(A/N) Just a little short for the time being as I have a couple others in progress and need to finish those, but I had this sudden plot and wanted to write something for it. Likes/Reviews appreciated .

I was lying on my back, knees up to support my Sudoku book I had grabbed from under my pillow, pen scrawling digits into the small boxes. Jade didn't like when I did puzzle games with her over. She thought I didn't pay attention to her at all when I did them. That's why I usually waited until she was out of the room to sneakily fill in a couple or more numbers.

Speaking of the devil, she was downstairs. Hopefully not bumping into or threatening Trina, but making us yummy delicious smoothies only somehow she could make. I heard a couple thuds, making me sit up in concern. But I didn't get up, thinking about the argument the other day. Apparently when Jade got mad I was always babying her, like I didn't trust her to do anything on her own. Which wasn't true, I knew Jade could handle things on her own, HELL it's Jade! I just thought she always did everything herself so I wanted to do more things for her. Give her a break.

I stay seated, listening out before I heard Trina's loud and obnoxious laughing. Damnit, so they did come across one another. My head came up with brief visuals of incidents that I could be walking into. I sighed, once again regretting being born the younger sibling. I tried before to get Trina put in foster care, with multiple attempts ending with me getting grounded.

When I opened my eyes the said annoying older sister bursts through, still laughing. I could barely make out what she was saying between her noise. "Jade" More laughs. "Just. A. Spider." She was clutching her stomach while she laughed, her eyes closed.

I cursed, my automatic response being to push my sister aside to get out the door. I quicky put the pieces together. Spider and Jade should NEVER go together. She was absolutely terrified of them. You wouldn't think the scariest girl in Hollywood Arts would be scared of spiders. That's the art that was Jade. Nothing about her ever made sense. She wouldn't blink at ANY OTHER bug in the entire world, and LOVED horror movies.

I quickly passed through the kitchen to see Jade frozen up on one of our kitchen counters. My heart felt heavy. I didn't like her scared, but she was so darn beautiful. I snapped out of her beauty and grabbed the broom. I was scared of spiders too, but it wasn't a phobia like it was for Jade. I didn't mind being her knight in shining armor when she'd let me. If I wasn't now, I didn't know when I'd get another chance.

I searched quickly for the intruder on the ground while cooing softly to try and get Jade's attention, calm her down. "Jadey. Baby." I searched near the stove. Nothing moved. "Where's the little guy?"

Jade's eyes opened and quickly shut tight again. I searched near the fridge. How could I find a small thing in a big room anyway? I was starting to doubt my heroics when the fucker suddenly jumped out from between the small space underneath the dishwasher.

"Aha!" I yelled, darting towards the intruder with the broom, delivering multiple hits and swats to the whole area.

I lay sprawled over Jade's bed. No. I didn't get the spider. Hince why we ended up going to her place. I didn't want her to be paranoid and I knew she wouldn't be comfortable sleeping at mine, at least not tonight. So, Jade cuffed Trina to the stairs and we left.

I looked up to see Jade coming out of her bathroom wrapped in a towel. Her hair wrapped up in another but smaller towel. I couldn't help staring.

She took me in for a moment. Neither one of us saying anything, her walking over. She pulled off her towel, tossing it aside into her hamper across the room. "Are you okay?" she asked, looking at me.

Am I okay? I blinked. She noted my confusion, filling in the blanks for me. "I know you've been feeling bad." She carefully moved to lay on me, never having cared about being naked with an audience whether it was me or someone else. I felt her chin snuggle up against the blade of my back shoulder, her low voice filling the room again. "I appreciate you just trying." She kissed my ear. "You're still my knight," she said with a soft laugh, making me smile.

Only Jade West could make me feel the way she does. When every person cowards in fright, I'm instead scolding my heart to stop flipping. Me and my Arachnophobic scissor-loving woman dressed in black.
