AN: the thought of Asami smoking was too hot to pass (though I don't do drugs lmao) and then my inner weeb kicked in and here u go
Prompt 7: Fire
Smoke and Bad Mojo
"Asami, there's been a problem." A subordinate says from afar with their gaze fixed downward.
Taking in a deep inhale of something tobacco-like, Asami barely glanced over her shoulder. "How bad?" She then blows out a large puff of smoke.
"More than we can handle with our current force. Another portal, which we suspect to be around A class, has opened near Republic City University. We believe that something might have triggered it three nights ago. We're afraid it might be more than we can handle.
Asami in another puff. "During the power surge?"
"That is what we presume my lady."
Humming softly, Asami glanced up at the night sky, basking in the moonlight. Her eyes shimmered a green hue before took one last whiff of her cigarette and extinguished the bud. She then stood up while exhaling before facing her subordinate. "Very well, I'll look into it tomorrow. If my memory serves me correctly, they should be holding a welcoming assembly for the new students. Inform the headmaster of the situation and make preparations for my arrival."
She blew out another breath of smoke. "If all goes well, I'll have it closed within a week."
"Your orders have been received."
Within seconds, they disappeared in a flash. Asami proceeded to make her way over to the window before looking out the glass wall.
"Something tells me that this won't be easy…"

The moment Korra stepped onto campus, a sharp ringing made her flinch. She grabbed her head and shut her eyes in an attempt to shake it off. Her face scrunched in pain and she gritted her teeth, clenching her jaw before forcing her eyes open slightly. Her eyes glowed a white hue for a split second before someone snaps her out of it when they slapped her back from behind.
"Hey you dork! Where have you been!" They make eye contact with Korra before immediately jumping back. "Oh shit— sorry! I mistook you for someone else, my bad!"
The pain finally subsided somewhat and Korra forced herself to smile. "Nah, don't worry about it."
"Sorry again!" They quickly clapped their hands together in apology before running off.
Korra simply rolled her head side to side before blinking a few times. "What was that…" Shaking her head, she made her way onto campus. She then glanced left to right trying to figure out what was off. The spiritual energy is all wack… did a portal open somewhere? She then looked at the time before letting out a sigh. Dammit… I just wanted a normal college life. No spirits. No drama. Nothing. Just a boring school life.
As much as she wanted to ignore the riff in the spiritual realm, she couldn't. For generations after generations, her family had always trained in the arts of the shinobi for this very reason. Her clan had sworn to keep the balance of the world and protect the secrets of the other side from the human world. Even if Korra had moved out of the main clan to escape her duties.
She cracked her neck before mumbling to herself. "Let's get this over with…"

Repeatedly striking her match's starter, Asami held a cigarette in her mouth before clicking her tongue. "Damn, out of fuel." She then glances at her surroundings before bringing up the lighter to the tip of her joint. She promptly covers the tip and when she uncovered it, it was burning. She then puts away her match before walking around the campus. Her nose picked up a faint smell.
"Smells like shit."
She takes in a deep puff before exhaling.
"Now let's see… where is the focal point…"
Her boots crunched along the gravel path before she made her way onto campus. She walked past a couple of students, ignoring their gawking stares and awes of admiration. Sure enough, she turned the corner to find the campus cafe. She stared at the place for a brief second, sensing some disturbance, before making her way inside. However, when she was one step away, she noticed the non-smoking sign before sighing and putting out her bud. When she finally pushed the door open, a handful of students were quick to act.
"Holy shit, she's hot."
"Damn that's one hot babe."
"You think she's single?"
"I don't know, let's get her number!"
"Hey you, what year are you? I haven't seen you around campus."
Asami's eyes immediately narrowed and her sharp gaze cause the poor lad to flinch. "Sorry, not interested in young kids."
"What—" his face grew red and that caused him to flinch.
Asami was quick to brush past him before following the spiritual residue trail. She made her way up to the counter before veering off toward the bathroom. The atmosphere quickly changed and she swiftly moved a caution sign in front of the ladies' bathroom before entering the room and blocking off the door. Her boot tapped against the tile before she cocked her head to the right.
Sure enough, the light flickered a few times before she narrowed her eyes and headed for the last bathroom stall. Once in front of the door, there was this shift in energy. She quickly kicked the door open before coming face to face with a shadowy beast. It growled with a gurgle before raising its claw.
Asami hardly batted an eye.
She brought her hand up and snapped her fingers, incinerating the beast. It shrieked and cried as it burned into ashes. Her flames continued to burn at the beast's hide, evaporating its very existence into a speck of fine dust, essentially naked to the eye. Turning away from the aftermath, Asami dusted off her shoulder before making her way out.
