A/N: Read the A/N at the bottom because I can't give much away up here.
The man screamed in frustration as he slammed his fist the ground, sending a massive shockwave scattering across the moor.
He looked at where the portal had been, carrying his 3 worst enemies to wherever their destination was.
Suddenly, there were several cracks, the sound of apparitions.
"How many?" The man seemingly asked, no one.
The enforcers, already accustomed to his nonsensical musings, readied for battle. After all, he had been an enemy of the republic for over 3 centuries, seemingly never aging, just as their leaders, Titania, Oberon and Lightbringer.
Unbeknownst to the 7000 enforcers that had apparated into the area, a raspy voice began hesitantly into his ear, "I am afraid the price is rather high, master… I do not have enough to do what you bid for."
The man growled, "Give me numbers and I will give you souls." It sent shivers down the enforcers spines as they readied to attack with their magitech.
"For the republic!" A leading commander cried.
"FOR THE REPUBLIC!" The voice of several thousand boomed as they charged.
"10 000 souls." The raspy voice whispered as the kneeling man got up from his previous position.
A twitch of his hand snapped the neck of one of the enforcers.
The man smiled, one born of bloodthirst, grief…
And Death.
(BREAK)
20th December 1992,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. A name that came with the 2 masteries he held for the man known as Albus P. W. B. Dumbledore, born Albus Percival Dumbledore. He was a man of many talents, with an emphasis in Alchemy and Transfiguration. He was also known for defeating the Dark Lord Grindelwald, the only man that Voldemort ever feared, Codswallop as his old friend Alastor liked to say, and, of course, one should never forget his famous lemon drops!
Currently, the man of many talents stared down his half-moon glasses at the 4 tables of eating students, animatedly chatting with their group of friends. However, while he was looking at his students, his focus was on Harry Potter, the boy-who-lived.
Now, young Harry was a remarkable young man with several great friends, such as Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom and Ronald Weasley. They have their obvious flaws with the muggleborn girl, not that he discriminates in such a way, have a high-opinion on authoritarian figures such as himself and thinks the every rule is carved in stones, not guidelines. Neville Longbottom had severe confidence issues. Ronald Weasley… was Ronald Weasley. The boy was one of the laziest boys since Lazarus the Lazy with a mean jealous streak that cannot be matched by many.
Meanwhile, Harry Potter… The boy was an enigma to him. Why someone so bright and brilliant seemed content for average grades, apart from Defense against the Dark Arts where the boy seems to shine, was a mystery to him. A patronus at the age of 13… Even he couldn't do a patronus until the age of 21. And the boy took the Divination of all things! It was probably at the behest of Ronald Weasley for an 'easy O'. Yes, while this might make revealing the prophecy slightly easier, the boy would probably take it with the grain of salt, considering the seer who delivered the prophecy was a 'fake'.
Harry Potter glanced towards the Slytherin table. He still wondered if he had made the right decision, taking her on. Yes, they signed a magical dentete but the girl would probably find a way around it. Perhaps, he should bac- BOOM!

Albus frowned as he felt a small spark of magic hovering in the air. Slowly starting to expand, he saw a blue spark fall from the air, at the exact point where the magic was building up.
Albus slid the Elder Wand into his hand as he discretely sent a diagnostic charm towards the slowly building vortex.
That proved to be a mistake because the magic was immediately sucked into the magical anomaly and it grew exponentially. The elderly man tensed.
But it need not be as he was knocked off his feet when the air around the magical vortex exploded with a large BOOM!
(BREAK)
Neville Longbottom… That was his name. He was also known as Lightbringer, the executor and knight of the Lord Oberon and Lady Titania. He coughed out the dust as he looked up to find several wands pointing at them, at the other end of the wand were several familiar undead faces, both wanted and unwanted. He felt several silencing and privacy wards flare up.
"Did we do it?" Oberon asked, his red hair covered with dust, realizing there were no answers, "Lightbringer!"
"I believe we did." Lightbringer answered slowly, "Perhaps, you might want to look for yourself."
Oberon looked up.

