The day was Sunday morning. 8:00 AM. Why was this day so important? CEO of the Warner Bros. studio, Thaddeus Plotz, was hosting his bi-weekly meeting with the cast of Animaniacs. During these meetings, all that was talked about was business-related stuff, although sometimes other things were discussed, like news about the reboot (even though most of the cast aside from the Warners and Pinky and the Brain weren't even in it). Jordan Monroe was there as well. Since Mr. Plotz was nice enough to let him attend, he took these opportunities to watch everything that went on. It wasn't boring to him or anything.
"Okay, everyone, for this meeting, I'm going to try something new. To make sure you're all here, I'll be doing roll call. I have your names listed on this attendance sheet." Mr. Plotz said.
Jordan had a look of surprise on his face.
Reminds me of all my substitute teachers I've had over the years.
Mr. Plotz started roll call. "Yakko?"
"Here!"
"Wakko?"
"Here!"
"Dot?"
"Here!"
"Dr. Scratchansniff?"
"Here."
"Heloise?"
"Here."
"Ralph?"
"Present!"
"Pinky?"
"Here! Zort!"
"Brain?"
"Present."
"Bobby?"
"Yo!"
"Pesto?"
"Right here."
"Squit?"
"Here!"
"Slappy?"
"Present."
"Skippy?"
"Here!"
"Rita?"
"Present."
"Runt?"
"Here!"
"Mindy?"
"Here!"
"Buttons?"
"Woof!"
"Katie?"
"YOLO!"
"Minerva?"
"Present."
"Newt?"
"I am here."
"Flavio?"
"Here."
"Marita?"
"Present!"
"Chicken Boo?"
"Squak!"
"Colin?"
"Here."
"The Flame?"
"Present!"
"Mr. Skullhead?"
Mr. Skullhead held up a sign that said, "Here."
"And The Mime?"
The Mime gave a thumbs up, indicating that he was present.
"Alright, everybody's here. Now we can begin the meeting." Mr. Plotz said.
"Wait, Mr. Plotz, before we do, is it okay with you if I chew a piece of bubble gum?" Katie asked.
"Yeah, that's fine. Just try not to let your bubble blowing distract us." Mr. Plotz responded.
"I'll try not to." Katie said. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pack of Hubba Bubba. She opened the lid and took a piece, then put it in her mouth. "Would anyone else like a piece?"
"I would like one, please." Dr. Scratchansniff said.
Katie took another piece of gum and gave it to Dr. Scratchansniff. "Here you go!"
"Thank you." Dr. Scratchansniff said, putting the gum in his mouth.
"Jordan, would you like a piece?" Katie asked.
"Oh, no thanks." Jordan said.
Katie nodded and put the Hubba Bubba back in her pocket.
Mr. Plotz scratched his forehead. "Now we can start the meeting. As you may know, a new sound stage is in the process of built. It's been in construction for nearly a week."
"I wonder if we'll be able to go inside once it's done." Yakko said.
"I would imagine so, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, the reason why I'm telling you this is because the new sound stage will be much bigger in size than the other ones." Mr. Plotz said.
"Exactly how much bigger?" Wakko asked.
"I have no idea. It could be just a little bit bigger, or a lot bigger, I don't know." Mr. Plotz said.
"Let's hope for a lot bigger." Dot said, crossing her fingers.
"They said that the new sound stage will have better acoustics than the other ones, from what I've heard." Mr. Plotz said.
"They?" Dr. Scratchansniff asked in confusion.
"The construction workers I meant. While they were in the process of building it, they told me they were hoping for better acoustics." Mr. Plotz said.
Jordan was trying to process what he was hearing. This stuff was interesting to him.
"I'm sure lots of great movies and TV shows will utilize the new sound stage." Hello Nurse said.
"It's to be guaranteed. Well, I don't have anything else to add. Just wanted to tell you all about the new sound stage that's being built. You're free to go!" Mr. Plotz said.
Jordan was surprised how short the meeting was. He expected it to be way longer.
Wow, that was quick.
The cast of Animaniacs got up from their seats at the table and left the office, followed by Jordan.
"Bye, Jordan!" Katie called.
"Bye!" Jordan said, waving.
After making his way to the lot, Jordan ran up to the Warners to catch up to them. "Hey, guys!"
The Warners turned around instantaneously. "Hi, Jordan!" They said at the same time.
"What are you guys up to?" Jordan asked.
"Not much. We were gonna go home right now." Yakko said.
"Oh. I was about to ask if you wanted to see a movie together or something." Jordan said.
"A movie sounds great, actually." Wakko said.
"I agree. Sitting at home gets boring after a while anyway." Dot said.
"Well then, we're going to the movies now?" Jordan asked.
"Yup!" Yakko said. He then reached into his hammerspace and pulled out four segways.
Jordan pulled out his phone and texted his mom, Barbara.
"Do you mind if I see a movie with the Warners?"
"No, of course not! Have fun!"
"Thanks."
Jordan locked his phone and put it back in his pocket. He and the Warners hopped on the segways.
"Ready to go?" Yakko asked.
"Yeah." Jordan said.