"That's the first."

"..."
Korra paused before looking at the campus cafe. Something about it threw her off.
"What the…"
She made her way inside, following the disturbed energy. She ended up in the bathroom and ended up nodding her head to some girl before patiently waiting for the last person to leave. Once they were out, she went inside the last bathroom stall before tilting her head.
"Something was here…"
She titled her head to the other side.
"But it's gone now."
She then begrudgingly leaned forward for a better view.
"That's…"
She then reached forward, running her finger across the back wall before looking at the dust in her hand.
"Fey dust."
She then dusts off her hand before making her way out.
"Is a hunter here…?"
Lost in deep thought, Korra looked off to the side.
"But the nearest base is two cities away… then who…?"
xXx
Clicking her tongue, Asami finished off another dark spirit before pulling out her pack of cigarettes. She lit it with a small flame at the tip of her finger before looking off toward the campus.
"It never ends…" she looked at the sky before watching the sun dance at the horizon. "At this rate, the sun's going to set."
She takes another whiff before dropping her cigarette bud. She stomps on it, smothering its flames, before making her way down the emergency stairway.
"There haven't been any casualties so far but the amount of spirits is concerning… if it really is an A class, I need to stop it before it can wreak havoc."
xXx
Dragging her foot onto the last step, Korra sighs before glancing around the platform. She's quick to identify more fey dust before spotting something different. "What's that?" She then bends over to pick it up. A bud to a cigarette.
"Most students wouldn't smoke here, it's too far up…"
She then brings it to her nose before taking a whiff.
"???"
She sniffed it again.
"This isn't tobacco… why does it have an herbal scent?"
Korra then looks off toward campus, watching the sunset below the horizon.
"Who is this hunter…?"
xXx
With a loud crack, Asami set ablaze a group of dark spirits. They shrieked in pain at their futile attempts in harming her. She simply watched them burn to dust in cold blood before she rummaged into her leather jacket for her pack of cigarettes. Once in hand, she looked down to only see that she ran out.
Clicking her tongue in irritation, Asami crushed the packet before tossing it over her shoulder, landing her trash in the nearest waste bin. She pushed her hair back before proceeding forward, heading up towards the rooftop. The sun had long ago set and she was certain that most of the students and faculty had headed home. Honestly, she was surprised that she had yet to find the focal point behind this riff and she wasn't any closer to figuring out where it was.
The whole campus felt like a whirlpool of demonic energy.
Her judgment seemed clouded and that was unusual. A person of her class would never fall for such simpleness or trickery. She was fairly certain of what type of spirit she was facing at this point. That's why she headed up. If she was correct then that would only mean…
Slamming open the locked door to the rooftop, Asami quickly head outside. It was silence, bizarrely so and sure enough, to her expectations, a whirlpool of darkness started pooling at the center of the roof. She stood there, unimpressed, as the spirit took its form.
It was a creature of darkness: a monster with fangs for teeth, ghastly breath, wavering skin, and bright red eyes.
Her subordinates could probably handle this beast themselves but not without casualties. However, she was in her own class. One that far surpassed simple-minded creatures without intelligence.
"We finally meet you stupid monster."
She cracked her neck.
"Thanks for wasting my time, let's hurry and finish this up."
She brought her hand up, cracking her wrist, and just when she took a step forward, someone cracking the down open from behind her makes her turn around.
"What the— why is a human—"
Astonished by this human, or rather woman, Asami was mostly shocked by the fact that she didn't sense her come. No one has ever snuck up on her so who was this—
"Watch out!" She called out in distress.
"..."
Turning around, Asami watched as the monster exhaled a breath of black fire. She stood there as it hit her dead on, engulfing her in a tornado of putrid flames.
"NOO!!" The woman shouted. She quickly surged forward before casting some magic. "You fucking monster!"
The ground beneath the beast split, erupting upward, getting the monster to dodge. She was quick to follow and the moment it jumped upward, she shot a stream of flames at it. After a volley of dodging and attacking, she eventually jumped back while huffing. Her eyes landed on the tornado of flames and she gritted her teeth before glaring at the beast.
"I was too late…" She then struck the beast with a hard gale of wind, "You piece of shit! Always taking lives of the innocent… when will it stop!"
She chased after the beast, striking its arm and leg, cutting into its flesh. It continued to shriek about before unleashing a horrid scream. The shockwave caused by the shock sent her flying, slamming her against the fencing. The wind got knocked out of her upon impact and as she coughed for air, the beast had closed the gap between them. Her eyes snapped open as a chill went down her spine.
