swings away from the scene. Nearby, on top of another building was Hawks. He stayed hidden, listened to the wall-crawler's speech to the people below.
"Well said, kid. It seems that things are about to get a little more interesting."
It's sunset. After foiling another crime, Spider-Man swings back to his hideout. Changing out from his suit, he prepares to head out to find a food stand for his last dinner. He goes to an old drawer to get what little money he has left, but what he finds is a stuffed small envelope. He takes it and opens to see what's inside. Peter's eyes widen in shock and disbelief. Inside the envelope is lots of cash. He counts the amount to a whopping ¥20,000! After counting the money, he finds something else inside. A note. He takes it out and reads the words in his mind.
Keep the cash. You need it.
They should last for at least a month.
Don't hesitate to come and find me.
My agency is open for you anytime.
- Hawks
He looks at the orange sky through the window, thanking the Wing Hero in his mind, before he sets out to find himself a good place to have dinner. Unbeknownst to him, he's being watched from a distance, by a man with long hair and a scarf, accompanied by a tall, muscular woman with a white suit, and bunny ears.

- As I wrote this chapter, I realized that the Sludge Villain attack took place in the same day as Mount Lady's debut in the anime's first episode. Missed opportunity on my part.
- Peter's words after he saved Midoriya was kept short, but I made sure they still drive home his beliefs. Let me know in the reviews what you think of his speech.
- At first, I was gonna have Peter find himself a job since he's short on cash, but instead, I brought Hawks into the mix and have him leave some cash for Peter. It felt kind of wrong to have Peter get a job, because I'm afraid he might get too disconnected from the MHA Story. Let me know your thoughts in the reviews.