The Warners and Jordan rode to a movie theater that was closest to them. They parked the segways by the fence and got off of them.
"You guys have any idea as to what movie we're gonna see?" Wakko asked.
"I got none." Dot responded.
"Same. All I know is that I don't wanna see a comedy or horror movie. I'm not a big fan of either one of those genres." Jordan said.
Yakko thought for a moment. "How 'bout a musical?"
"I like musicals!" Wakko said.
"Me too." Dot said.
"I do, too. I remember seeing The Sound of Music performed by my school last year." Jordan said.
"I don't think this theater's showing that, but we'll find something to watch." Yakko said.
The Warners and Jordan walked to the ticket booth.
Meanwhile, by the garbage cans, triplet teenage boys were standing there, watching in the distance.
"Was that that Monroe kid you were talking about?" The first boy asked.
"Yep, that's him. He goes to our school." The second boy said.
"Not anymore he won't, not after we run his sorry ass outta town." The third boy said.
"How exactly are we gonna do that?" The first boy asked.
"You ask too many questions, Will." The second boy said, annoyed.
"Hey, don't talk to your brother like that!" The third boy said.
"You're not my dad, Johnny!" The second boy snapped.
"Alright, Sam, Johnny, that's enough! Back to what were saying. When Monroe arrives at school tomorrow morning, the three of us will gave him what's coming to him. Kapeesh?" Will asked.
"Sounds like a plan to me." Sam said.
"Dad will be so proud!" Johnny said excitedly.
After the Warners and Jordan got their tickets, they entered the movie theater. The four walked up to the snack bar.
"What can I get you guys?" The cashier asked with a smile.
"Uh, four large tubs of popcorn please. Extra butter." Yakko said.
"You got it!" The cashier said. She put equal amounts of popcorn in four tubs, as well as butter, and handed them to the four. Yakko paid for everything.
"Enjoy your movie!" The cashier said.
The Warners and Jordan went to grab napkins before heading to Auditorium #6.
"How come we didn't get drinks?" Jordan asked.
"The prices on them were way too high. I wasn't gonna spend forty bucks total." Yakko said.
"Understandable." Jordan said while eating popcorn.
The four sat down at their seats. Surprisingly enough, the theater they were in wasn't too crowded.
"I hope the movie's good." Wakko said with his mouth full.
"Me too. It seems like most movie musicals nowadays are too predictable, aside from Disney's of course." Dot said.
"You have to give them credit for trying, though." Yakko said.
After what seemed like a plethora of previews, the movie started. The opening credits was an overture, as all musicals had one. The group found the songs to be catchy so far.
"So far, I'm liking the songs." Jordan whispered.
"Me too." Yakko whispered while eating his popcorn.
After the opening credits, the first scene dissolved into the main protagonist singing about the most cliché things ever. This disappointed the group.
"Wow." Was all Wakko could say.
"What a let-down." Dot mused.
"I don't know why I thought this would be different." Yakko whispered, shaking his head in disapproval.
"I guess it's what we get for expecting the best, not the worst." Jordan whispered.
Despite being disappointed with the first scene, the group managed to get through all two hours of the film, which they were honestly surprised about.
After the movie was over, the group left the movie theater.
"I gotta say, that movie was such a disappointment!" Yakko said, a little upset.
"Right? Ugh, it was not what I expected it to be." Wakko said.
"As soon as the girl started singing, I knew it was gonna be a flop." Dot said.
"What a shame. The songs in the opening credits were very catchy, too. Hmph." Jordan said.
The Warners and Jordan hopped on to their segways and rode off.
Meanwhile, Will, Sam, and Johnny were still hanging around. It's like they wanted to look for trouble.
"Monroe just passed by us. I wonder why he didn't notice us." Will said.
"I don't know, it's strange. And those three kids that were with him, I wonder what they're doing with him." Sam said.
"They must be his friends or somethin'." Johnny said.
"Whatever they are, they ain't human, that's for damn sure." Will said.
"Monroe's gonna pee his pants when we scare him out of here." Sam said.
"Yeah, he'll never want to show his face in this town again!" Johnny said.
[The lot]
The Warners and Jordan arrived back at the lot. They got off the segways and the oldest Warner sibling put them back in his hammerspace.
"Hey, Jordan, would you like to hang out with us in the water tower?" Yakko asked.
"I'd love to, Yakko, but I'm afraid I can't. I better get home before my mom sends a search party out for me." Jordan said.
"We understand. Either way, it was nice spending time with you." Wakko said.
"Likewise. I had fun, even if the movie we saw sucked." Jordan said.
"That's what made today fun after all." Dot said.
Jordan giggled. "I'll see you guys around."
"Bye, Jordan!" The Warners said at the same time, waving.
Jordan waved back and walked across the street.
The Warners themselves climbed up the water tower and entered, closing the door on their way in.
The following morning, the alarm clock placed on Jordan's nightstand went off. He woke up and stretched. He then climbed out of bed and entered the living room.
"Good morning!" Barbara said.
"Good morning, Mom." Jordan said while yawning.
"I forgot to ask you this yesterday, how was the movie?" Barbara asked.
