It was 6 o'clock in the evening. The Warners had invited Jordan and Barbara over for dinner. Jordan's father, Barry, was also invited, but he declined, as he had other plans.

The group was enjoying a nice dinner that the Warners made. Barbara especially was excited since she hadn't seen them in quite a while.

"It's too bad your dad couldn't come, Jordan. I bet he would've loved this." Yakko said.

"Yeah. He said he had plans with his friends. It's a shame he's missing out." Jordan said.

"That's kind of his thing, though. He always does what he wants to do." Barbara said.

"I hope there's no animosity between you guys." Wakko said.

"Oh, no, there isn't, don't worry!" Barbara said with a smile. She giggled.

"Good." Dot said.

"Hey, Jordan, just out of curiosity, what does your dad look like?" Yakko asked.

"Well, I mean, he's tall, kinda lean, he has dark hair, and a little muscular. That's about it, really." Jordan said.

"Gotcha." Wakko said.

In a way, the Monroes all looked alike in some manner. Barbara had red hair and sparkling blue eyes. Although Jordan had neither of these (his hair was dirty blonde and his eyes were brown), he still had the same facial structure as her. And Barry had dark hair and an average face, as described above.

"I must say, you kids are excellent at cooking. This is delicious! It's better than anything I could have made." Barbara said.

"Aw, shucks!" The Warners said together, flattered.

"Do you cook, Jordan?" Yakko asked.

"I've tried a few times, and it always turns out a disaster, so no. I was self-taught, by the way." Jordan said.

"I see." Wakko said.

"I am, however, taking driving lessons. On my own free will, of course." Jordan said.

"And how are you doing with that?" Dot asked.

"He's progressing little-by-little." Barbara said.

"That's right!" Jordan said.

After the group finished dinner, the Warners grabbed everyone's plates and put them in the sink. During this time, Jordan was beginning to feel on edge. Barbara noticed this.

"Jordan, you've been awfully quiet since we've finished eating." Barbara said.

Jordan just sighed. "I know."

"Is something bothering you, buddy?" Barbara asked.

"Kind of. Mom, let me ask you a question. Have you ever had a crush on somebody knowing that they also liked you back?" Jordan asked.

"Um, I don't think so, or at least than I can remember. Why?" Barbara asked curiously.

"It's how I feel about Katie. I'm kind of in a rut here. I like her, she likes me, but because I'm not looking for love, I feel like I've let her down in some way." Jordan said.

"Honey, I'm sure Katie understands. You don't have to rush into things." Barbara said with reassurance.

"What about Katie?" Yakko asked, with him and his siblings sitting back down.

"I was just talking about the mutual feelings her and I have for each other." Jordan said.

"Oh. She came over here recently and talked about how she tried to kiss you." Wakko said.

"She said she felt she was coming on to you." Dot said.

"I don't think she was, though. It was more like a spur of the moment situation, at least that's I think anyway." Jordan said.

"Whatever happens between you two, I hope it works out." Barbara said.

"Thanks." Jordan said, smiling.

"Welp, I don't know about you guys, but I sure am full." Yakko said.

"Me too." Wakko said.

"Me three." Dot said.

"Same." Jordan said.

"Same here." Barbara said.

"Speaking of which, we should probably be heading home now. I know it seems that I leave very abruptly, so I apologize for that if that's the case." Jordan said.

"Hey, it's no biggie, really. We're just glad you came over." Yakko said.

"I mean, you're the only friends I have, so I try to visit whenever I can." Jordan said.

"Wait, what do you mean we're the only friends you have? Don't you have friends at school?" Wakko asked, genuinely curious.

"No, not really." Jordan said.

"Gee, we had no idea. Now I feel bad." Dot said sullenly.

"It's fine, honestly. You don't have to feel sorry for me. I'm doing just fine in life. Wow, this just got depressing real fast." Jordan mused.

The Warners glanced at each other with concern and perplexing.

"Anyway, uh, we're gonna go now. It was nice having dinner with you guys, and thank you again for the thoughtful invitation." Barbara said.

"No problem! And thank you for coming!" Yakko said.

"Our pleasure. See you guys around." Jordan said.

"Bye!" The Warners said at the same time.

"Bye!" Jordan and Barbara also said at the same time, and left the water tower.

Then, the Warners turned around to look at each other.

"I didn't know that Jordan didn't have any friends at school." Yakko said.

"Me neither. I feel guilty now all of the sudden." Wakko said.

"At least he has us, I mean, that's gotta count for something, right?" Dot asked.

"Oh yeah, totally. He even told us we're like siblings to him." Yakko said.

The next morning, as Jordan got ready for school, he grabbed his skateboard and opened the door to leave, only to find Katie standing there at his doorstep unexpectedly. It caught him off guard.

"Uh, hi, Katie." Jordan said, flustered.

"Hey." Katie said with a smile.

"What are you doing here?" Jordan asked.

"I just came to stop by and see you before you went to school, that's all." Katie said.

"Oh, okay." Jordan said.

Jordan and Katie began walking down the sidewalk together, engaging in small talk.

"So, what school do you go to?" Katie asked.

"Uh, Burbank High. I started going there last year as a sophomore." Jordan said.

"I see." Katie said.

"What about you?" Jordan asked.

"I'm homeschooled. I don't mind it, though." Katie said.

"Interesting. I assume you do it online." Jordan said.

"Yep! Turns out it's not as hard as it sounds." Katie said.

"That's good. School is pretty easy for me, too. Well, most of my classes anyway." Jordan said.

"That's nice. Oh! I forgot to tell you, I'm hosting a slumber party at my house tonight. You're welcome to join if you want." Katie said.

"Gosh, I haven't heard about those things in years! I'll definitely be there. What time is it starting?" Jordan asked.

"It's starting at 7:00 PM. It'll probably last a few hours, depending on my mood." Katie said.

"Okay. Who else is gonna be there?" Jordan asked.

"Dot, Heloise, Slappy, and the other girls." Katie said.

"Got it!" Jordan said.

After walking further together, Katie stopped.

"Well, I'm gonna go now. It was nice talking with you." Katie said.

"You too. I'll see you tonight." Jordan said.

"Likewise. Bye." Katie said.

"Bye." Jordan said.

Katie turned around and walked off in the other direction. Jordan stood there and watched her until she vanished from his sight.

She definitely is a one of kind girl.