Hogwarts… It was strange being back at Hogwarts for Oberon, or as he was known then, Ronald Bilius Weasley. His wife sat, dazed near him, still taking in the fact that Hogwarts was still standing. Yes, while they had palaces, mansions and whatnot, they never managed to replicate the welcome feelings of Hogwarts. He saw a very familiar black wand that had taken several of his loved ones away and his eyes flashed with anger, but he ruthlessly suppressed it. Now was not the time for it. They had just escaped him.
"Who are you?" A voice that he had heard from portraits for the past 3 centuries boomed, demanding and unrelenting.
Oberon raised his hands in surrender as he placated, "We mean you no harm. My name is rather unimportant currently. But we have just escaped from a gruesome death by a dark wizard. Therefore, I humbly request for sanctuary at Hogwarts."
Several of the teachers tensed. It was only fair after all. He looked nothing like his 14 year old self. His hair was long and tied into a ponytail. His face was marred by a curse scar, received while fighting the Dark Lord. His arms bulky from all the training he received and a nundu incisor hanging from his left ear, he looked like a cooler version of his long-deceased older brother Bill.
"I am afraid you have left me at an impasse, Mr?"
"Oberon, call me… Oberon."
Albus frowned, that was the name of the fairy king.
"Mr. Oberon… You barged into one of the most secure facilities through unknown means, I might add, and-"
"Hem Hem," An obnoxiously sugary voice interrupted.
"Ah, yes. I must introduce my fellow staff. This is Prof- High Inquisitor Delores Umbridge, Professor Severus Snape, Professor Minerva Mcgonagall, Professor Filius Flitwick, Professor Pomona Sprout, Professor Aurora Sinistra, Unfortunately, Professor Septima Vec-"
"Hem Hem" The voice interrupted much more forcefully this time.
"-tor and Professor Firenze cannot join us today as they have a couple of errands to run. However, this brings me back to the point," Albus Dumbledore paused, looking peeringly at them through steely blue eyes, "Why? Why should I allow you into Hogwarts, someone none of us seem to know, seemingly at nothing but a request?"
"We have knowledge." Oberon's wife, Titiana, or as she was known at birth, Hermione Jean Granger, bargained, "This can be an exchange, knowledge for sanctuary. Please, Professor Dumbledore, I assure you won't regret-"
"Hem He~"
"Do you need a cough drop, High Inquisitor Umbridge?" Titania snapped, her irritation at a high. This earns a surprised but pleased gasp from Professor McGonagall, a raised eyebrow from Dumbledore and a sneer from Snape.
"No," Umbridge smiled sweetly, "But, I would like to make a teensy interruption. This is a ministry-controlled institution and-"
"A neutral ground that the Ministry of Magic has no right to interfere in," Titania cut off, her occlumency had improved since the time they had formed the Republic, that also meant that she remembered every single page of Hogwarts: A History and many books pertaining to the law of the 20th century.
Umbridge narrowed her small eyes but huffed and said nothing.
"And that brings us back to our point." Albus politely took over, hoping to dissolve the situation, "Would you mind giving a… sample?"
Oberon, his impulsive side showing, opened his mouth, "We-"
A hand had come over his mouth, blocking his words.
"Excuse my husband," Titania smiled a wry smile as she glared at the man in question, who, and rather wisely too, wilted under it, "We are willing to give you a sample but, perhaps, we might want to move it to your office."
"Whatever you want to say, I am sure you wouldn't mind saying in front of a ministry employee," Umbridge smiled.
Titania just looked at Umbridge blandly, before raising an eyebrow at Albus, asking a silent question.
"Why, of course?" Albus smiled, "Let's go, shall we?"
(BREAK)
"Now, would you tell me what your name is, now that there is no one here to eavesdrop?"
"Well… correct me if I am wrong but the year is 1995?"
"Yes, but how would you not," Albus' eyes widened, "Time-travelers."
"From the future," Oberon nodded, with a grim smile on his face.
"But, then… who are you? New recruits?" Albus questioned.
"Oh no, I am sure you remember me quite well, Professor." Oberon chuckled, "After all that food I stuffed down myself in the halls, I wonder how much galleons the school had to spend on me alone."
"Ronald Weasley!" Albus exclaimed, his eyes lighting up in recognition as he finally assessed the man in front of him, "But that means Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom?"
Lightbringer grinned, his brown eyes shining with mischief, "At your service, Professor Dumbledore."
"What happened that could have been so bad? Surely, Voldemort was destroyed in the future by Harry."
This time, Titania grimaced, "Yes, P- Harry did destroy Voldemort. Only a new Dark Lord rose 2 decades later."
"What- Who was the new Dark Wiz-" He was cut off as the elder wand, exploded into a capahony of black flames.
He looked up to see that pale faces of Neville Longbottom, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger.
"He's here." Titania whispered fearfully.