"It sucked." Jordan said very straightforward.
Barbara made a face. "Why?"
"To put things in perspective, as soon as the main character started to sing, it was the rock bottom moment that it was gonna be bad." Jordan said.
"Oh dear! I assume he or she sang about all the clichés imaginable." Barbara said.
"Yep, that's exactly what she sang about. She had a great voice, but even that couldn't save the film." Jordan said.
"Well, that's a bummer." Barbara said.
"Indeed." Jordan said while sitting at the coffee table next to his mom. He began eating breakfast.
"How are the Warners doing?" Barbara asked.
"They're good. They told me to tell you that they said hi to you." Jordan said.
"Tell them I said hi back." Barbara said with a smile.
"Will do. Speaking of which, they told me that a serial killer escaped jail and was going after Minerva Mink." Jordan said.
Barbara almost choked on her drink when she heard those words come out of her son's mouth. "Seriously?!"
"Yeah. The guy's name was Tom Waterston or something like that. He's back in prison now." Jordan said.
"Thank God! People like that deserve to be behind bars. I'm glad Minerva's alright." Barbara said.
"Me too." Jordan said, nodding.
"Oh, by the way, your dad's coming to visit us after he gets off work." Barbara said.
Jordan immediately frowned. He gave a lackluster, "Whoopie."
"Jordan, I know he makes things difficult sometimes, but at least cut him a little bit of slack." Barbara said.
"It's not that, Mom. He's never around much anymore, that's what bothers me. Ever since he got that new job, I feel like he doesn't make time like he used to." Jordan said.
"If it makes you feel any better, he explained to me that he feels awful about it and wants to make it up to you. Which is why he's coming over later today." Barbara said.
"Are you sure he didn't make excuses?" Jordan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No, sweetheart, he didn't." Barbara said.
"Alright, just making sure." Jordan said. "At least I get to see him."
"Me too." Barbara said.
After Jordan finished breakfast, he got dressed into regular clothes and put on his backpack.
"I'm gonna leave for school now." Jordan said.
"Have a great day!" Barbara said cheerfully.
"I will." Jordan said. He gave his mom a kiss on the cheek. "Love you."
"Love you too." Barbara said.
Jordan left the house, hopped on his skateboard, and skateboarded to school. When he got there, he entered the main hall and leaned on his locker. Although he was a good kid, he was kind of a loner. Originally from New Jersey, he moved to Burbank his sophomore year of high school. He was a junior now, and to his surprise, he couldn't find any friends to make, which all the more disappointed him.
Will, Sam, and Johnny were hanging out right across from Jordan, whispering to each other about him. He caught glances of them every now and then.
When it was the right time, the triplets went up to Jordan, who was playing a game on his phone. He looked up.
"Hi, guys." Jordan said, polite as always.
"Save the small talk, Monroe. We don't wanna waste time bullshitting with ya." Will said.
"Okay, then don't." Jordan said, confused.
"Let's cut to the chase. We're here to tell you to get out of town." Sam said.
Jordan narrowed his head. "I don't understand."
"Do we have to spell it out for you? We don't want you here. We want you gone." Johnny said.
"Well, I'm afraid I'm not going anywhere, sorry. See you later." Jordan said. He started to walk away, only to be stopped.
"Look, buddy, I don't wanna have to repeat myself. Either leave town or else you're gonna get your ass handed to you. Do you understand?" Will threatened.
Jordan was getting scared. "Uh, fellas, please, this is neither the time nor the place for you to be doing this right in front of everyone."
Ignoring that statement, Sam and Johnny pinned Jordan against the wall, while Will sucker punched him in the gut, hard.
Jordan winced and exclaimed in pain. "Ow! What the hell, man?!"
"You want another one? I'll give you another one!" Will said. He punched Jordan in the gut once again, even harder the second time.
"Please! Stop!" Jordan begged. His voice was straining.
The other kids in the hallway were murmuring to each other in concern.
When the first bell rang, Will, Sam, and Johnny let go of Jordan and walked to class.
Jordan was clutching his stomach, still in pain. "Man, I hate those guys."
[3:00 PM]
When school was over, Jordan managed to avoid the triplets and skateboarded back home. He entered his house.
"Hi, honey!" Barbara greeted.
"Hey." Jordan said.
"How was school?" Barbara asked.
"Eh, the morning was pretty crappy, but the rest of the day was alright, I guess." Jordan said.
"What do you mean?" Barbara asked curiously.
"I had an encounter with the Peterson brothers. Sam and Johnny had me pinned against the wall while Will was beating me up." Jordan said.
Barbara gasped in instant worry. "OH MY GOD! ARE YOU OKAY?!" She stood up.
"I'm fine, Mom. I don't have any bruises or anything, my stomach just hurts really bad." Jordan said.
"Awww, Jordan, I am so sorry! I can't believe they would do that to you." Barbara said.
"I can. They're practically the school bullies." Jordan said.
"Can I get you some ice to help ease the pain?" Barbara asked.
"No thanks, I'll be alright." Jordan said.
"Alright. It just sucks that those three boys would stoop that low." Barbara said.
"Tell me about it." Jordan mused.
