Dear Journal,
What fun I had with my partner tonight, though when I hang out with her, I sometimes don't know what to expect. We had just finished a akuma fight and I was about to head home when she asked me if I'd like to get some hot chocolate from Leo's. "My Lady?" I was delighted of course she wanted to hang out, but usually patrols are for strictly for patrolling. "Yeah, it's kind of chilly out tonight and it'd be fun to hang out."
It was hard to tell because the sun had already set when we finished, but was there a faint flush on her pretty cheeks? Laughing, we raced each other there. "No fair, you have longer legs!" She laughs just as my foot touches the door before hers. "Guess I have some luck on my side tonight," I grin and I hold the door open for her.
Leo is delighted to see us and we pick a back table. "That was fun," she tells me as she sips her drink. "My Lady?" She turns look at me, her bluebell eyes bright and curious. "What do you think makes a good partner?" She thinks for a moment or two. "I think one of the most imporant is commution. If we didn't make a plan together, we would be confused and lose."
We had a time were we went through that, her pushing me away, because she wanted to protect me. I didn't understood at the time, and we had some the worst arguments ever. "I think that actually made us stronger," she says, as if she can read my thoughts. "I wanted to tell you about Cat Blanc, but I was held back by the truma, and I found it easier to replace you."
"Promise me," I whisper, "that we won't keep secrets expect for our identies." She looks surprised. "Aren't you the one who always wants to know?" I would love to know who my best friend and partner is behind the mask, but if Monarch capture one of us, we would gladly give up our Miraculous to free the other.
"Cat, I haven't said this as often as should," Ladybug says, "but I really do appericate your humor and you being a good listener." she lowers her voice. "There are days when the only thing I can think of is patrol because I know I get to talk to you." she sighs. "I've been struggling with confidence for awhile, and I don't feel like myself."
I will admit it has been awhile since I have seen that confident little smirk on M'lady's face, but after what she went through? I don't blame her. "If only-" she stops, and begins again as if she changing her words. "If only I wouldn't have miskaten Felix for Adrien Agreste." I squeeze her hand, why did my cousin betray her? What is it he wants? "We all make miskates, love." She rests her head on my shoulder. I stroke her hair softly, and I can feel her body relaxing. "You know, when I'm feeling stressed, I take a walk. Care to join me?" she nods.
We say goodbye to Leo, and Paris is quiet in the moonlight. Then something unexpected happens. Its just a brush at first, then Ladybug's hand curls around my own. "You don't mind do you, Cat Noir?" My heart bumps a little in my chest as I shake my head. We find a deserted patch of sidewalk stopping to stare at the moon. "Cat," Ladybug says softly and I turn to look at her. "Could I kiss you?" Her voice is like a whisper of wind, and for a moment I wonder if I even heard right. "Of course, M'lady. My only suggestion though is that we duck under this awning."
I don't want some fancy camera crew showingcasing our kiss. Though I dreamed about this moment, my hands get a bit sweaty and I can feel my heart beating in my chest. Her lips are soft, tasting like a sun-kissed strawberry picked at dawn. I pull her closer, and she weaves her hands through my hair, tasting my lips. "You taste like mint, Kitty." "Oh, and not like catnip?" She smiles, her perfect teeth glowing in the moonlight. "Hey, that's better then tuna."
My mouth drops open. "My Lady! How dare you mock the tuna!" I grin at her. She playfully punches my arm. "If you had eaten tuna, do you really think I would want a kiss?"
Okay, she has a point. "If that's all it took to get a kiss from you, I would have stopped eating tuna long ago." She takes my hands in hers. "We've been talking about partners, and I think we're more then that."
Maybe all those little looks and smiles and shared little jokes, meant something to her, and at last she's fallen. "M'lady, I would be honored if I could call you my girlfriend." "Okay. But one yowl and I'm outta here." I stick out my lip in a little pout. "Are you pouting? You look adorable."
"But Bugaboo, yowling is what cats do!" She raises her eyebrow at me. " I could think of much better ways for you to use your talents."
The moon has disappeared now, and a light rain is falling as we wait for it to past. We sit down and she puts her head on my lap, and I feel a delighted purr bubbling up from my chest.
"I love your purr," she said, as we both stare out and the gently falling rain. "So, if we're going out now, does that mean I can take you to a movie?" I've been wanting to take her to a movie forever. "Yeah, but your buying popcorn." "Is it tuna flavored?" I press a kiss to her head.
"Cat Noir! Gross!"
We laugh in the rain, a happy feeling washing over both us. "Cat?" Ladybug asks. "Hm?" "I'm so glad we're partners." "Yeah, me too, Bugaboo. Me too."