"Shit—"
She braced herself and just when the beast was about to tear her apart, Asami snuck up from beneath before tossing it aside like a ragdoll. She makes eye contact with the woman before turning around.
"That's enough. The amount of damage you're creating is already creating a headache for me."
The woman flinched, wondering if she was referring to her before peeling her eyes away.
Asami began walking closer to the beast and just when it began getting up, she raised her hands before snapping her fingers. It immediately ignited into flames and Asami only tilted her head back.
"Stop wasting my time and die."
She snapped her fingers again and the fire doubled in size, quickly burning the beast to ashes within seconds. As its ashes began scattering into the wind, Asami turned to look at the woman. She starts making her way over before observing her eyes.
"Hmm… you're different than most guardians."
"Wha…"
"Hmph, you're kind of cute for a human."
"What?!" Her jaw dropped before she quickly snapped out of it. "I have a name you know! It's Korra!"
"Sure." Asami then turns around before taking in the mess. She clicked her tongue again before rubbing her temples. She then pulled out her phone before making a call. "Send a clearing crew to the northeast roof top." She hung up after that before turning around and walking away.
"What— hey wait!" Korra grunts before getting back up on her feet. "I'm talking to you here! What was that! I thought you got roasted! What are you? Hey, I'm talking to you here!" She then runs up before grabbing Asami's arm.
Asami stopped in place before turning to face Korra. She looked her straight in the eyes, getting Korra to flinch. Korra froze before getting lost in her eyes. It must have been the moonlight or something, but her green eyes were pulling her in, swallowing her whole.
"H-Holy shit! Y-You're a dragon!"
Narrowing her eyes, Asami took her arm back. She continued to walk away before Korra pestered her again.
"At least tell me your name!"
This time, Asami stopped by choice. She turned to face Korra before smiling coyly. "Asami."
Somewhat surprised by her willingness, Korra fell a step back as she repeated, "Asami."
"I'm surprised you know about my identity…" she then turned around, "On second thought, I changed my mind."
"What…what do you mean by—"
Asami stepped into Korra's space before leaning in close to her ear. "You see… I'm out of herbal medicine. I was going to go straight home to get some, however…" she then eyes Korra's body up and down, "I think you'll do just fine."
"Huh? What the heck is that supposed to—"
Within seconds, Asami stole Korra's lips. She pulled her body in, wrapping her arm around her hips as she slipped her tongue into her mouth.
"Mmfph?!"
Korra twitched. She didn't know what to do. What in the— before she knew it, she lost her strength as she fell limp. Asami caught her body. When she parted from the kiss, she quickly leaned back in and pecked her lips one last time before pulling away.
"Sorry kid… I'll explain everything tomorrow."
"W-Wha…" The heavy urge to sleep dragged Korra's eyelids down. She failed to fight the urge before the last thing she saw was those green, vibrant eyes. Why… Why do I feel… at peace?
She blacked out after that.
xXx
Twitching awake, Korra yelled as she bolted up right. She panted for air before she rubbed her face. "Shit… that was one hell of a vivid dream…"
Asami lets out a puff before speaking up. "You're finally awake."
"DAHH!" She screamed before grabbing her cover and pulling it up to hide. "What in the—"
"Humans really are fragile things… though, you're different from them."
"Wha— what's going on? What did you do to me? Why did you kiss—" she blushed at the resurfacing memory. "Explain!"
Asami simply smirked back. "I should be the one asking you for answers." She stood up before walking to her side. "For example, what are you… having a human use more than one type of elemental magic is unheard of. Not to mention you knew I was a dragon… how? I think I hide my abilities well."
"T-That's—" Korra turned away when Asami's face was next to hers. "Y-Your eyes! There's something about them and then that herbal joint you smoke… I remember my gran gran telling me about how dragons use it to calm down their urges so I just figured you were—" she turned around to become just an inch away from Asami's plump lips.
"Hmm… that so." Asami finally leaned back. "Either way I have a feeling you and I will be running into each other often."
"And why is that."
"Just a hunch."
"A hunch?"
"Mmhmm, we might be tied to each other by faith for all you know… Korra."
Korra got lost in Asami's eyes again. There was just something there that drew her in. "Yeah yeah yeah, that still doesn't explain why you kissed me!"
Asami just smiled before looking away. She then mumbled something in dragon's tongue.
"What? What did you just say?"
"Nothing."
"Oh come on, what'd you just say!"
"I said nothing."
And just like that, Korra chased after Asami, looking for answers. Despite having meant for the first time yesterday, it was as if they had known each other for years on end. Who knew what fate had stored for them in the future? Fate was a fickle thing after all.