Charon looked at the veil of death curiously as he tried to comprehend what he was reading. His subordinates, Unspeakable #47, #52 and #79 were scrambling around, trying to find the archives of readings similar to those of the current moment. When the reading spiked and the veil fluttered furiously, Death hit the emergency button, requesting for reinforcements of the other departments, as he feared for the worse.
The readings in his diagnostic charm kept climbing exponentially before the charm failed, going out with a couple of sparks.
The veil fluttered for several seconds before a figure landed gracefully, in a one-kneed kneeling position, his head down. Charon, Croaker and Traveller entered, along with 7 more unspeakables that weren't department heads.
"Intruder, surrender yourself for scan and mindwipe. Or be eliminated." Croaker ordered, his wand at the ready, his voice shaking slightly, something about the man set him off.
The man raised his head and smiled cruelly. His bright green eyes flashed white.

Massacre at the Department of Mysteries
By Rita Skeeter
Yesterday, this reporter recieved a tip from her many sources that there was a massacre at the mysterious department. The mysterious Unspeakables were extremely tightlipped about the situation. This reporter speculates that an accident has happened that released a dangerous monster into our peaceful world.
However, the Minister had this to say, "Sirius Black was probably the cause of this massacre. There were rumors of a device to revive the dead in the department, and Black wanted to revive You-Know-Who, to fuel the rumors spread by Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore."
Which one is it? Is Black working with Harry Potter, the boy who lies, and Albus Dumbledore, the senile headmaster of Hogwarts, a school that was rapidly falling in standards, only saved by the ministry's reforms? Or is there a monster in our wake that the Department of Mysteries does not want us to know about? This reporter asks the public to demand answers from our mysterious friends.

A/N: If you never knew this, I used to go by a different author name, Aharrypotterfan. Unfortunately, I forgot both the email and password to that acc when I hard-reset the laptop. And, I decided to try a new style of writing. To be honest, I am currently trying to combine most of my old fanfictions into a single, better fanfictions. But, this extract is the hybrid of A Deathly Chance(This one has not been updated at all because of my writing problems and The Black Wands(A derivative of Paid in Blood by Zatanna02). I am working on the plot in my brain and have not written it down yet, but the next extract's plot is in progress. My brain works in very very weird ways, so do excuse me for thinking of other plots while writing a fanfic. I promise to continue writing Power of Intent.
A/N: This is not exactly an entire fanfiction. It is more of a teaser for what is to come. And to show you many of the ideas I have. You guys can tell me, which story interest you more and I can start working plots on it.
A/N: Oh, and, requests are taken here... either as full one-shots or teasers.
A/N: There was a request at Power of Intent and I would like to tell the reviewer(mirenes77) that I am currently working a plot for it, obviously its going to only be a teaser here. But, it might blow into a full story if it gets sufficient reviews and I finish writing it's plot. This is Arcturus Aries Black writing, Enjoy the extract and review. Peace!
