Written for GoChi Summer Fun event!
I hope you enjoy it!
Her dark eyes gazed up at the starry sky through her bedroom window as the cool breeze on that summer night caressed her bare skin, which was clad only in a simple pink silk nightgown, her loose hair swaying in the wind's swell that she sometimes had to bring her fingers to her face to control and move out of her sight. She then felt strong, warm arms took her around her small torso. She smiled, still admiring that painting drawn in the sky, and leaned her head against the chest that accommodated her as she caressed the same arms with her fingertips.
Chichi murmured at the cozy feeling of being in her beloved husband's arms and Goku smiled before sharing a soft kiss on the hollow of her neck. It felt good to be like this, close to his beautiful wife again, to feel the warmth and smell of her body. How he had missed that.
It had been more than a month since Goku had returned from Yardrat. Chichi's arm had healed and her mood had improved as well. They had resolved their issues, and after much talking, tears and explanations, they had both reached an understanding. Chichi understood the reasons why Goku had stayed away all that time and forgave him. There was no way she could not forgive him. She loved him after all, and nothing in the world would ever change that. Not even all those new discoveries about his true origin, because none of it would change who he was inside, neither his pure heart nor his personality. She had also already accepted the idea of Gohan training together with Piccolo, the monster who had kidnapped him right after her beloved husband had died in the fight with his Sayan brother. It was useless. That was a losing battle, her hands were tied, for Gohan had become attached to Piccolo in a way she still couldn't understand, but one day, she hoped, she would. She would always do anything and everything for the good of her family and this time would be no different.
The comfortable silence that hung in the air was broken when, curious, Goku asked: "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," she answered softly that maybe if he didn't have extraordinary hearing he wouldn't have heard her. "Just the stars. The sky is beautiful today, isn't it?"
Goku then decided to look in the same direction as her and that's when he noticed how starry the sky really was, lit up, full of bright points that adorned the screen as if a million fireflies were landing on a dark blanket. Goku tightened his embrace around her and whispered in her ear: "It looks beautiful indeed."
It was a unique sight and one that he had missed a lot, but even more, he had missed admiring that landscape next to her, his beloved wife.
Living in those mountains had many advantages, and that was one of them. Goku had traveled the world from end to end, but he had never seen any place in the world that compared to his home. Dear Kami, he had even traveled through space and nowhere had he ever found such beauty as there was there.
In the other world, while he had been dead, there was no night, so they had no stars to see. While in Yardrat there were not many stars in the sky, and the few that he had the opportunity to see during his period there, reminded him of the times he had spent making love to Chichi under a starry sky. It made him miss her even more, miss his son, miss his home.
It was a difficult moment, but what comforted him was to know that wherever Chichi was, she would be looking at the stars and also thinking of him, waiting for him. Both she and Gohan. His family!
Oh, he felt so lucky to have Chichi in his life and to be loved by her. He knew that she had been through a lot these past few years, so many ups and downs that made her suffer a lot. But he knew she was a strong woman, it couldn't be any different, she was married to him, right?
Goku giggled silently. Maybe he was the one who was strong because he was married to her. She was his safe haven after all. And he was extremely grateful for all that Chichi had done for him, for his marriage and his family.
"I missed you so much, Chi." he commented softly, brushing his nose against her ear. "You and Gohan!"
"We missed you too, sweetheart. I'm glad you're back..."
At that moment Goku took the opportunity to pull out of his pocket a small object. An object he had been saving for some time but was waiting for the best moment to give it to her.
"I have something for you..."
He then put his right hand out in front of her body holding the shiny object in the center of his hand.
Chichi's eyes widened in surprise. "Goku!"
She took her hands to his, where there was a necklace with a pendant: a shiny but rough little stone. It was not polished, but its shape was very similar to a star.
During Goku's time in Yardrat, while training to control his new level of power, he had come across a large crater where there was a meteorite that had fallen on the planet some years ago. Curious about the shiny object, he went to it and found some shards that had separated from the meteorite, and among them was a little star-shaped stone that caught his attention.
He found that little piece of stone very beautiful and remembered the jewelry that Chichi used to wear on special occasions. It was small, delicate and discreet, just the way she liked it. He then decided to take the little stone with him and asked one of the inhabitants of Yardrat to make it into a pendant for a necklace.
"I hope you like it!" Goku said, smiling.
"Oh, my Kami, Goku! It's beautiful!"
"Do you really like it?" he asked as he turned her around to look at his wife's beautiful, black, sparkling orbs. "It's nothing fancy like diamond or..."
"I love it, sweetie!" Chichi hugged him tightly, cutting him off in mid-sentence. She didn't care about things of value. Goku was not the type to buy gifts, so she valued every little gesture, no matter how simple.
The warrior smiled and took her by the lips in a soft, but immensely passionate kiss. He was glad that Chichi had liked it. He didn't want to give it to her while she was still angry with him, too much had happened since he returned to Earth, so he tried to avoid making her think that he was only giving her a gift to make amends with her, so he waited and found a special moment to hand it over.
He turned her back to him again and took the necklace in his hands to place around Chichi's neck, who lifted her hair so that give him more access. Goku then began by saying: "I found this little stone there in Yardrat and remembered that you love to look at the stars..." as soon as he finished placing it, he placed a kiss on her neck and continued, "So now you have a real little star that came from the sky and that you will always be able to see!"
Chichi put both hands on the pendant that hung on her chest where she could also feel her heart beating fast, alive, happy with the words she had heard, and then she turned to Goku with watery eyes and a silly smile on her lips. Her Goku really was an amazing man.
He closed his eyes as he rested his forehead against hers and hugged her around the waist. He felt her arms wrap around his neck and heard her whisper, as a sincere and pure admission: "I love you."
Goku smiled sideways and opened his eyes again, gazing now at the beautiful black pearls of his beloved. He sealed her soft lips with his own and then said back: "I love you too."
And during that starry night, they loved each other intensely again.
Note: Slightly inspired by The Big Bang Theory, where Howard bought a star necklace and took it into space when he went on a NASA mission, only to bring it back and give it to Bernadette, so that she could have a star that had once really been in the sky. He isn't my favorite in the series, but I must confess that he does very cute and amazing things for Bernadette at times
